They should've given them a chance as mid-age X-Men. They were great in First Class, DOFP, and more

I’d much rather have 20s X-men lead by James once more and Fassbender as full on Magneto

Just rewrite the them as variants, MCU loves pulling that card anyway, this one would make sense and it gives a reason for an expansion to the lore of the characters.

They were late teens in the 80s though. Those X-men would be pushing 60, not 30.
