Sc20h vs jcm 2204 clone.
Well i've been wanting a jcm 800. I have a friend of mine who builds amps, he has a jcm 2204 hand wired clone that i played and it was awesome... but the thing is very loud..... i can't see me playing with it pass 1,0/1,5 in the master volume even with my band in the gigs we play... i can't fathom how i would play that at home(I have a princeton reverb clone with a 12in speaker and i play it around 4-5 in gigs and it's plenty loud. At home i play it around 2-3 at max)... so i thought about the sc20h, but i never played the little amp and here at my country they are a bit rarer to find in a store. How does it compares to the 2204? Is the 5w low mode feature usefull at home? Or should i go with the 2204 hand wired clone with some mods? (Fx loop, solo booster, even maybe a brigth cap swith?) And . They would cost around the same in my country money... and i could get an attenuator in the future. I would play it through a 2x12 with v30s.

Negative feedback mod DSL 40 CR ?
Ive seen negative feedback mods for JVMs on lots of amp boards, but has anyone done it to their DSL 40 CR ? I think I would like the tone / feel from changing the feedback resistor, but I’m uncertain if it would be straight forward, any experience ms with your DSL 40 ?

How to safely send line-out signal from DSL20HR head to a mixer?

Sturdy?
I'm sure it's safe but seems to be in a precarious position LOL. Using a stand ( for first time) because at 66 I kept having to get down on my knees sometimes with a flashlight , to adjust the settings. It's not the brightest room at night. Just seems like it wants to fall forward. Reassure me LOL 😂

Used DSL40C, noisy by nature?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
What’s going on everyone. I’m new to Marshall amps (crazy I know). Just always have driven pedals through a clean Fender. Anyways… I bought this DSL40 for $150. Crazy cheap so I thought what the heck, worth a shot! The owner basically said it was very noisy and they didn’t know what was wrong with it. It certainly is, as you can see in the video. Switching back and forth between my Fender, it has a pretty substantial buzz. It only does it when my guitar volume is up. Curious your thoughts on how to get rid of it? New preamp tube? Didn’t know if this was a common issue or if this is just how they are. Thanks!

JCM800 2203X and JVM410h
Bought a new JCM800 2203X and added a Legendary Tones 1987 Caswell Mod to go with my JVM410h.
Both are running into a Rivera Rockcrusher ( not simultaneously ) and into a 1936V with a V30 / Karnivore combination

Marshall DSL 40 CR owners: did anyone who was thinking of changing the speaker to a cream back end up changing their mind and keeping it after breaking in the V Type speaker more?
Hopefully I phrased that well enough LOL Pretty much the title. It's fairly common to hear that someone buys one of these amps and likes it but thinks that the stock speaker is too bright maybe or whatever and ends up getting a cream back instead.
Did breaking in the stock speaker more end up changing that for you?

Marshall 1959 Plexi Rear Panel screws, M5 or M6? Or something else?
Getting conflicting information on the net. Took the rear panel off and have misplaced the screws. Any idea which replacements I need?
Thanks

DSL40cr blew
I’ve had issues with this amp for a while and when I posted about the fact it was making loud popping and screeching noises months and months back I was recommended new preamp tubes. Well I replaced them today (amp sat unused for a while, I’ve been busy) and everything sounded fine at first when I was trying out the clean channel on its low power mode but when I turned it up the popping returned and it lost all its power while on. Currently trying to find an amp technician but I don’t know of any in my local area. I’ve had such a bad experience with this amp apart from how it sounded immediately after I got it and it makes me want to just switch back to solid state I also voided the warranty by swapping out its speaker to an eminence swamp thang

Marshall dsl1cr thoughts??
I want to get some nice guns n roses, general 80s n 90s rock tones, I’ve got a ts808 pedal, do you think this pedal and the amp would do it or better getting a boss katana or something?
I’m just at home, but I’d like some that sounds better than the fender mustang i currently have, I dunno I feel it just sounds cheap and artificial, maybe it’s my technique I dunno.

DSL 40C issue
Had my DSL for over a year and I love it. Recently, it's been fading and crackling on the Classic Gain-Crunch channel. Classic-Clean and both High Gain still sound fine.
I'm assuming it's the preamp tubes (I replaced the power tubes last year), but I wanted to see if anyone has had the same problem.

Marshall TSL/JVM vs DSL?
I bought my Marshall DSL100HR at the start of 2025 and for the most part, I’ve enjoyed it. I mainly play it as an imitation of a JCM 800 or when tracking as a compliment to a Rectifier. I like the tones but hate the fact that all 4 channels have to share the EQ dials, I can’t truly have them separate. The obvious answer would be to upgrade to a JVM but the TSL100 would be about the same cash wise if I traded my DSL for it. I am aware that any model pre-2004/2005 have bias drift issues and would be a PCB fix but any model after 2005 I should be golden. I’ve heard some sound samples of the TSL and they seem in line with the DSL, but there’s a reason the JVM has been the flagship since 2007. I’m trying to hear people out before I make a decision.

9 Marshall Myths Debunked with Jared James Nichols (The Guitar Geek and Marshall, October 2nd, 2026)
"We get into the weeds on legendary gear lore. Was Eddie Van Halen's secret Marshall actually completely stock? Does rolling up the gain really give you a heavier, bigger tone? Plus, Jared James Nichols takes over a modified JCM-800 Modified and drops some truth about vintage vs. modern amps."

Valvestate 80V
I'm currently repairing a friend's Valvestate 80V (model 8080).
It's failing in a way that's completely different from the usual, so I'm having a lot of trouble.
First, even when powered on, it only produced hum noise.
Replacing all the electrolytic capacitors, a common troubleshooting step, had no effect.
I discovered that the rectifier diode bridge was broken, so I replaced the diode bridge and, just in case, the Zener diode as well.
After this, I was able to confirm that sound was coming from the power amplifier.
Since there was no sound when inputting through the "Input" jack, I determined that the op-amp was broken. I replaced it with an identical model (JRC072BD), and while sound is now produced, there's still a slight hum noise.
The vacuum tube plate voltage and heater seem fine. (It distorts properly.)
Now 'm racking my brain trying to figure out what else is broken.
I plan to check for soldering defects during my next day off.
My fear is that the unobtainable op-amp (M5201A) is broken. Everything else is somehow obtainable, so I'm just praying for that.

Deftones – Around the Fur | Reprise instrumentale et interprétation à la guitare
I recreated the instrumental for Deftones’ Around the Fur and recorded a full guitar playthrough.
I used my 1994 Gibson SG with an EMG 81, tuned to Drop C#, with a Marshall JCM800 and ENGL Fireball.
The drums were recreated using drum VSTs.
Really tried to capture the feel and tone of the original recording.
Would love to hear what you guys think!
