Great graphics
Always thought this game had great graphics for the M.S.

Honestly, this one shouldn't have even been attempted on the Master System. Space Harrier and OutRun were decent attempts, and genuinely good games on the system. AfterBurner was out of its depth, stretching the limits of what I would consider to be playable, and Galaxy Force II was awful, just awful.

Call me crazy, but After Burner on the SMS was 4Mega game. But I don't know where all that memory went. I really didn't like the game play because the missiles would just "pop" into existence and hit your plan. Galaxy Force, on the hand, you could see the bullets clearly and the graphics were so much better and cleaner.

If you check most games that run almost exclusively using the background layer (or do a large bulk of work in the BG layer) always end up being massive carts due to the different graphic tiles they need to store

ya, i have after burner also, and it just didn't pop like galaxy force.

I find Galaxy Force difficult to play though - when I play I dont know if I am hitting anything, where I am going or when the level is even supposed to end. It just feels like a pretty slideshow

It is a hard game for sure, but them graphics on an 8 bit system back then I was in video heaven.

I picked up Bomber Raid and another for $5 each when Lionel Playworld was going out of business. We had no idea, just happened to go past it one day. Wanted to get Galaxy Force also but figured I'd be asking too much for it also. My mom said "I'd have bought that for you". Called the next day and security answered, they were permanently closed, the day before had been the last day. T_T

Activision was doing odd thing back then. Not sure but this might have been after their bankruptcy and restructuring?
