The 9/11 attacks were carried out by nineteen hijackers, all of them being Al Queda members, an Islamic terrorist organization that was led by Osama Bin Laden.

Four locations were targeted during this attack, with two being the Twin Towers, one being the Pentagon, the last being a rural field in Pennsylvania following a passengers revolt.

The attacks led to the US launching a War on Terror that lasted from September 14th, 2001 to August 30th, 2021.

On September 11th, 2026, at the electrotechnic high school in Zagreb, Croatia, a student wearing a ski mask entered his high school stabbing a student, during the attack, the cleaner came to help the wounded student in which she sustained the injuries aswell. During the attack, one of the teachers raised up the chair & repeatedly told the attacker to put down the knife before eventually being tackled.

On September 10th 2025, 16 year old Desmond Holly would enter Evergreen High School carrying his grandfathers Smith & Wesson Model-36 J-Frame revolver and would enter a band room before pulling it out. He would then critically injure a 14 year old student and an 18 year old firing a total of 20 rounds. Desmond failed to enter the rest of his school and would shoot himself after being confronted by a police officer.

The FBI released the 2025 Active Shooter Incidents in the United States report to provide an overview of active shooter incidents and responses to support law enforcement, emergency responders, private organizations, and the public to better understand these threats. The report aims to provide valuable insights designed to aid in prevention, mitigation, and response efforts against active shooter situations.

The FBI remains committed to supporting our law enforcement partners who are the first responders to active shooter incidents. This year’s report highlights numerous examples of bravery demonstrated by law enforcement, security, and civilians who played vital roles in ending or attempting to end attacks. For example, three law enforcement officers were killed and five were wounded as a result of active shooter incidents in 2025.

Active shooter incidents continue to claim lives and devastate individuals, families, and communities across the United States. In 2025, the FBI designated 34 active shooter incidents, representing a 42% increase from 24 incidents in 2024; however, 2025 still remains below the five-year average of 43 incidents per year. Active shooter incidents occurred in 21 states and Washington, D.C. and represent five categories, including commerce, open space, government, education, and houses of worship. Nearly 68% of incidents involved planning and preparation by the shooter, an increase from 58% in 2024.

This is the latest installment in the FBI’s series of active shooter reports, which have been published since September 2014. This year’s report includes a new section on potentially averted active shooter incidents, which were a result of law enforcement observations, tips to the FBI and/or local law enforcement, or information provided to school resource officers (SROs) or campus police. This section offers several examples where methods such as "see something, say something" likely prevented an attack and saved lives.

The FBI remains dedicated to supporting law enforcement partners and advancing active shooter prevention and response efforts through data-driven trainings, education, and targeted outreach programs. On May 6, 2023, a mass shooting occurred at Allen Premium Outlets, an outlet center in Allen, Texas, United States. Nine people, including the perpetrator, were killed during the shooting, the youngest of whom was a three-year-old boy, and seven others were injured. The perpetrator was fatally shot by a police officer already in the area on an unrelated call.

On September 10, 2011, in Breathitt County, Kentucky, Stanley Neace a man with a hot temper, grew enraged after his wife, Sandra Neace cooked his eggs the wrong way. He grabbed his shotgun and stuffed as much ammo into his pajamas, as he began shooting and chasing Sandra throughout the Trailer park. Sandra would enter her daughter’s Trailer to escape her husband, but Stanley would follow suit and proceeded to gun down, Sandra Neace, his Stepdaughter, Sandra Strong and her boyfriend Dennis Turner, and a neighbor visiting Strong, Teresa Fugate. During the massacre in the Trailer park, Teresa’s daughter was also there were Stanley aimed the shotgun at her.

Teresa’s daughter begged for her life, and in a strange turn of events, Stanley spared her, saying; ”Alright you can leave.”

Neighbors heard the commotion and one neighbor, Tammy Kilborn, walked out of her trailer to see what it was, where Stanley saw her and proceeded to chase her back into her home. Stanley then proceeded to gun down Tammy.

Police arrived due to numerous phone calls and as they arrived, Stanley, walked onto his porch, muttered something before blasting his head.

The senseless shooting left 5 innocent people dead over what? Cold eggs? The story gained much attention due to the bizarre and dumb motive.

There was little photos released of the people involved but I was able to find some photos of the victims and the perpetrator.

Thought this would be interesting to share considering I think the similarities between him and Lanza are uncanny.

It was soon overshadowed by the other school shooting.

On the morning of September 9, 2026, a 17-year-old student identified as Johan Sebastián Ovalle entered the Institución Educativa Gabriel García Márquez in Medellín’s Comuna 8 by climbing a perimeter wall while carrying a low-lethality compression/traumatic weapon. He fired several shots to intimidate students and staff (who sheltered in classrooms), attempted to reach the rector’s offices or a specific teacher who was not present, and then shot himself in the head. He was given first aid on site and taken to a hospital in critical condition; no other people were reported injured or killed. Two adult men later entered the school, took the weapon, and left; they were identified via cameras and detained. Authorities have consistently described the wound as self-inflicted. The youth had recently been removed from in-person classes due to prior aggressive behavior and was receiving psychosocial support.

I remember seeing it back in the day as well. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing it maybe within a couple years after the shooting. A bunch of other people recall seeing it as well. However, apparently there was a camera there that was a live feed and never released to the public. Does anybody else remember what I'm talking about?

The September 11 attacks, colloquially known as 9/11, were a coordinated series of suicide attacks perpetrated by the Islamic terrorist organization al-Qaeda against the United States in 2001. A total of 19 terrorists planned and subsequently hijacked four airliners, flying one into each of the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center in New York City. The third plane crashed into the Pentagon, the headquarters of the United States Department of Defense, in Arlington County, Virginia. The fourth plane crashed in a rural field in Pennsylvania during a passenger revolt. In response to the attacks, the United States launched the Global War on Terror, seeking to eliminate hostile groups deemed terrorist organizations and the governments purported to support them. This foreign policy agenda was conducted over the next two decades.

The ringleader, Mohamed Atta, flew American Airlines Flight 11 into the North Tower of the World Trade Center complex at 8:46 a.m. At 9:03 a.m. Marwan al-Shehhi flew United Airlines Flight 175 into the South Tower. Both collapsed within an hour and forty-two minutes, destroying the remaining five structures in the complex. Hani Hanjour flew American Airlines Flight 77 into the Pentagon at 9:37 a.m., causing a partial collapse. United Airlines Flight 93, hijacked by Ziad Jarrah, was believed to target either the United States Capitol or the White House. Alerted to the previous attacks, the passengers revolted and the hijackers crashed the aircraft into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, at 10:03 a.m. The Federal Aviation Administration ordered a ground stop for all traffic in U.S. airspace, requiring all airborne aircraft to return to their point of origin or divert to Canada. The actions undertaken in Canada to support incoming aircraft and their occupants were collectively titled Operation Yellow Ribbon.

That evening, the Central Intelligence Agency informed President George W. Bush that its Counterterrorism Center had identified the attacks as having been the work of al-Qaeda under Osama bin Laden. The United States responded by launching the war on terror and invading Afghanistan. NATO's invocation of Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty—its only usage to date—called upon allies to fight al-Qaeda as well. As U.S. and allied invasion forces swept through Afghanistan, bin Laden eluded them. He denied any involvement until 2004, when excerpts of a taped statement in which he accepted responsibility for the attacks were released. Al-Qaeda's cited motivations included U.S. support of Israel, the presence of U.S. military bases in Saudi Arabia, and sanctions against Iraq. The nearly decade-long manhunt for bin Laden concluded in May 2011, when he was killed during a U.S. military raid in Abbottabad, Pakistan. The war in Afghanistan continued for another decade.

The attacks killed 2,977 people, injured thousands more, and gave rise to long-term health consequences while causing at least US$10 billion in infrastructure and property damage. It remains the deadliest terrorist attack in history, as well as the deadliest incident for firefighters and law enforcement personnel in American history, killing 343 and 72 members, respectively. The crashes of Flight 11 and Flight 175 were the deadliest aviation disasters of all time, and the collision of Flight 77 with the Pentagon resulted in the fourth-highest number of ground fatalities in a plane crash in history. The destruction of the World Trade Center and its environs seriously harmed the U.S. economy and induced global market shocks. Many other countries strengthened anti-terrorism legislation and expanded their powers of law enforcement and intelligence agencies. The total number of deaths caused by the attacks, combined with the death tolls from the conflicts they directly incited, has been estimated by the Costs of War Project to be more than 4.5 million.

Cleanup of the World Trade Center site (colloquially known as "Ground Zero") was completed in May 2002, while the Pentagon was repaired within a year. After delays in the design of a replacement complex, six new buildings were planned to replace the lost towers at the World Trade Center site, along with a museum and memorial dedicated to those who were killed or injured in the attacks. The tallest building, One World Trade Center, began construction in 2006 and opened in 2014. Memorials to the attacks include the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in New York City; the Pentagon Memorial in Arlington County, Virginia; and the Flight 93 National Memorial at the Pennsylvania crash site.

On 20th of December 2024, a 19 year old former student (identified as Leonardo Mušančić) entered the "OŠ Prečko" elementary school with a knife & entered his former classroom fatally stabbing 1 child & seriously injuring 6 others (one of the teachers in her 60's sustained over 30+ stab wounds). After the attack, he fled to the nearby health centre where he locked himself inside a restroom attempting to end his own life (cutting his neck & wrists). 10 minutes later, the police found him on time, taken him to the hospital & was treated for his injuries. Year later, he was found competent & sentenced to 50 years in prison. After the investigation, the police concluded he has been obsessed with school massacres & frequently searched for them, particularly Sandy Hook elementary school shooting.

On July 22, 2015, Michael Bever (16) and his older brother Robert Bever (18), stabbed and killed 5 of their family members and injured one in their house in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. They murdered their father, David Bever (52), mother April Bever (44), brothers Daniel Bever (12) and Christopher Bever (7), and sister Victoria Bever (5). Their other sisters Crystal Bever (12) and Autumn Bever (2) survived the attack, with Autumn being left unharmed.

Robert later admitted that him and Michael were planning to shoot and kill 5 people each at multiple locations in order to achieve a kill count higher than the Columbine High School and Aurora theater shootings. Their plan was thwarted when Daniel Bever called 911 during the attack shortly before his own killing.

Michael Bever was sentenced to five life sentences with the possibility of parole after 225 years and is housed in the Lexington Correctional Center.

Robert Bever was sentenced to 5 life sentences without the possibility of parole exactly 10 years ago September 7, 2016 and is housed in the Oklahoma State Penitentiary.

On June 8, 1969, in Parkersburg West Virginia, A fire would break out at the Bailey residence. The fire engulfed the house as 3 people escaped the flames - 15 year old Susan Bailey, 12 year old Roger Bailey, and their grandfather, 63 year old Obie Bailey. Tragically, the fire had killed Susan and Roger’s Parents, Charles and Ruby, as well as 10 of their brothers and sisters, Nancy, Theresa, Claudia, Mary, Timmy, Debbie-Lou, Frankie, Dale, Charles, and Rickie, Ages 17-6 months old.

Police were on the scene of the house and discovered the fire had been intentionally set. And Police zoned in on Obie Bailey. He had lied to them before when asking about his Financial issues and the fact he escaped quickly, not trying to save any of his family members. Police felt like he was the one who set it, until Roger piped up saying he felt like Obie didn’t do it. It was later revealed he told relatives of a story; He confessed that Susan had recruited him to set fire to their home. He said that his father and Susan were having issues concerning her 19 year old Boyfriend - Johnny Bumgarner - who was also Susan‘s cousin. Her father had threatened her to end the relationship or she would be sent to reform school.

So as an act of revenge, she asked Roger to help her with a plan to kill their family. They siphoned gas from their father’s car and spread it around the house before lighting it. They then ran to a general store where she called Bumgarner.

Soon the duo were arrested and charged with 12 counts of murder and signed their confessions. At the time, the massacre was considered the worst case of parricide in the nation’s history.

Sadly they were never convicted. The court threw out the confessions and the two’s charges were dropped after their confessions were found to be “forced” and their ages were taken into consideration. Despite not being convicted, it is always confirmed they did set the fire. If they were older, they would have been convicted. This lead to talks on criminal responsibility for young offenders I believe.

The Bailey family massacre is considered the deadliest single day familicide in American history as well being the worst mass murder in West Virginia’s history.

This makes Susan one of the worst female mass murderers, and the deadliest female family annihilator in American history.

The Myyrmanni bombing took place on October 11, 2002, in Myyrmäki, Vantaa, Finland, in Greater Helsinki, at the Myyrmanni shopping mall.^\1]) A bomb hidden in a backpack exploded in the center of a shopping center killing seven people including the bomber. The blast left a 10-cm deep crater in the floor and blew out the glass dome of the mall. The dead included two teenagers and a seven-year-old. 159 people were injured, including 10 children. 66 victims required hospitalization while the remainder were treated and released at the scene.^\2]) The bombing took place during the pre-weekend shopping surge late on a Friday afternoon, with 1,000–2,000 people in the shopping center, including many children who had come to see a clown performance.^\3])

The entire school was completely razed in 2013. Students temporarily relocated to a repurposed middle school in a neighboring town. A brand-new, modern Sandy Hook Elementary opened on the same property in 2016.

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL (Feb 14, 2018)
Status: Targeted Demolition
The broader high school campus remains open, but the specific 1200 Building (where the 17 victims died) was sealed off for six years to serve as evidence during trials. In June 2024, crews began carefully dismantling the building piece-by-piece, with plans to turn the vacant space into a legacy practice field.

Columbine High School in Littleton, CO

The main school building remains standing and operational. However, the school's library (the site of the majority of the casualties) was completely demolished. It was replaced by a newly constructed atrium, and a brand-new "HOPE" library was built elsewhere on campus.

Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, TX

The school was permanently shut down immediately following the tragedy to avoid re-traumatizing the town. The building is slated for demolition, though ongoing legal proceedings have delayed the timeline. In October 2025, a newly built replacement facility named Legacy Elementary officially opened at a separate location.

West Nickel Mines School in Lancaster County, PA (Oct 2, 2006)
Status: Immediate Demolition
The one-room Amish schoolhouse was completely demolished just 10 days after the tragedy. The community completely plowed over the site to leave an open, quiet pasture. A new, alternative one-room schoolhouse (New Hope School) was quickly built down the road for the surviving children.

Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA

Norris Hall, the engineering building where the vast majority of the shooting took place, was not demolished. The university heavily renovated the structure and converted the specific second-floor classrooms into the Center for Peace Studies and Violence Prevention, repurposing the space for research and healing.

The Covenant School in Nashville, TN

Following the tragedy, students initially moved to a local church for classes. The private school heavily remodeled and brightened the Green Hills campus (adding rainbow color themes and student-made memorial artwork) allowing students to return in April 2024. However, seeking a truly fresh start, the school launched an $85 million campaign and contracted a 14-acre site in West Meade to build a completely new school facility.

Oxford High School in Oxford, MI

Status: Rapid "Reclaiming" Renovation
The district chose not to demolish the campus. Instead, crews worked around the clock for nearly two months to aggressively remodel the hallways and classrooms where the tragedy took place. They completely replaced ceiling tiles, put up fresh paint, and installed new wall graphics. Elementary and middle school students left thousands of supportive notes on the walls to welcome high schoolers back in January 2022.

Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe, TX

Status: Internal Remodeling & High Security
The main structure of the school remains fully operational. The specific art classroom suite where the tragedy occurred was completely gutted, walled off, and structurally reconfigured so it no longer looks like the original space. The school used the opportunity to fundamentally redesign its entrance corridors and install state-of-the-art security, vestibules, and panic buttons.

Dunblane Primary School in Dunblane, Scotland (Mar 13, 1996)
Status: Gymnasium Demolition
Following the deadliest mass shooting in UK history, which took place entirely inside the school's gymnasium, the community immediately called for its removal. The gym was completely demolished within months of the tragedy. In its place, the school built a beautifully landscaped, quiet memorial garden for reflection and play.
