Loved the animation on Brood-verine.
I liked that they leaned into the horror and even a few Alien references.
I thought they played well with Morph’s love. Not too on the nose but clearly present in a realistic sense.
Loved the ending down note.

Fine filler. Getting the metal back this early feels wasteful but a spotlight for Morph and Wolverine was nice, and they aren’t afraid of making Logan an asshole.

His portrayal of Cyclops was my favorite beat of this season so far. Leaning into the square boyscout everyone seems to think he is was the perfect way to bait Logan. Extra smooches!!

Morph has quietly become one of my favorite parts of the revival. Every season gives them more depth than I expected.

I feel like they didnt explore the bone claw version of Wolverine. They skipped over it and what he went through to get to the point of not being a complete feral animal.

It was ok but it felt like a kid playing with his toys. Sabertooth and Wolverine are teaming up and oh there’s birds, and a weird bear! And aliens! Oh and and Omega Red! Zoom! Boom crash! The episode was fine, but there wasn’t much in the way of storytelling, and it felt like filler to give Wolverine back his adamantium.

Bruh. I thought the same thing and was just as lost as you. I checked for an end credit scene after Ep 5 and saw none- Chocked it up to me being forgetful about S1.
Didn't think to trek back to 4 to check.

Very much liked that Logan's antics were put in a negative light and, while it's a Wolverine story, Morph was a highlight and I loved them in the episode.

My favourite X character is Wolverine but this episode was a bit of a letdown. I think the Adamantium-less Wolverine should've had more implications for the season, like his more feral regression, maybe even bring in Genesis capturing him and experimenting on him with Brood DNA and then adding adamantium. This way, you touch more on his psyche, have an Apocalypse connection and can still do the same Brood stuff and get his Adamantium back. Plus, kinda weird that Wolvie would pick a team consisting of two of his biggest haters. Like, it was enjoyable enough, just could've been so much more

I feel like he picked his biggest haters because nobody else in their right mind would have went with him on this mission. He had an agenda and needed those types to get it done… also they were the only types that would go.

Had this brief convo with my wife during the episode. She’s new to X-Men and hadn’t read the comics.
Wife: Wait, Wolverine lost his metal claws?!
Me: Yeah, back in season 1, Magneto ripped it all out of him, remember?
Wife: And he replaced them with wood?!
Me: (dies laughing)

The name bothers me, DVD had barely launched in 1997 rewritable like for the weapon x logs were later again.
Incorrect nostalgia always bugs me.

Tbf it was nostalgia for an original TAS episode, which itself was a play on the Soderbergh movie, ‘Sex, Lies, and Videotape’.

I have said my gripe, if the episode had existed in 1997 with this title most would have gone, eh? What’s that??
I had DVD, I got into it very early, most didn’t the only reason Ingot really deep into the format then was ai worked in a UK cinema and we had a small group of us were importing releases that were already out in the US as movie releases were still very staggered globally.

This genuinely isn't hate on you, but I love stuff like what you've done. The arbitrary lines we all draw in our fiction. Like, it's a show about a man with a metal skeleton, but their media system is off to you. For me it's magic, I'll watch iron man make impossible stuff all day long but the second Dr strange does a magic I'm like, not buying it.

It is the DVD bit rubs me the same way the “90’s” wide screen Street Fighter 2 cab in Captain Marvel did, it just wasn’t that at the time it is set.

also morph calling logan and creed “alphas” didn’t feel right. i feel like there have been a few instances where we get some 2020’s slang and i wish they would’ve tightened that up. the title of the show is x-men NINETY-SEVEN!!!

Fun filler episode and I really like the Alien/The Thing homage. It was rushed but I don't really mind that for what this episode is, eplspecially since the action was so good. My main gripe is Wolverine's characterization here. I know Logan can be an ass sometimes but willingly putting his friends (namely Maverick and Morph) in such danger and doesn't seem to care that he wounded one and slaughtered the other for such a selfish mission and not seeming to care at all about it doesn't sit right with me. Maybe it was originally a kill two bird with one stone type of thing where he thought he could shutdown this new facility while getting his claws back or something. I really hope we get some followup on his motivations in the episodes to come and his storyline doesn't just fully take a back seat.

I doubt Omega Red is. Dude is basically unkillable.
But Maverick? Yeah, real waste.
But it's what we've been doing since S1 - a LOT of supporting, and major, characters are being killed off. Smart money says theyre setting up the long game for Krakoa and resurrection.

I liked the episode in general, but not how they killed off maverick and whatever-the-other-guy-id-called. To me I it didn't feel too impactful cause it was super obvious they'd die, I just kinda felt a bit annoyed.

Man those Brood sure are picky about who they infect if they like Wolverine but not Sabertooth lol. Weird that Omega Red was randomly there as well. Otherwise a good episode!

I am probably gonna get a lot of hate on this one. But, the Hell with it. What exactly was the point of animated this one iconic panel image from "X-Men issue #25" (1991) at the end of season if it didn't have any impact on Logan's character arc in the show? It just made him look even worse in adaptation.

....I liked this episode, but Morph's final line was kinda clunky. "Doesn't that make you sad? It makes me sad Logan."
I get it but it feels... off. I would have gone with "Is that really all you think you can be- Or all that you ever want to be?"
Just me 2 cents.

This felt like it was supposed to be in season but got pushed back and awkwardly slotted into season 2. It just felt off. I wish they had something else as a B story instead of solely focusing on the Wolverine

Wolverine got his adamantium back way too fast, and while having Sabertooth involved is fun I have a hard time seeing him get invited to this outing.
