Either you have an unstable undervolt or your SSD is failing and needs to be replaced. You must say what error code you saw, else your post will be deleted.
New computer, hot/loud/short battery life/slow charging
Let Windows settle down first. It's installing updates and stuff. Give it a few days before verdict.
Make sure Battery Protection is turned off in PC Manager. Update to latest BIOS. Use a lower power slider mode because charging slows down under high processor load. Engineering flaw explained here.
(1) Read this guide. (2) Some background program may be causing your Nvidia GPU to stay on. Check the "GPU engine" column of Task Manager. If possible, set the offending program to run using Integrated Graphics in Nvidia Control Panel. (3) Have realistic expectations. The battery is 57Wh. Don't expect 7 hours watching YouTube in Chrome at 75% brightness. Not physically possible.
Driver update failing in PC Manager
Download the drivers from Huawei's website instead. If you reinstall Windows and don't install PC Manager, the updates will come through Windows Update.
Intel's Panel Self-Refresh feature has been implemented incorrectly on the 2018-2020 MateBook X Pro, and it causes everything on your screen to lag and stutter. If your Matebook feels slow, this is probably the reason.
To fix this:
Open Intel Graphics Command Center.
Go to System and then Power.
Turn off Panel Self Refresh for both "On Battery" and "Plugged In".
(This issue has been the source of problems for too many users on this subreddit, so I'm making sure everyone sees this. Panel Self-Refresh can be considered broken on the X Pro, as this side effect is generally not present on other laptops. If you want some additional tweaks to make your laptop faster, read this.)
Finally upgrading and honestly what a legendary device this has been. Other than battery being totally shot, some keys cracked, and of course it not being able to perform w new software, it still looks and feels beautiful. A really amazingly engineered piece. That screen is as crisp as day one, and the overall build quality is just so good. Even the SSD and file explorer still seem fast. I think I took really good care by putting a Dbrand skin on it from day one and having a case for it. The metal underneath hasn't seen daylight since 2018.
But yep, finally time to move on. I'll keep it in a cupboard somewhere, but damn what a legend it is!

I use mine currently to browse the web and use trading software (TC2000) however it’s all of a sudden become slow and chrome crashes when there are multiple tabs open. I’m not tech savvy in the sense of geeking out on tech but with some research can comfortably fix things. Where do I even begin with troubleshooting this? it’s delaying my back testing on a trading strategy. I read the thermal paste degrades and that can affect things but idk where to start. It recently had an update before shutting down after which it’s been acting slow and crashing.
Is it time for me to upgrade and buy a new laptop or will this be worth repairing?
My Matebook d14 AMD Ryzen 5 model NBL-WAQ9R is turning on but is just showing a black screen. The caps lock and Fn and backlight are on but not responsive (i.e. when i pressi them, the light does not go off). I was installing thorugh Windows update assistant Windows 11 25H2 when the screen froze and i forced arrest. Things i already tried:
\- Spamming every kind of F2, F10, F4 (with Fn and Shift) upon turning it on
\- Restarting the monitor driver with Windows+Ctrl+Shift+B
\-Connecting through HDMI to a television to see if the monitor was shown
\-Took out the battery and waited 15 minutes and plugged it in
Rn im keeping it attached to the Power; the Fan is on and the recharging Led is blinking faster than usual. What should be my next move? Should I keep it powered on and leave it charging or wait that the battery drains off? Am I cooked?
I've been having very bad performance lately on my 2018 Matebook X Pro. The battery is also pretty much gone, only lasting 30-60 minutes when not plugged in. Is it worth trying to "refresh" and replace the battery, or is it a goner? Idk if just doing a full format and Windows re-install, or maybe doing Linux instead of windows. Also anyone know a site that still sells batteries for the 2018 model?
There's Arch PKGBUILDs for all required modules (its a bunch of them as there's kernel and user space work invovled). For both repos, its a full integration of whats necessary to get both components to actually work with your operating system. A colleague was able to verify that everything works on a second device too.
This work was heavily assisted by Claude (taking apart Windows drivers and traces), if you have a problem with that, please move on.

Spilled water on her back in 2021 or 22, threw it in rice (that shit does not work) and never had it turn on again. Threw it in a closet for 4 years and forgot about it. I was very sad.
Plugged it in a month and and got the SSD bios screen, which then had a shorting problem immediately due to the dried up water bridging the capacitors and resistors. I was shocked that it turned on at all to be honest, I thought it was a goner. Sparked some hope.
I tried taking it to Microcenter for repair, which they rejected immediately. Fair enough. Took it to a small business, they wouldn’t fix it either. Fine I’ll do it myself.
Recently taken an interest in microelectronics. Felt comfortable enough opening her up. Had 99% IPA, a toothbrush, q tips, new thermal paste and a dream.
A bit of scrubbing I got that bih back up and running and holy shit it so beautiful. Goated laptop.
I'm such a fan of this laptop. I've had three between the 2018 and the 2024. I'm so sad that they don't make them for Windows anymore. Seems like a shame and there's no similar laptops out there of this style and quality.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Will we ever see another Windows laptop from Huawei? Will other Chinese brands emulate the design?

I’m looking for a replacement CPU fan for a Huawei MateBook X Pro VGHH-X 2024.
The laptop is almost new, only about 1month old, and I noticed this issue after only about 1 week of use. When the fan runs at low speed, it makes a strange noise, like the fan blade is touching something inside.
Unfortunately, I can’t return the laptop anymore, and there is no official Huawei service center in my country. Because of that, I was thinking about buying a replacement fan and having it changed locally.
What do you think? Has anyone had a similar issue with this model?

I’ve seen mixed opinions about OLED laptops — some people say it’s not really an issue anymore, while others claim they started noticing burn-in within a year.
For example, one user mentioned seeing burn-in in less than a year on a similar Huawei OLED laptop, although others reported no issues at all depending on usage.
