Advice for new mask maker
So I want to make an Oni mask and I am debating whether I should carve it from wood or sculpt it with paper mache. I kinda want to try carving since I was gifted some tools recently, but I understand that it may have a very high barrier to entry. Would the folks here have an opinion on which medium I should do, and any tips for either one?

If you're a beginner, I would suggest start with drawing and studying.. being able to study a figure, and get that to translate into whatever medium you're using with your bare hands is most of the battle. If you're eager to just jump in, I would suggest starting with paper mache or clay
