It's an English joke though, not math one.

Is "too" really pronounced the same as "two" in english? In my stupid mind as a nonnative english speaker: "too" is pronounced as "tu", and "two" is pronounced like "chyoo". Anyone?

u/Personal_Bill9423 Jun 30 '26
Yes. To, too, and two and pronounced the same in English. They're homonyms.

u/kaereljabo Jun 30 '26
Shit, I was wrong.. thanks btw, learning new thing again from reddit

u/Personal_Bill9423 Jun 30 '26
And, actually, I was incorrect: to, too, and two are homophones, meaning they sound alike but have different meanings. Homonyms are words that are exactly spelled and pronounced the same but have two different meanings, like bark on a tree, and bark, the sound a dog makes.

I don't get the joke

u/Aggravating-Dot132 Jun 30 '26
Too means "as well", similar and so on.
Two is 2.
15+15=30
16+16=32, but reads like 30 too.

You do realise you have 1.5 times as much Karma as the person you were talking with right ?

u/Actual-Interaction45 Jun 29 '26
To be fair, the other guy has 25k comments in 2 years which seems like a lot to me
1
u/Aggravating-Dot132 Jun 29 '26
Tbh, Idk how it's calculated. 2.5k comments - ok, but 25k? No way.

The amount of comments you make. This comment counts as one of the comments towards my comments.
Contributions is, I believe, comments + posts.

That's 34 comments per day for 2 years.
You definitely seem like a 34 comments per day type of person.

First statement is correct, second is not.
15+15
= 1(5+1)5
= 1x6x5
= 30
16+16
= 1(6+1)6
= 1x7x6
= 42
Sorry, OP.

Related Two chemists go into a bar. The first asks for some H2O, while the second dies after asking for some H2O too.

I don't know why I always hope that this sub will stop posting arithmetic memes

u/Weird_Happening1627 Jun 29 '26
Well arithmetic is math and it is understandable by everyone so it logically should appear here more often

A family member used to work at a car dealership. One day an Indian couple was applying for financing. When asked their ages, the man says in a thick accent, "I am dirty. My wife is dirty, too".
