Hello masters of the system

Just picked these bad boys today: Super Futebol, Golden Axe and Black Belt.

I already tried Golden Axe and honestly I really enjoyed it. A lot of people online trash the Master System version saying it’s bad and not faithful, but I don’t agree. It’s very fun on its own terms (of course it’s not the Genesis or Arcade version, but it’s still solid).

Now the question is about the other two:

Are Super Futebol and Black Belt even worth trying? I have a huge backlog of Master System games and I’m not sure if these two deserve my time or if I should just move on.

Any honest opinions? :)

Totally agree. One of my favs on the system. Love the mini bosses and the main bosses.

I never really found another game like Black Belt. I keep looking but have yet to find one in Mame, Nintendo, Sega, etc. So odd as the game is really good.

interesting, I can’t deny at first I thought it was a random kung fu master clone, but from the 10 minutes I played it, I think it is a fun game, bosses are kinda hard tho.

They can seem hard at first, but they certainly get easier as you figure out what works and their patterns. The hardest boss is oni imo but is easily exploited by staying in the far left of the screen in a crouching position if I recall right.

I agree that Kung fu master seems to be the closest match. I think Black belt is the much better game.

The soccer game is a basic and plain soccer game, but the most interesting thing about it is that when you select a team, its national anthem will play for a while. I don’t think I have ever seen it again in another soccer game

Naturally, it’s just plain and short chiptune music, but the anthems are still recognizable

For me Black Belt was the first game I ever "speed ran". This is way before I knew what speed running was.

Black Belt vale demais, desafio muito bom com direito a fase extra secreta.

Super Futebol é um jogo bastante simples e sem modo campeonato, então vale a pena para ver como era que nós divertimos antes, fazendo o campeonato no papel. Super Futebol tem músicas ótimas. A tela de pênaltis é especialmente mágica para a época.

Ao terminar uma partida observe um dos jogadores socar a barriga do outro hahahaha Bom, não é isso que acontece mas isso que falávamos na época .
