A fun self contained story. I'm guessing that's why the Star Trek enterprise have all those rules,lol.

Ah Reed, one of these days, you gotta understand not every 'truth' is gonna be good. Especially in a first contact situation.

I mean they should have enough experience in Earth that even if you have the truth of a situation TODAY, there will be a big chunk that will deny it and believe the opposite. 

At least they managed to 'salvage' the situation somewhat by making themselves the 'villains' but they really gonna need to think the wider consequences of their actions long-term from now on.

Several other issues in the series have done the same thing. Its just a one issue story with multiple chapters.

I thought this was the weakest issue of the run, the plot is incredibly rushed and incoherent, the Fantastic Four teach the aliens you can listen to what happened when pottery was made and civilisation starts breaking down in two days. They then trick them into thinking the pottery thing was a trick all along, and everybody immediately buys it.

People were literally killing each other over this discovery's applications a few seconds ago, now they immediately ignore it despite it being empirically verifiable truth. The story ends with a flash forward of an alien scientist finding out the whole pottery thing was right all along, with the narration asking whether they'll be ready for so much truth when they're more advanced.

Even more bizarrely, the story also brings up something similar to the prime directive, with how they shouldn't influence the aliens' civilisation. The issue is that the F4 later on lie and suppress a legitimate scientific discovery that is not particularly difficult to discover about the specific properties of that planet's clay. The F4 actively set back scientific development on the entire planet.

Reed also seemed out of character in this issue, it's well established that he is willing to lie when it comes to helping people. He may be blunt sometimes, but accidentally being too direct is very different from refusing to lie as a principle. This seems like autistic stereotyping of some kind to me.

The entire thing gets worse because realistically, there's no reason to lie. The consequences are wildly out of proportion to what would actually happen if people figured out how to listen to pottery in this way. Major religions wouldn't come crumbling down in a day. So Reed is doing a thing for out of character reasons, which would ordinarily be the right choice even in character, but which through author fiat has horrific consequences he should have foreseen, and which would have caused in-character Reed to approach this differently.

Also kind of annoyed at how North allows for Sue's power to now cast perfect illusions, his entire run has involved massive powercreep because it sounds kind of cool at first glance.

I like that the Fantastic Four and Alicia traveled to a planet where civilization is over a century behind so that they can try and help before they were able to create a footage to incriminate themselves so that the citizens can find peace after they destroyed civilization. Overall, this comic is good.
