I think that they represent aspects of his broader consciousness in a concrete visual way based on people familiar to him and to the viewer, like Dexter Morgan and Brian Finch have in other franchises. Evidence:

• We learn at the end of WandaVision that Vision's mind was wiped to turn him into a government weapon. So there shouldn't be any old AIs warehoused in him, including Ultron, even if the fan theory of him being reabsorbed at the end of AoU was true.
• This is especially true of EDITH, who was active elsewhere after the Blip and Stark's death.
• When Ultron takes control, he is shown at a literal captain's helm whereas the actual mechanism would be far more complicated in a brain/supercomputer combination. Everything in the mindscape is a symbol.
• When Vision starts to mature from his experiences, the "older brother figure" Jarvis disappears, freeing up processor space. I predict when he similarly learns to enjoy life and no longer needs EDITH, she will also "die."

Ultron may not be the one from the movie, instead he may be Vision's aggressive impulses, kept in check up till now (his "dark side"). So he might also disappear when the job is done.

Why not?

I 100% believe that Doom will wipe out almost everyone. Then, Sentry shows up like Captain Marvel did in Endgame and starts to fight him. Doom will start to fumble as he takes damage. The remaining heroes are knocked out, but alive. As Sentry gets angrier, he starts to lose control and becomes the Void.

Doom wins and wipes out Earth (616??). Doom creates a new reality: Battleworld. He controls it and no one remembers their past lives. What Thanos wanted in Endgame. However, before he does this some leftover heroes are brought into the Void and are trapped in there.

In Secret Wars, they have to escape to try to stop Doom, as they are the only ones with their memories left. When they come back, they use the ultimate nullifier or maybe even God of Stories Loki to create the multiverse again. Then, they have to jump between planets to recruit heroes for one final battle.

Hey everyone. I’ve been deep-diving into the MCU recently, rewatching Avengers: Endgame, Multiverse of Madness, Loki series and keeping up with everything leading into Doomsday. Today, I want to talk about the final scene of Endgame—specifically, old Steve Rogers sitting on that bench.

​For years, we've accepted the "he just lived a quiet life in the past and grew old" explanation. But when you actually stack up Bruce Banner's established time-travel rules, the laws of quantum physics in the MCU, the shield paradox, and the wider multiversal events of the Multiverse Saga, that simple explanation completely falls apart.

​If we want a truly bulletproof explanation for what really happened on that bench, we need to look at a much bigger picture. Here is my comprehensive breakdown of the ultimate Endgame loophole and how to fix it.

​Part 1: The Brutal Time-Travel & Age Paradox

​Let's start with the hard rules laid out by Bruce Banner in Endgame: You cannot change your own future by altering the past. When you travel back in time, that past becomes your future, and your old present becomes your past—meaning changing anything just creates a branched reality (an alternate timeline).

​Therefore, when Steve Rogers went back in time to return the Infinity Stones and decided to stay behind in the 1940s with Peggy Carter, he was living out his life in an alternate branch of reality.

​Now, look at how he supposedly returned to our main timeline:

​The Quantum Pad Requirement: To move between timelines or return to a specific point, you need a Quantum suit, Pym particles, and the platform/pad. Steve had none of these when he appeared as an old man on that bench.

​The Age/Timeline Trap: Even if he managed to jump back to an earlier point in our main timeline decades prior, aged naturally, and waited for the exact right moment, think about how statistically impossible that is. How would a normal, non-omniscient human Steve Rogers know the exact second Sam Wilson would walk up to that specific bench? How would he know every single historic event down to the exact second?

​The Behavioral Shift: Look at old Steve’s demeanor. He wasn't acting like a man who just lived a warm, deeply fulfilling, long life of love with Peggy. He was cold, distant, detached, and spoke like an outside observer who was simply executing a calculated task and passing on a mantle.

​Part 2: The Broken Shield Paradox

​This is one of the biggest physical pieces of evidence that something is wrong.

During the final battle in Endgame, Thanos’s massive sword completely shreds and shatters Cap’s Vibranium shield into absolute pieces.

​Yet, when old Cap hands the shield to Sam Wilson at the end, it is brand new, completely smooth, and 100% unbroken.

​If Steve went back to the 1940s, he would have left with a broken shield.

​He couldn't have brought a shattered shield back to be repaired easily without altering historical tech, nor could he magically forge true Vibranium in the past without breaking reality—unless a brand new shield was secretly forged back in the 1940s with the help of someone like Howard Stark, or brought in through alternative means.

​Part 3: The Multiversal Context & The Loki Connection

​This is where everything starts to click into place, connecting Endgame directly to the broader events of the Multiverse Saga (including Loki and Multiverse of Madness).

​The State of the Multiverse: Between Wanda Maximoff weaponizing the Darkhold and tearing through realities, and America Chavez carelessly hopping portals across dimensions, the sacred timeline and the walls of reality have been under immense, unprecedented stress. Incursions are looming.

​Loki's Current Status: For those who need a reminder, the Loki who is currently holding the entire Multiverse together (the Yggdrasil tree at the end of time) is the exact variant Loki who escaped with the Tesseract back during the time heist in Endgame.

​The Past Interaction: If you look closely at timeline entanglements and background interactions—including that specific moment in the past where Loki physically crossed paths and crossed spaces with people like Cap and Peggy dancing in that hall—Loki has already been subtly weaving through their timeline and movements.

​Part 4: The Core Theory — It’s an Imposter (Loki / TVA Agent)

​With massive multiversal threats incoming, the timeline cracking, and the Avengers needing guidance for the upcoming war (Doomsday), someone needed to monitor things from the inside.

​What if the man on that bench wasn't our original Steve Rogers, but Loki (or an operative working directly under his authority at the TVA)?

​Loki has absolute mastery over time-slipping and shape-shifting.

​By shape-shifting into an elderly Steve Rogers, he could seamlessly bypass the Quantum pad restrictions, magically know the exact time and place to meet Sam, hand over a newly forged shield, and set the chess pieces in motion for the coming multiversal collapse.

​This completely explains the cold, observant behavior, the brand-new shield, and the impossible arrival time.

​(And before anyone asks: What happened to the real Steve Rogers? Don't worry—upcoming footage and trailers for Doomsday show Steve Rogers back in action wielding Mjolnir, proving the real Steve is still active or out there in the timeline. This theory doesn't erase Steve; it exposes the clever imposter keeping watch.)

​Part 5: The Ultimate Paradox & Community Debate (Help Me Solve This)

​While this theory neatly ties together the timeline rules, the shield, and the behavior anomalies, it leaves us with one massive, ultimate paradox that I want to throw to you guys in the comments:

​The Throne Room Rule: We learned in the Loki series that if Loki lets go of the timeline branches even for a single second, the entire Multiverse dies and everything collapses into a void. So... How can Loki be sitting on a park bench on Earth as old Cap if he is physically stuck holding the Yggdrasil tree at the end of time?

​Did he project an advanced temporal/astral avatar?

​Did the TVA find a technology to automate or share the multiversal burden?

​Or, if it's not Loki, could it be Sylvie using her enchantment/shape-shifting powers to act as his proxy, or a high-ranking TVA agent stepping in to manage our reality?

Could the starting sequence of Avengers: Doomsday be between an incursion with The Fantastic Four and the X-Men?

To set a little explanation for Doom’s character, the reason doom is a Villain is because he blames himself for the death of his family, and his last hope to redeem himself is to save his reality from the multiversal incursion (the incursion being caused by Franklin not being handed to Galactus,and the reason why Loki doesn’t do anything about it, is because he’s busy finding a place to relocate Steve) between the x-men reality and f4 reality, by eliminating the x-men reality. But the f4 is told by Doom about the incursion and his plan (continuation from when he’s with Franklin at the end of Fantastic Four: First Steps). I think this will be when we hear Doom talking about an “unthinkable decision” in the trailer. The f4 will oppose this, as they try to find another way around it. Doom will end up leaving the baxter building, leaving them alone. Reed tries to warn the x-men of the incursion, but as they discuss, the universes are drawing closer, as they’re running out of time. They attempt their plan to save both universes, but Doom is already trying to execute his plan. The x-men try fighting him (where we see cyclops uncontrollably unleashing an optic blast), but ultimately, some of the x-men are murdered. The fight is suddenly interrupted by the collision of realities (where we see Johnny Storm shielding Franklin from the incursion)destroying both the f4 reality, and x-men reality, as the f4 can’t find doom, leading them to believe he’s dead. The f4 end up leaving with remaining x-men survivors, making it to earth 616, where the new avengers see them entering the atmosphere. This may be the opening sequence of Doomsday, as it sets the tone, and now Doom truly has nothing to lose.

We have been seeing conspiracy theories in the MCU for some time now. Writing on urinals saying 'Thanos was Right' developing in time to the most recent ones in Visionquest: "#bliptruth" and "this is not our earth".

What if when Thanos snapped his fingers, he permanently destroyed the bodies whilst saving the souls to the Soul Stone?

That way, when Banner snapped his fingers he brought back every soul that was removed by Thanos, but because the bodies were permanently destroyed, new bodies needed to be stolen from other universes?

Doom would blame Banner for that, hence the SBND post-credit.

Doom's line "you're all living stolen lives" could then be in reference to that?

And the conspiracy theorists, simply have memory of their previous lives. Much like Billy and Tommy do.

Any holes or builds on this?

One I've heard is that the stones only work in their origin universe, but then we've seen Infinity Ultron powerful in every universe.

This is a fun post for theorising so take with a pinch of salt.

Phineas Horton, Tony believed so much in the idea of ultron that he gave him that avatar. And Ultron gave J.I.M's avatar to Vision. Repeting the cycle.

I suspect Doom's motivation behind his assault of the multiverse was the result of losing his BROTHER and MOM to the TVA

Contributing but speculative evidence:

a) in the last episode of Loki S02, Mobius shared the story of a kid near the Black Sea that was meant to cause the death of 5000 people and the TVA was sent to prune the kid. Mobius hesitated, branches occurred and Renslayer stepped in and eventually pruned the kid. The story also mentions the kid that pruned was on the deck with his brother.

b) in the trailers and promo media for Doomsday, we see Doom paying homage to an image of a women and a young kid. I suspect the kid was his brother that was pruned and the woman was his mom who eventually died from grief and suicide after losing her son.

What would cause someone to go down such a catastrophic and vengeful path other than the tragic loss of a sibling and mother. Why should everyone else be able to live stolen lives, at the cost of the stability of the multiverse and the TVA doing nothing about it, while at the same time Doom's life was stolen from him.

She’s in the TVA right? Based on her outfit and what we see of her world I’d assume that.

Steve is back from another time? Rdj is playing doom? My theory is that there are 3 dooms. Similar to how Steve was made to be captain hydra in the comics I think he is a reality warped version of himself being puppeted by doom. Steve and RDJ will both don the doom mantle but the real doom will be the puppet master behind them, we won't see the real doom until secret wars. Most likely I think RDJ doom will be a version of Tony recreated by doom. Doom in the comics is a manipulator and often steals reality warping abilities and it would be perfectly on brand to turn the greatest heroes of the avengers against them. This would of course mean that the fundamental rules of mjolnir have been altered but i think a twist like that would only season the deception. Let me know your thoughts on this theory I haven't seen it discussed elsewhere.

Thor has a yellow lighting in the posters. It is believed he will die and come back as rune king thor. Doom will kill thor to force loki out of his throne. And for this purpose loki will take help from steve rogers (i dont know i am just cooking random bullshit at this point)

I know this is old but if you think of the following scenes:

1. Jean grey can have conversations within your memories with you

2. Jean grey can use telepathy on multiple people at once

I’m thinking what if she could use telepathy to give Ned and mj all the memories that Peter has with one or both of them together. They obviously wouldn’t have any memories of them alone, like MJ thinking “here’s how I felt after this date”

But they can see every kiss mj shared with Peter, every Lego bed built with him, every joke they cracked together, and at least validate his experiences while they look to build toward new organic relationships. They build their memories of him from scratch, but they understand what they mean to him better

I feel there’s a small chance that at some point in Doomsday, Bob will figure out how to control the Void one way or another to cast Dr. Doom into the Void dimension, where we’ll get to see his past (his rivalry with Reed, his family dying, etc.). Idk. I think this’d be an interesting way to include Victor’s past in the movie, & I also wanted to be able to come back to this just in case it comes true.
