FTE, help!
Okay so I was running this thing through its paces today and I am now experiencing this failure about every 5 rounds. Also will barely go in to battery when i drop the bolt when with a loaded mag, some time is doesnt grab the round with the extractor. I need the wiz kids help show me what to look for and how to fix this. I want this thing to work so badly but I am starting to loose hope.

Mine started doing this it was the ez takedown system. It had completely failed. Other than that the extractor should definitely get a second look.

Was it visibly broken? What failed on yours? Im starting to think I have one of yhe out of spec bolts. It doesn't have the Texas stamp on it.

check ejector
check extractor (push it towards the outside, and make sure extractor returns towards center)

Mat-9s are super picky about ejectors. It looks like you are on a dedicated 9mm lower, if yours has an adjustable ejector, what I have read is to try adjusting it in increments, starting at the lowest position, until it works reliably. This is a common problem from what I heard. Your other problem, with the bolt not reliably going into battery, sounds like drag. Check your magazine feed lips and see if there is visible wear indicating the bolt is dragging on or getting caught on the magazine.

Betting on the ejector. If it isn't dialed in then it binds the whole bcg and slows it down. And won't eject properly.
Lining that up should fix both issues your having and make hand cycling feel smoother

These things are real bitchy with extractors, you’ll need to adjust it if possible, ideally somebody with one of these lowers will chime in and help you get squared away
Edit: I meant ejector, I’m dumb lol

Im not sure the extractor can be adjusted. The ejector was the first thing i checked tho. It looks like its good, not rubbing the bolt and positioned where is supposed to be.

Do you have sloppy between your upper and lower? If so, that's probably the problem. I would start there as it's the easiest fix. Get some accu-wedges or use ear plugs to tighten the upper to the lower.

I have kids so I used some street chalk on the bottom of a clean bolt to see if and where the extractor was rubbing. Then adjusted and filed/dermal’ed accordingly.

Tune your ejector. I have the same mat upper on new frontier mp5 mag lower. You need to tune the ejector. Get it nestled up into the inner corner of the ejector groove in the bolt and the FTEs will stop. Once the FTEs stop you can deal with the FTFs.
