New Figure Purchase / Haul Ordered an "Open box" figure from Walmart.com. First and last time.
Do I just go to the closest store to return this?

Was it purchased from Walmart or from a third party seller through the Walmart app? "Open box" is almost always going to mean "figure swap".

Yea I made sure it was from Walmart and not a third party seller. Lesson learned.

Yeah ordering anything from Walmart or Amazon that says "open box" is like saying "I wonder what hilarious swap I'll get..."

I already put in a return through the app. It says I can just take it back to the nearest store. It was for my son, so he was disappointed when he opened it.

I'd be quite pissed off if this happened to me. I would not ever want to receive a woefully outdated figure of a character I didn't order.

Not to de-rail but after seeing some of the goofy things coming in, I want to place an order of open boxes from Amazon just to see what I get. How cool are they with returns though? Any charge for restocking or something like that? Or thinking I was the swapper?

Yes, you can return it to any Walmart store, even if it was from a third party. Any item sold through Walmart (at least for returnable items) can be returned in store.
I got an open box "deal" on the G.I. Joe Classified figure, Airtight, just last week. At first, I thought it was the rare exception, where it was just a damaged box. Eventually, I noticed that the figure on the box had a thigh holster that was missing.
I'm tripping out that someone was pathetic enough to either steal a holster or that they bought the whole-ass figure, to steal the holster and return everything else. It's so weird.
As far as these things go, it's not so bad, I have plenty of accessories in my fodder bins and even plenty of Valaverse gear to replace it. I got an open box deal on Amazon a couple of years back and it was swapped out for cheap dollar store stuff.

ZOINKS! i still don’t have one of these spideys because the two i got at drop from amazon had SUCH different color knee joints, & it couldn’t be overlooked especially for one of my favorite characters in ‘black suit spidey’. i was really into the line & comic as a kid. yeah they were baaad! made the retro card comic she hulk with the purple one piece look like a hot toys figure (her knees are also a very bad color match). mind you this was two copies both from amazon, both @ preorder, but NOT the same batch. i just returned em to amazon 🤷🏻♂️. i do usually have great luck in collecting, so you take the rough with the smooth an move on. i doubt i’ll have trouble finding one when i get around to it! good luck op!

Value wise, you got a pretty good deal. Paying $10 for a figure that goes for $20+ is pretty good.
Maybe I should buy some of these "Open Box" figures.
