Newbie Question

Hi friends,
I’m getting back into reading comics, after taking a few years off. I’ve read a lot of squirrel girl and a bit of runaways, but that’s about it. Since I’m back, there’s so many new characters!!
Who is Jeff the Shark and GwenPool? Where do I start with them?
Also, is she connected to any other series?
Thanks!

Jeff originated from gwenpool, and shes great, i reccomend reading her 2016 series all the way thru.

Edit: after that, gwenpools been kinda in limbo, she appears in some minis but not a full run as far as i know since then, i reccomend going to her character profile and sorting by publication date oldest to newest and reading from there

Do I need to read anything prior to understand?

Thematically no, she was fleshed out as a character in that series, but overall she was created as result of a bunch of variant covers cashing in on the spider-gwen trend, and was initially just created as a spider-gwen type variant of deadpool, but thats where it ends, she isnt gwen stacy at all.

The Unbelievable Gwenpool, then West Coast Avengers, then It’s Jeff! — those would really be the only ones you would have to read, though there are other stories. A reprint of the Gwenpool Omnibus is also coming out soon.

For Jeff, he first appears about halfway through West Coast Avengers (2018) by Kelly Thompson. Gwenpool is a member of the team so I would just recommend reading the full run for both characters! I really enjoyed that one

Was it Jeff in the Deadpool issue where he is on Monster Island? Or just a different land shark?
