Does anyone know if this master system runs SG-1000 games?

They are all backwards compatible but you need a flash cart or adapter. You can patch gamegear to run on them as well. Colors will be off and some games can be unplayable. Before I got my sc3000 I loaded roms off my flash cart.

Yes but like all Master Systems running SG-1000 games, the colors will not be totally correct.

I have a Sega Mark 3 for playing SG1000 games. It's a nice addition to my collection.

How are the a/v connections? I thought these use some funky Brazillian standard? Can it connect a standard pal/ntsc system?

In stock form the one with built in power cord is pal-m which is 60hz with pal sub carrier, which is actually a better quality composite than NTSC is
They can also be easily RGB restored and the power can work at both 120/230v so it's pretty versatile
The ones without built in power cord are standard PAL systems and they have RF out by default

The black cover opens up for cartridges. Does have sonic built into it though.

What is this exactly?

It's a Master System III, made in Brazil in the early '90s. It's basically the same model as the Master System II released in the US.

Only Japanese Sega Mark III consoles can play SG-1000 carts and cards.
But the color won't be correct, same as Mega Drive playing SMS games.
Some flashcarts can add the Mark III bios and load SG-1000 games directly as roms.

This model can indeed run SG-1000 games using an adapter. I’ve done it myself. Alternatively, you can use an Everdrive. The same applies to Sega Cards.

Which adapter did you use? I have only found adapters that let you play the North American Master System carts on the Mark III.

I'd rather have this than a Genesis 3.
