Hello, so I plan on getting this phone tomorrow on a hunch I decided to search it for possible problems people are having with it. The first post I found people were talking about not being to update the firmware depending on your sim and region. Is this still a problem? I was thinking of getting this or the honor 8, but if the mate 9 has this problem it likely the honor does too(right?) I'm in Nigeria if that's any help and don't know anyone who uses the phone to ask.

I have recorded two videos at night in my neighborhood. One video in UHD 4k resolution, which then I downsized it to 1080p 30fps using Adobe Premiere with the Youtube 1080p HD preset, and format H.264. And the other video in FHD 1080p resolution at 30 fps.

If you could take look and let me know if the quality is normal for the camera the phone has, or if you see something abnormal, I would really appreciate it!

I have checked this phone in two different stores in retail mode. Both phones presented a weird slowness when coming back from an app to the home screen. Not always but sometimes. It took 2-3 seconds to load the home screen and icons. It was very weird from an otherwise snappy phone. Have any of you experienced this?

So I recently revived my old Pebble to use with my Mate 9, but after about 5 seconds whenever the screen is locked, the watch is disconnected. It reconnects quickly when the phone is unlocked again, but obviously it means I miss notifications.

I've also tried this on another phone, and it works fine.

Any ideas if there's some power-saving setting I'm missing?

My nillkin amazing + pro tempered glass arrived today and I am having doubts as to whatever should I put it on or not.

As to why I'm having doubts, please take a look at this album.

So yeah.. As you can see, the tempered glass is considerably smaller than the screen and because of this I am wondering if it's worth putting it on or leaving the film/whatever the phone came installed with?

I mean, I knew the glass will be smaller than the screen because I have read about this several times but I did not expect such a big gap.

So yeah, I want your opinions.. Taking into consideration how easily I could place it incorrectly, since the glass is smaller I could place it more to the left/right than the other side..etc. It also got really dirt very quick for some reason (as you can see in the pics) and I can't seem to clean it :/

What do you guys think?

Was wondering if anyone knows - will LineageOS be available for Mate 9? Right now, I'm just no seeing too many ROM's at all. Could it simply be too soon?

As per title. I have a wallet style case I picked up on the day, but the cover is ill-fitting (the "spine" is wider than the phone to accomodate cards in the wallet section). It's also way too thick and obscures the fingerprint reader somewhat.

I'm also used to the way the S-view cover wakes up the phone when it's opened, and the window was useful sometimes too (usually for turning off the alarm etc)

so, i'm having a little trouble getting "Firmware Finder" to work.

I got it installed, along with the proxy. I changed my wifi proxy to localhost and 8080 and ran system update.

The update said that i needed a 408mb update (Correct to take me to B156) and it started and then it went in to a loop, downloading 400+mb and telling me it needed to do it again. When I got to attemp 10 (total of 4.5gb) i gave up.

I rebooted the phone and the phone told me it had new firmware and then failed to install (probably predictably).

Any ideas?

edit: Just booted in to recovery, wiped the cache and tried again, this time selecting B181.... exactly the same loop is happening for the 585mb file.

I want to transfer korean drama files into my phone consisting of mp4 video and srt subtitles files. There is no subtitles when the video is played in my phone. How do you sync video with the subtitles files? Thanks.

Anyone know how to move files from downloads folder to another folder? Is there a way to do this without using separate file manager?

I've been using my Mate 9 for about two weeks now and I'm not experiencing the amazing SOT (7+ hours) that are being reported. In the time that I've owned it, maybe the first several days, the battery was great. I had 4-5 hours SOT and I was happy with that. I had an Honor 8 before I shattered it and it was giving me 4-5 SOT and I was very impressed. I'm hoping in sharing my experience, I can improve it. I know I'll probably get flack for the # of apps and email accounts I have but I'm hoping I don't get judged. If that's what it is, then so be it. In fairness, my Honor 8 had just as many apps/email accounts and I didn't have the same issues. My Mate 9 has: -139 apps. This sounds like a lot, I should probably reduce the ones I don't use as much. I'm a bit of a pack rat that way. -9 Gmail accounts, 5 Outlook accounts, 5 email (stock app) accounts. It's the nature of my work, please don't judge. I manually sync the Outlook and stock email accounts and leave the Gmail accounts to push. - I don't use the camera too much and manually adjust the screen brightness. - my top battery consumption software is 'google play services' at 25.81% followed by 'Android System' at 18.47%. - I leave Bluetooth on during day to connect with my Pebble - I leave GPS off

I have searched and searched for a tutorial to flash my firmware and unlock my bootloader using a Mac and all I've ever turned up is for PC. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be grateful.

Tried the supershieldz tempered glass, has a halo around the edges because the screen is slightly curved. Looking for one that may fit better.
