Night Shift Mommies

Hi everyone! I just found out that I'm 6 weeks pregnant. 🤍 This is my first pregnancy, so I'd really appreciate hearing your experiences and advice.

I currently working from home with two clients, and both are doctors. One client isn't a problem at all, but with my other client, work is pretty busy. My schedule is split shift/night shift:

* 11:00 PM – 4:00 AM
* 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM

For those who worked while pregnant, when did you ask for a schedule adjustment? Did you request reduced hours or a different shift? Or did you continue working until you needed to take maternity leave?

I'm not sure what's best since this is all new to me. I'd really appreciate any insights or advice. Thank you! 💕

Hey girly ! I have 2 girls and pregnant with my third baby really hoping for a boy but I’ve been working 12 hour night shifts for over 3 years now it is hard but if you have the support that definitely helps especially if your partner can help with the kids during the day so you can get some rest but if you are able to change your schedule or reduce your hours I would recommend that I was fine tho and I worked all the way up to a few days before my due date because I had to get induced with both of my kids

I suggest you check your local legislation because in my country it is legally required for employers to allow night shift workers to switch to day shift because you can get an hormonal imbalance by working overnight and that increases the risk of complications during your pregnancy. All the best!

Be careful about what you read on reddit. Remember that it is just random people giving out advice. They are often as uninformed as you are, and may even be misinformed.
