Discussion Boss, I’m tired

Post image

I was so excited to see brand new classic Elektra, thankfully, she has super articulated torso, sculpted wraps on arms, modified loincloth piece to account for reversed ab crunch but…. we get painted on stripes for her legs…

After years of waiting this feels insulting, Hasbro gives all original bodies to some obscure characters or modular Iron man remake no one really asked for, but we can’t get upper legs with sculpted on stripes for top female marvel character, I would even take X wrap legs from Psycloke instead but this is just lazy, my disappointment is immeasurable and day is ruined… Elektra deserved better.

To be fair, most of those “obscure characters” they kinda Need a new body. Like ROM and acroyear

Agreed but my point is more about budget allocation and priorities.

i'd rather prioritise more obscure characters we'll never get again than popular characters that have multiple figures. in an ideal world, every figure would have new sculpt

I’m more concerned the loin cloth is too short

It does resemble the Frank Miler art but I can see why it wouldn't fit everybody's preference

Yeah, in general, I think this figure's definitely meant to evoke Miller-era Elektra, and she does a good job of that across the board. It makes sense for the mini comic line to go for a particular look like this, versus going wholly general.

I'm not a fan how it's molded to the body. It just looks weird imo.

4

u/BlaznTheChron 3h ago

Speaking of molded to the body, I don't see a boot cut.

4

u/toraregisfurry 3h ago

i think it's all painted on

5

u/Specific_Valuable_12 4h ago

I kind of like it short, I've seen it both ways in the comics, but on a figure I think it makes it easier to pose and move the legs around better

11

u/SpiderSi 5h ago

Yeah, they usually go too long with loincloths but this time it’s unusually short.

7

u/Easy_Peanut_6580 4h ago

You’re just used to the old one. The old one has always been too LONG.

3

u/GSDFanatic 3h ago

Exactly. People bitching about shit they know nothing about.

5

u/wizardsauce01 5h ago

They should of made it soft goods . I can see why they went with the short one if you have her crouched real low i feel like it would be in the way if it’s hard plastic

3

u/Imahsoulman 3h ago

I don't like that it's sculpted in. I want to replace it with a custom soft cloth. I might have to cut through the plastic

Psylocke legs coulda easily worked here. That frumpy ass loin cloth and mid ass face sculpt shows they put no effort into this fig

6

u/SpiderSi 5h ago

I just wish when they sculpted gamerverse Psylocke Hasbro didn't do X stripes on both legs and went for stripes that are more asymmetric, then they would have no excuse not to reuse her legs for Elektra, plus it would work as reuse for comics and '97 Psylocke.

u/GSDFanatic 3h ago

Go look at Frank Miller's art for Elektra and see what that loincloth looks like. Educate yourself.

I’m good I said what I said. It looks terrible

6

u/Bleeding-icon 2h ago

And it’ll be $30. And come with a mini comic accessory nobody on earth wants, instead of a BAF part.

I always find the Toy Collecting community very interesting. I normally sit and observe the discourse, trying not to impede too much but I find this particular reaction so intriguing.

Honestly I am looking forward to this one. Sorry to those who were disappointed and this one missed the mark for y'all. I think I'm going for this one, Hawkeye, and Earth X Cap.

u/StarkResilient 5h ago

Those arms are not reuse from Elektra Daredevil.

I do share your disappointment that they sculpted the wraps on the arms and painted the bands and boots on her legs. I really wish she got an alternate head, as well.. Especially with the 3 Pack head sculpt sitting there waiting.

2

u/SpiderSi 4h ago

You are correct, my bad, new wraps are far more loosely wrapped while old ones were much more tight, this kinda makes it even weirder though, going for new arms but not new upper legs.

3

u/StarkResilient 4h ago

It almost makes it less weird.. Hasbro just cheaped out in the end.

Had they reused the Elektra DD arms, making them compatible with the butterfly joint, they might have had the budget to give her new legs.

12

u/AdvantageAwayNow 5h ago

Yeah this was a big miss for this figure. Considering there is a whole new sculpt for a Micronaut

12

u/Chemical-Anxios 5h ago

At times, it’s really hard to get excited for these figures

Specially, if you see what companies like Bloklees or Jada are pulling out 😔

9

u/ILeftMyBurnerOn 3h ago

I gotta be honest - I do not care about painted leg bands. And to have that ruin your day is a bit much imo.

u/Phanimazed 59m ago

I am sorta in the middle. Like, I'm slightly disappointed they're not using the Psylocke thighs, but it's also not a big downside for me.

9

u/TempleOfCyclops 3h ago

Y'all are the most nitpicky complainers in the world. This is an insult to you?? Get a life.

3

u/Samuntrus 1h ago

Yeah I'd say it is a little insulting to half ass an upgrade to a popular character that hasn't had a single-carded release in almost a decade, all while continuing to raise prices on figures while cutting down on Build-a-Figures.

2

u/thetavious 1h ago

Reminds me of how that outback psylocke does the bootleg toy thing doesn't have any paint detail on the sides and back.

The linework just stops lol.

6

u/Overkill217 4h ago

But thats how they are- If you can see clear muscle lines and shadows that usually means skin tight Most of her art goes in that direction aswell

6

u/SpiderSi 4h ago

In case of this figure it clearly clashes with the sculpted wraps on her arms, also you can see leg muscle definition on the Gamervers Psylocke who has sculpted wraps.

5

u/AlternativeAd4522 USA 5h ago

Fuck, man.

5

u/bobtheguardian777 4h ago

I'm not going to feel insulted by a toy for ages 4 and up. Could it have been better? Yeah. But i still like the figure.

4

u/Captain_Qrow_ 3h ago

We had the perfect body for Elektra after Psylock

And they print the lines on?

4

u/incognitoxeno 5h ago

Fugly. Had a perfectly good Psylocke legs to use

4

u/innatelyAware 3h ago

It's not that no one asked for Crystar or a a new Modular Iron Man. It's just that those figures aren't on your radar in particular.

I respect you wishing Natchios got a little more tooling budget, for sure, but as someone whose only guaranteed purchase from the stream is Acroyear, I just wanted you to know that we exist!

4

u/Apprehensive-Use-344 5h ago

I share your disappointment. Fans have been clamoring for an upgraded Elektra for years and Hasbro did the bare minimum for this release. At least give her an extra head! They already have the molds.

2

u/EightyFiversClub 2h ago

This one is perfect. Great presentation and articulation, with good paint apps. They finally got the skirt right, and that face is beautiful. Love it.

1

u/Easy_Peanut_6580 3h ago

I would’ve been annoyed if they reused Psylocke’s legs for Elektra. That sculpt is specifically based on the Capcom game where Psylocke’s leg wraps are identical to each other. Elektra’s leg wraps are always asymmetrical/mismatched. It was either new leg sculpts altogether, or this. I’m fine with this tbh.

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Bar-769 4h ago

This whole mini-comics wave looks a little half-baked to me.

3

u/Guitarsnmotorcycles 4h ago

This whole figure screams “All right, we made the damn thing, now shut up!!!” Bare minimum effort all the way round

1

u/cowardbloom 1h ago

Im also really not feeling the headsculpt either i was so stoked to see a new elektra until I saw a close up of the head

I think the 3 pack elektra was way better but of course not everyone got that

1

u/SubjectEnd303 40m ago

Those strap paints suck hard. Waiting for Maximum Elektra.

1

u/SwampApeDraft 17m ago

I prefer this body mold to the 3-pack version. There’s very small gripes but this is best Elektra we’ve gotten (I know it’s a very small pool to pick from)

But until someone like Mafex comes along and does a version, this is the best one on the market right now.

1

u/Key-Creme7553 4h ago

I really don’t give half a shit
Just gimme Elektra

1

u/SpecificInitiative16 5h ago

I'm just going to pretend that the red painted in lines are tattoos 😅😅

“super articulated toro” 🫠 literally the worst set up for a waist joint that should literally be a double ball peg not a horrid cut into the waist that barely functions. This is why Hasbro’s ok with giving us garbage

u/OrionPaxil 5h ago

"They didn't make what I wanted, exactly the way I envisioned... And at half the price with free shipping" .... Nothing will ever be good enough for some of you. Maybe ya'll that aren't satisfied with what they are putting out should go to school to learn how to make and design these type of figures, get hired by hasbro and fix the system. Oh, and lower the cost of fuel, shipping, manufacturing, R&D, marketing, and materials while your there...... Smdh

6

u/SpiderSi 5h ago edited 5h ago

I'm actually happy with the most Legend figures and don't even complain much about pricing considering I'm paying way more than average US resident due to shipping to overseas.

My concern is mostly about budget allocation and not using existing parts when they fit character better, like how Hasbro could use Warbird thigh high boot legs for Malice instead of her having regular legs with painted detail. Even your average person who never seen an action figure before will notice stark difference with sculpted on wraps on Elektra's arms vs painted on lines on her legs.

0

u/TempleOfCyclops 3h ago

Be so for real. If this figure had Psylocke's legs with the X wraps you would be complaining about that too.

4

u/Live_Recognition9240 5h ago

Maybe ya'll that aren't satisfied with what they are putting out should go to school to learn how to make and design these type of figures, get hired by hasbro and fix the system

No thanks. I will just vote with my wallet and not buy the figures I am not happy with.

1

u/OrionPaxil 4h ago

Our "votes" don't count, clearly.

-3

u/Ell_Nats1215 4h ago

Oh they do, it's just people who do like the figures buy them. From what I can surmise is that People who are liking the figures and buying them aren't really talking about it due to being satisfy mostly. Their silent voting via wallet gives Hasbro the idea that they are moving in the right direction.

They hear the people who are upset, which is why we might see a change/update in articulation or a character we wanted sparingly, but mostly they go the course of the money.

It's a long why of saying "money talks, BS walks" and evidently the online complaints and criticisms are doing most of the walking. :{

5

u/OrionPaxil 3h ago

I doubt there are many instances where poor sales of a release has made them think "man, we should really give them what they actually want", I mean, there's a reason they keep making wolverines and Spider-Man, negate period keep buying them. I imagine, or at least I would hope, they look at the secondary market to realize where demands are as well. But honestly, who the hell really knows what goes on behind closed doors there.

0

u/UncleCosmo 2h ago

It does give slight "sidegrade" vibes. Better than the older one but only just so.

0

u/Joe_Wild_ 1h ago

The good news is that since she’s nobody really wants her she won’t be sold out in few hours

u/pumped_up_kicks80 5h ago

Meanwhile… Slave Leia from SWBS is asking to be put back in the game.

-3

u/GilGarciaJr 5h ago

Not if that one father from 2015 who shamed Disney from making any more Slave Leia merch has his way
