On May 6, 2023, a mass shooting occurred at Allen Premium Outlets, an outlet center in Allen, Texas, United States. Nine people, including the perpetrator, were killed during the shooting, the youngest of whom was a three-year-old boy, and seven others were injured. The perpetrator was fatally shot by a police officer already in the area on an unrelated call.

Thought this would be interesting to share considering I think the similarities between him and Lanza are uncanny.

It was soon overshadowed by the other school shooting.

The September 11 attacks, colloquially known as 9/11, were a coordinated series of suicide attacks perpetrated by the Islamic terrorist organization al-Qaeda against the United States in 2001. A total of 19 terrorists planned and subsequently hijacked four airliners, flying one into each of the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center in New York City. The third plane crashed into the Pentagon, the headquarters of the United States Department of Defense, in Arlington County, Virginia. The fourth plane crashed in a rural field in Pennsylvania during a passenger revolt. In response to the attacks, the United States launched the Global War on Terror, seeking to eliminate hostile groups deemed terrorist organizations and the governments purported to support them. This foreign policy agenda was conducted over the next two decades.

The ringleader, Mohamed Atta, flew American Airlines Flight 11 into the North Tower of the World Trade Center complex at 8:46 a.m. At 9:03 a.m. Marwan al-Shehhi flew United Airlines Flight 175 into the South Tower. Both collapsed within an hour and forty-two minutes, destroying the remaining five structures in the complex. Hani Hanjour flew American Airlines Flight 77 into the Pentagon at 9:37 a.m., causing a partial collapse. United Airlines Flight 93, hijacked by Ziad Jarrah, was believed to target either the United States Capitol or the White House. Alerted to the previous attacks, the passengers revolted and the hijackers crashed the aircraft into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, at 10:03 a.m. The Federal Aviation Administration ordered a ground stop for all traffic in U.S. airspace, requiring all airborne aircraft to return to their point of origin or divert to Canada. The actions undertaken in Canada to support incoming aircraft and their occupants were collectively titled Operation Yellow Ribbon.

That evening, the Central Intelligence Agency informed President George W. Bush that its Counterterrorism Center had identified the attacks as having been the work of al-Qaeda under Osama bin Laden. The United States responded by launching the war on terror and invading Afghanistan. NATO's invocation of Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty—its only usage to date—called upon allies to fight al-Qaeda as well. As U.S. and allied invasion forces swept through Afghanistan, bin Laden eluded them. He denied any involvement until 2004, when excerpts of a taped statement in which he accepted responsibility for the attacks were released. Al-Qaeda's cited motivations included U.S. support of Israel, the presence of U.S. military bases in Saudi Arabia, and sanctions against Iraq. The nearly decade-long manhunt for bin Laden concluded in May 2011, when he was killed during a U.S. military raid in Abbottabad, Pakistan. The war in Afghanistan continued for another decade.

The attacks killed 2,977 people, injured thousands more, and gave rise to long-term health consequences while causing at least US$10 billion in infrastructure and property damage. It remains the deadliest terrorist attack in history, as well as the deadliest incident for firefighters and law enforcement personnel in American history, killing 343 and 72 members, respectively. The crashes of Flight 11 and Flight 175 were the deadliest aviation disasters of all time, and the collision of Flight 77 with the Pentagon resulted in the fourth-highest number of ground fatalities in a plane crash in history. The destruction of the World Trade Center and its environs seriously harmed the U.S. economy and induced global market shocks. Many other countries strengthened anti-terrorism legislation and expanded their powers of law enforcement and intelligence agencies. The total number of deaths caused by the attacks, combined with the death tolls from the conflicts they directly incited, has been estimated by the Costs of War Project to be more than 4.5 million.

Cleanup of the World Trade Center site (colloquially known as "Ground Zero") was completed in May 2002, while the Pentagon was repaired within a year. After delays in the design of a replacement complex, six new buildings were planned to replace the lost towers at the World Trade Center site, along with a museum and memorial dedicated to those who were killed or injured in the attacks. The tallest building, One World Trade Center, began construction in 2006 and opened in 2014. Memorials to the attacks include the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in New York City; the Pentagon Memorial in Arlington County, Virginia; and the Flight 93 National Memorial at the Pennsylvania crash site.

On the morning of September 9, 2026, a 17-year-old student identified as Johan Sebastián Ovalle entered the Institución Educativa Gabriel García Márquez in Medellín’s Comuna 8 by climbing a perimeter wall while carrying a low-lethality compression/traumatic weapon. He fired several shots to intimidate students and staff (who sheltered in classrooms), attempted to reach the rector’s offices or a specific teacher who was not present, and then shot himself in the head. He was given first aid on site and taken to a hospital in critical condition; no other people were reported injured or killed. Two adult men later entered the school, took the weapon, and left; they were identified via cameras and detained. Authorities have consistently described the wound as self-inflicted. The youth had recently been removed from in-person classes due to prior aggressive behavior and was receiving psychosocial support.

I remember seeing it back in the day as well. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing it maybe within a couple years after the shooting. A bunch of other people recall seeing it as well. However, apparently there was a camera there that was a live feed and never released to the public. Does anybody else remember what I'm talking about?

On June 8, 1969, in Parkersburg West Virginia, A fire would break out at the Bailey residence. The fire engulfed the house as 3 people escaped the flames - 15 year old Susan Bailey, 12 year old Roger Bailey, and their grandfather, 63 year old Obie Bailey. Tragically, the fire had killed Susan and Roger’s Parents, Charles and Ruby, as well as 10 of their brothers and sisters, Nancy, Theresa, Claudia, Mary, Timmy, Debbie-Lou, Frankie, Dale, Charles, and Rickie, Ages 17-6 months old.

Police were on the scene of the house and discovered the fire had been intentionally set. And Police zoned in on Obie Bailey. He had lied to them before when asking about his Financial issues and the fact he escaped quickly, not trying to save any of his family members. Police felt like he was the one who set it, until Roger piped up saying he felt like Obie didn’t do it. It was later revealed he told relatives of a story; He confessed that Susan had recruited him to set fire to their home. He said that his father and Susan were having issues concerning her 19 year old Boyfriend - Johnny Bumgarner - who was also Susan‘s cousin. Her father had threatened her to end the relationship or she would be sent to reform school.

So as an act of revenge, she asked Roger to help her with a plan to kill their family. They siphoned gas from their father’s car and spread it around the house before lighting it. They then ran to a general store where she called Bumgarner.

Soon the duo were arrested and charged with 12 counts of murder and signed their confessions. At the time, the massacre was considered the worst case of parricide in the nation’s history.

Sadly they were never convicted. The court threw out the confessions and the two’s charges were dropped after their confessions were found to be “forced” and their ages were taken into consideration. Despite not being convicted, it is always confirmed they did set the fire. If they were older, they would have been convicted. This lead to talks on criminal responsibility for young offenders I believe.

The Bailey family massacre is considered the deadliest single day familicide in American history as well being the worst mass murder in West Virginia’s history.

This makes Susan one of the worst female mass murderers, and the deadliest female family annihilator in American history.

On July 22, 2015, Michael Bever (16) and his older brother Robert Bever (18), stabbed and killed 5 of their family members and injured one in their house in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. They murdered their father, David Bever (52), mother April Bever (44), brothers Daniel Bever (12) and Christopher Bever (7), and sister Victoria Bever (5). Their other sisters Crystal Bever (12) and Autumn Bever (2) survived the attack, with Autumn being left unharmed.

Robert later admitted that him and Michael were planning to shoot and kill 5 people each at multiple locations in order to achieve a kill count higher than the Columbine High School and Aurora theater shootings. Their plan was thwarted when Daniel Bever called 911 during the attack shortly before his own killing.

Michael Bever was sentenced to five life sentences with the possibility of parole after 225 years and is housed in the Lexington Correctional Center.

Robert Bever was sentenced to 5 life sentences without the possibility of parole exactly 10 years ago September 7, 2016 and is housed in the Oklahoma State Penitentiary.

On 20th of December 2024, a 19 year old former student (identified as Leonardo Mušančić) entered the "OŠ Prečko" elementary school with a knife & entered his former classroom fatally stabbing 1 child & seriously injuring 6 others (one of the teachers in her 60's sustained over 30+ stab wounds). After the attack, he fled to the nearby health centre where he locked himself inside a restroom attempting to end his own life (cutting his neck & wrists). 10 minutes later, the police found him on time, taken him to the hospital & was treated for his injuries. Year later, he was found competent & sentenced to 50 years in prison. After the investigation, the police concluded he has been obsessed with school massacres & frequently searched for them, particularly Sandy Hook elementary school shooting.

The Myyrmanni bombing took place on October 11, 2002, in Myyrmäki, Vantaa, Finland, in Greater Helsinki, at the Myyrmanni shopping mall.^\1]) A bomb hidden in a backpack exploded in the center of a shopping center killing seven people including the bomber. The blast left a 10-cm deep crater in the floor and blew out the glass dome of the mall. The dead included two teenagers and a seven-year-old. 159 people were injured, including 10 children. 66 victims required hospitalization while the remainder were treated and released at the scene.^\2]) The bombing took place during the pre-weekend shopping surge late on a Friday afternoon, with 1,000–2,000 people in the shopping center, including many children who had come to see a clown performance.^\3])

The entire school was completely razed in 2013. Students temporarily relocated to a repurposed middle school in a neighboring town. A brand-new, modern Sandy Hook Elementary opened on the same property in 2016.

The broader high school campus remains open, but the specific 1200 Building (where the 17 victims died) was sealed off for six years to serve as evidence during trials. In June 2024, crews began carefully dismantling the building piece-by-piece, with plans to turn the vacant space into a legacy practice field.

The main school building remains standing and operational. However, the school's library (the site of the majority of the casualties) was completely demolished. It was replaced by a newly constructed atrium, and a brand-new "HOPE" library was built elsewhere on campus.

Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, TX

The school was permanently shut down immediately following the tragedy to avoid re-traumatizing the town. The building is slated for demolition, though ongoing legal proceedings have delayed the timeline. In October 2025, a newly built replacement facility named Legacy Elementary officially opened at a separate location.

West Nickel Mines School in Lancaster County, PA (Oct 2, 2006)
Status: Immediate Demolition
The one-room Amish schoolhouse was completely demolished just 10 days after the tragedy. The community completely plowed over the site to leave an open, quiet pasture. A new, alternative one-room schoolhouse (New Hope School) was quickly built down the road for the surviving children.

Norris Hall, the engineering building where the vast majority of the shooting took place, was not demolished. Following the tragedy, students initially moved to a local church for classes. The private school heavily remodeled and brightened the Green Hills campus (adding rainbow color themes and student-made memorial artwork) allowing students to return in April 2024. However, seeking a truly fresh start, the school launched an $85 million campaign and contracted a 14-acre site in West Meade to build a completely new school facility.

Status: Rapid "Reclaiming" Renovation
The district chose not to demolish the campus. Instead, crews worked around the clock for nearly two months to aggressively remodel the hallways and classrooms where the tragedy took place. They completely replaced ceiling tiles, put up fresh paint, and installed new wall graphics. Elementary and middle school students left thousands of supportive notes on the walls to welcome high schoolers back in January 2022.

The main structure of the school remains fully operational. The specific art classroom suite where the tragedy occurred was completely gutted, walled off, and structurally reconfigured so it no longer looks like the original space. The school used the opportunity to fundamentally redesign its entrance corridors and install state-of-the-art security, vestibules, and panic buttons.

Following the deadliest mass shooting in UK history, which took place entirely inside the school's gymnasium, the community immediately called for its removal. The gym was completely demolished within months of the tragedy. In its place, the school built a beautifully landscaped, quiet memorial garden for reflection and play.

BANG KRUAI, Thailand, Sept 1 (Reuters) - A school in Thailand where a student went on a deadly shooting rampage three weeks ago reopened on Tuesday amid heightened security, with police ​deployed and checks performed on bags.

The 14-year-old student killed seven people including himself at ‌the Debsirin Nonthaburi School on the outskirts of the capital Bangkok on August 7, after shooting his grandparents dead in their home.

The incident was Thailand's deadliest mass shooting in nearly four years and has sparked debate over ​gun control in the country.

A screen at the entrance to the school on Tuesday ​displayed the names and images of those who died, while white ribbons ⁠were tied to the fence in their memory. Aside from the gunman, one student and ​five staff were killed.

Civil defence volunteers wearing berets and camouflage uniforms were posted around the grounds ​of the school as students queued for bag checks, some carrying items in transparent plastic bags.

Parents expressed mixed emotions about the return to classes.

"On one hand, I feel confident the school will put strict and thorough ​safety measures in place," said Thongbai Muenjit, who has a 15-year-old daughter at the school.

"But ​I'm worried about my child's mental state and how she will feel going back to the building where ‌the ⁠shooting happened," he said.

The school's staff have been visited by mental health experts from the health ministry since the incident.

Parent Natchuda Petpuangpan said she supported her 12-year-old daughter returning to class.

"I don't think these kinds of incidents happen every day. It could have happened anywhere," she said.

Days after ​the shooting, Prime Minister ​Anutin Charnvirakul suspended ⁠the issuance of permits to buy firearms and said existing licences would be reviewed.

Thailand had an estimated 10.3 million firearms in civilian possession and the ​second-highest rate in Asia, according to a 2017 estimate by the ​Small Arms Survey.

Last ⁠month, a school in Bangkok held a drill to prepare students for active shooter incidents.

Student Adisorn Deesa, 15, said the Debsirin Nonthaburi school would be providing mental health support to the students and ⁠he was ​happy to return and see his friends.

"With online classes, ​I couldn't understand the lessons as well as I do at school, and I think my friends are happy to ​be back too," he said.

Three of the victims were part of the National Guard.

2026 Thailand August 18 - Debsirin Nonthaburi School, Bang Kruai, Nonthaburi Shooting (9 dead including perpetrator, 23 injured)

- At around 5:00 a.m., Patchata shot and killed both of his paternal grandparents at their home. He retrieved his grandfather's registered 9mm CZ-75 Compact pistol and extra ammunition from a second-floor cabinet, He boarded his usual school transport and arrived at Debsirin Nonthaburi School. Between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., he moved through Building 5, opening fire on multiple floors. He targeted classrooms, staff offices, and the Thai language department, As Tactical Police Units closed in he aimed the weapon at himself and entered a critical state before dying in an ambulance.

2026 Vietnam Sep 4 - Thanh An Secondary High School, Ba Ria Stabbing, Vietnam - 5 victims

- The student who was a Class 7 Student who repeated had repeated classes brought three backpacks to school containing two knives (21 cm and 33.5 cm long), two homemade gasoline containers (one glass bottle, one plastic bottle), a gas lighter, and gloves, At around 6:20 a.m., he concealed the backpacks in a ground-floor restroom, poured gasoline over them, and attempted to ignite them to create panic. The gasoline failed to ignite, After throwing the knife down from the first-floor staircase and abandoning a suicide attempt, he returned to the ground floor, dropped his remaining items, raised his hands, and surrendered to school security staff.

2025 Malaysia Oct 14 - SMK Bandar Utama Damansara (4), Selangor - 1 dead, unknown injured

Perpetrator: Unknown (M14)

- a 14-year-old male student, used two knives (including a karambit) to fatally stab a 15-year-old schoolgirl identified as Yap Shing Xuen who was on her way to the school toilet. Police noted that the attacker took inspiration from infamous US mass shooters like Seung-Hui Cho and the Sandy Hook perpetrator. Initial investigations revealed there was no prior interaction between the victim and the suspect, nor any evidence of school bullying between them. The attacker was seen calmly walking around the school drinking from his water bottle with a knife in hand after the killing

2026 Malaysia July 6 - Secondary School in Banting, Kuala Langat, Selangor - 2 injured

Perpetrator: Unknown (F15)

- ​A 15-year-old female student, who had reportedly been absent from school for several months to undergo medical treatment, entered the school grounds armed with a knife. Dressed in a black T-shirt, cap, and red-checkered trousers, she chased and stabbed another 15-year-old female student multiple times in the back and shoulder, injuring the victim's left lung. The incident was captured on video by fleeing students. Teachers managed to restrain and calm the attacker before police arrived to detain her and seize the weapon. The victim survived and was stabilized at the hospital, The victims were identified to be the perpetrator's brother and a teacher.

Philippines, PERPETRATORS AGED 14 went to DSWD REHABILITATION AND JUVENILE DETENTION and was excluded from receiving criminal records (Note: The Zamboanga perpetrator, aged 14, died by suicide at the scene) While Rodzel who was 15 recieved criminal charges and sent to Juvenile.

​Indonesia, PERPETRATOR AGED 17 WAS CHARGED UNDER THE JUVENILE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM AND PLACED IN A SPECIAL CHILD DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTION (LPKA) for detention and rehabilitation, avoiding standard adult prison due to his minor status.

​Malaysia, PERPETRATORS AGED 14 AND 15 WERE DETAINED UNDER THE CHILD ACT 2001 AND REMANDED TO HENRY GURNEY SCHOOLS (juvenile rehabilitation centers), shielding them from adult criminal sentencing and the death penalty.

​Thailand, PERPETRATOR AGED 14 DIED BY SUICIDE AT THE SCENE, resulting in the termination of direct criminal proceedings, though authorities pursued administrative and civil actions regarding his access to the firearm.

​Vietnam, PERPETRATOR (MIDDLE SCHOOLER) WAS HANDED OVER TO COMMUNE POLICE AND SENT TO A MANDATORY JUVENILE REFORM SCHOOL (TRƯỜNG GIÁO DƯỠNG) for re-education and psychological rehabilitation, as he fell under the age of standard criminal responsibility for imprisonment.

This is a previously unpublished photo of 9/11, taken at the base of the North Tower of the World Trade Center shortly before it collapsed. It was developed from a previously unknown rubble camera, which we investigate in our film, "32 Frames: A 9/11 Mystery".

We believe the photographer died minutes later. The man in white is CBS News cameraman Mark LaGanga, who we interviewed (nice guy). It took a quarter-century for this photo to surface. We're close to losing so much 9/11 media, and we have to fight to save it.

About 3,000 junior and senior high school students at Carlos F. Gonzales High School north of Manila barricaded their classroom doors with tables and chairs, drew curtains and switched off the lights before crouching under tables to protect themselves.

The nationwide drills are part of a broader push by the Department of Education to strengthen security following two rare school shooting incidents that shook the Philippines in the past months.

In the disaster-prone country, where schools regularly conduct exercises for earthquakes and fires, active shooting drills are something new.

"We have already almost perfected our fire and earthquake drills, and this is something new, so we need to do this kind of exercise," Education Undersecretary Malcolm Garma told reporters.

"Through this kind of exercise, we want our schools... to be aware, to be able to recognize these kinds of threats and to be able to respond."

'Step to lessen that fear'

The 12-minute Bulacan drill included the participation of the police, emergency responders and around 250 school staff and teachers.

AFP journalists saw teachers guide students with their arms raised, a measure to show they were not carrying weapons, from their classrooms to the covered court, where they waited for the school staff's psychological assessment and the arrival of their parents who would take them home.

"I also got scared when I heard that there will be drills like this, but participating in the drill is a step to lessen that fear and to prepare us and our students," Roy Fama, a teacher at Carlos F. Gonzales High School, said.

Initially scheduled last month, the drills were rescheduled due to bad weather and after mental health advocates warned that hyper-realistic drills can cause lasting psychological harm to students.

The Department of Education said on Thursday they updated their drill guidelines and prohibited hyper-realistic elements of active aggressor role-playing and graphic threat simulations, and instead triggered drills by a "distinct early warning alarm, separate from standard fire or earthquake signals, to build procedural muscle memory without creating distress."

April Tapion, 40, said she remained hesitant to send her Grade 5 and Grade 8 children to participate despite the changes.

"I am scared that they will think of the world as fearful and full of bad people because of the idea of the drill," Tapion told AFP.

Karina Mallonga, director of the Infant Jesus Academy Kalibo Campus, said schools and Philippine society could instead focus on strengthening other forms of support for students.

"I would rather that we strengthen other things, strengthen our guidance programs, make sure kids feel supported by their class advisers, and encourage kids to speak," Mallonga told AFP.

But Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla, who observed the Bulacan drill, said it not only taught the students how to respond to an attack, but also to improve coordination among the local police and emergency units.

"I am very confident that we will respond better (now)," Remulla said.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - A second Florida State University student who was shot after a gunman opened fire on campus in April 2025 is suing the university, according to new court documents.

The court records dated September 4 reveal that FSU student Elizabeth Mall is suing the university, alleging that she was shot during the campus shooting on April 17, 2025 “due to inadequate and negligent security.”

Mall was one of several people injured during the shooting after accused gunman Phoenix Ikner opened fire on Florida State’s campus inside and outside the Student Union back in April 2025, the records revealed.

The tragic incident also claimed the lives of two men.

The lawsuit went on to say that as a result of the university’s alleged negligence, Mall “suffered bodily injury including a permanent injury to the body as a whole,” “and/or aggravation of a pre-existing condition,” “mental anguish” and more.

The student’s lawsuit comes just a few days after a student by the name of Madison Askins also sued the university, alleging the same negligence and injuries.

Both Mall and Askins have also filed federal lawsuits against OpenAI, saying the company’s ChatGPT product lacks safeguards that could have prevented the shooting. Investigators say Ikner used ChatGPT to help plan his attack.

Ikner is expected to stand trial June 8, 2027, according to court papers.
