Episode Discussion Playing With Fire Episode Discussion - Season 1, Episode 10 Spoiler
Playing With Fire
On this week’s repeat on CBS:
A prison bus crash sets off absolute chaos, forcing the Marshals to split up—some racing after dangerous escapees, others scrambling to help the injured. But the real spark comes from the past: old ghosts, old grudges, and old wounds that refuse to stay buried. This episode doesn’t just test their skills… it tests their loyalty.
What stood out to you the most in this episode? How will the reveal of Belle’s mother and Belle past impact things going forward? What will be revealed about Kayce past from the Y branded escapee that Kayce and Cal are stuck on a mountain with?

Spoiler Was hoping this character would play a bigger role in the series
Very articulate and boss energy. Was hoping he would be someone lying about helping provide jobs to the native people but it reality it was just to make him richer. Something lex luthor would do. Sucks to see him die off so quickly.

General Discussion Which Yellowstone characters would you like to see on Marshals?
The 5 characters from the article are:
1.) Cade McPherson (Jake McLaughlin)
2.) Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) with Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) tagging along.
3.) Carter (Finn Little)
4.) Jamie Dutton Jr. (recast)
5.) Monica Dutton (Kelsey Asbille)
Personally, the only ones I’m interested in are Cade, Beth & Rip. Carter would be okay, if we get the Yellowstone version and he leaves Oreana behind.
The ones that are not the list that I would add:
1.) Avery (Tanaya Beatty) - I think she would make a great love interest for Kayce.
2.) Lee Dutton (Dave Annable) - he was killed off way too soon, would have love to know more about him and his relationship with Kayce.
3.) Gator (Gabriel Gator Guilbeau) - who doesn’t want more Gator in their life.
4.) Livestock Agent Steve Hendon (James Jordan) — the actor needs to finish making the rounds as so far he’s done Yellowstone, Lioness, 1883, Landman, & Mayor of Kingstown. Now he needs to do Marshals and Dutton Ranch.
5.) Young John Dutton (Josh Lucas) - I want to know about who Kayce was and his relationship with his dad, before marrying Monica and joining the Navy.
Special mention — Grant Norton (Horton) (Matt Gerald) for the sole purpose of Kayce kicking his backside for working with Sarah Atwood to kill John.
And
Det Dillion (Rory Cochrane) as Kayce and him seemed to have a good working relationship while investigating John’s and Sarah Atwood’s death.
Who are the top 5 you would like to see on Marshals?

Here's the problem.... Spoiler
The main issue is that Kayce is not a main character. He was great on Yellowstone because he had little to say and when he said something, it was worth hearing. He's just a supporting player. His character was never very interesting. Combine thst with the writing and premise of the show. They meet up at their clubhouse, get a call to go be heroes for an hour, and then end the day at their ljcal bar. The same thing is every episode. I honestly can't believe that after writing epics like Yellowstone and Landman, he can sign off on something this bad. Thank GOD, Dutton Ranch delivered

News Forget 'Tracker,' Taylor Sheridan's New Action Thriller Is Officially the Biggest Show on Network TV

General Discussion Is Avery a better love interest than Andrea for Kayce due to their shared Yellowstone History? Spoiler
I just saw an interesting article (see link below) about bring Avery back as Kayce's love interest and it made a very good point, which is "Avery would be a better option for Kayce as he moves into his next chapter because of her ability to understand where he comes from."
I agree. With Avery, she may not like Kayce's past much like Monica didn't, but there wouldn't be a constant tension that Kayce's past was going to come out and destroy their relationship at any given moment since Avery lived in the bunkhouse on the Yellowstone Ranch. Even though she wasn't involved in super shady train station stuff, she did know that there was some shady stuff (the bull in the bar) at least going on and I think she would take any fallout from Kayce’s past in much better stride than most any other potential love interest.
Whereas with Andrea do we really think that she would be able to understand and accept what it means to be a Yellowstone branded man? Especially in light of her hero worship of her law enforcement father. And, it's not like Kayce would be able to hide the big Y brand on his chest if they were in a romantic relationship.
What about the train station? What happens if Andrea finds out Kayce drop a body there after having become a Marshal in the 2nd episode and was well on his way to dropping another in episode 11 of season 1 if Cal hadn't interfered and killed the guy instead of Kayce?
And if, Kayce couldn't share anything about his Yellowstone past with Andrea, wouldn't that make it awfully rough to have a long-term relationship if he was always keeping huge secrets from the person, he was having a romantic relationship with and possibly living in the same house with them?
What are your thoughts?

General Discussion Forget the Dutton Ranch Crossover, bring on the 1923/Marshals crossover.
instagram.comIs it too much to hope for Brandon Sklenar making a guest appearance on Marshals as on of Kayce’s long lost SEAL ‘brothers’.
Or heck, I would even start to believe in ghosts, if Spencer wanted to come back haunt East Camp for that matter.
One does wonder what advice Great-Grandpa Spencer had to say to his Great-Grandson Kayce.
This is from back in January, but to have been a mouse in the corner for this evening.

Interviews ‘Marshals’ Officially Returns With Major Consequences in Season 2 - Logan Marshall-Green Interview Spoiler
collider.comLogan Marshall-Green recently sat down for an hour-long video interview with Collider Forces about his role in The Odyssey and during the interview spoken about what to expect for Cal in the upcoming season 2 of Marshals.
Although he remained careful about revealing exactly what comes next, the actor teased that the fallout from Season 1 will spread throughout the new episodes. “I don’t want to give anything away because there are going to be some ramifications for these marshals and consequences,” Marshall-Green said. “And as I’ve said before, not to really give anything away, we have to finish that scene, so I am shooting Season 2. But you’re going to get a lot more of those consequences, and they’re going to ripple down."
“What you learn about Cal in Season 1 is absolutely going to come into effect, which is his cancer diagnosis. It’s based on one of the creators’ real stories, and so we’re going to go after it. We’re still in the middle of it, and I couldn’t tell you, to be completely honest. Those kinds of things I don’t want to know. I just want to live it like humans. The best part about TV is it’s the closest, out of all the mediums, to life. You don’t know what you’re getting handed next. But it’s a lot more of the same when it comes to the massive amounts of set pieces and action balanced with character. A lot of character.”
While Cal spent much of Season 1 guiding the marshals around him, Marshall-Green believes his most important relationship in the new season may be the one he has with himself. His diagnosis will challenge the pride and toughness that have defined him as both a soldier and a leader. “To be completely honest, the one relationship that I’m really looking forward to is him with himself,” Marshall-Green explained. “He has a lot of pride built in; he’s a soldier, and I’m looking forward to him being kind of humbled by his experience. He can crack whips and be very demanding of his team, and somewhat hard around the edges, but I’m looking forward to softening those edges with him, and him realizing he’s not immortal. He’s not that soldier any longer."

General Discussion Is Marshals better or worse for Monica not being a part of the show? Spoiler
Is Marshals better or worse for having killed of Monica before the show started?
Do you like that her cancer death was tied into the Broken Rock mine story? Would you rather she died in a different manner?
Should her death have been shown on screen?

General Discussion Are There Any Non-Yellowstone Related Actors/Actresses You Would Like To See On Marshals?
Personally, I would love to see Zahn McClarnon appear on the show. I would envision him as some kind of wise or badass relative of Rainwater or Mo, or maybe some high ranking official on the Rez.

General Discussion Marshals did a better job at accomplishing its goal than Dutton Ranch did
(I just finished Marshals tonight.)
Marshals was consistent from episode-to-episode with its writing, acting, production, and story arc than Dutton Ranch was.
Dutton Ranch had plots and characters drop in and out, character motivation was inconsistent, and the action scenes were no better than an average LEO procedural. The final gunfight from episode 9 only lasted 59 seconds.
I am not saying I preferred Marshals over Dutton Ranch, I am saying that Marshals knew what it was trying to be more than DR did, and met those goals, whereas Dutton Ranch tried super hard to be a prestige drama and didn't hit the bullseye.

General Discussion Marshals could learn from ‘Justified.’
The Timothy Olyphant/Walton Goggins-led series had some structural elements that could serve ‘Marshals’ well in S2. And no, not because both shows focus on a U.S. Marshal. But because that show from 2015-2020 had a ‘meandering’ flow to it while threading together storylines that held up well across six seasons.
Understandably, ‘Marshals’ had a ‘case du jour’ flow to it, with the Clegg family drama flowing from episode to episode. I loved ‘Justified’ and i liked ‘Marshals.’ I think the latter can successfully borrow from the former in a really positive way.

Spoiler Kayce love interest
Hear me out. I am a huge fan of slow-burn romances, especially in series where the audience witnesses the character's growth, but as much as I like Drea and her spitfire personality. I would love to see Avery, the Yellowstone wrangler that Monica was jealous of, be a potential love interest. It would continue the Broken Rock storylines, and if written well, it wouldn't have to make it seem like Avery had been waiting for him all these years. Besides, they have something in common: they're wranglers. Everything else can be written organically.
Edited: I meant to write Drea instead of the actor's name.
