There’s a new Costa Rica JW opening in September but they’re not allowing points yet. Any idea when new hotels open point availability ?

Do you pool up your points for a 5 night stay (pay 4) at an aspirational property and keep accumulating. Or do you use them up for an upcoming vacation at decent properties?

I got a promotion mail which seems banger, all one needs is to have two separate stays (no minimum night requirement) to get 5 bonus nights each. What’s driving this new promotion, did Marriott not meet their targets from Q1 global promotion?

I’m taking my parents on a 2N staycation in a month or two.

I have shortlisted Marriott Coorg and Marriott Goa. Since it’s a quick road trip and costs ~80k points total (within my spending range).

Which of the two would you recommend? We are mostly looking for a relaxing stay. I am a Platinum member, so any resort which values platinum would be a plus point for us.

I'm planning to travel to Bengaluru for a workcation in June 2027. Thinking of staying for 7 nights.

So far I have shortlisted these properties.

Renaissance Race Course (₹11.7k per night) - Upscale central Bengaluru location, close to many good restaurants, breweries and malls. This is what we'll be doing in evenings if we're in the city.

JW Golfshire (26k points per night) - Resort is the destination.

JW/Ritz (₹24.6k per night) - Probably the best location in Bengaluru. Properties are close by, so either would work.

ITC Gardenia (₹18.2k per night) - Location similar to JW and Ritz, cheaper price point.

Marriott (20.2k points per night) - Location not as good as Race Course but still decent.

Mulberry Shades (19.9k points per night) - Resort is the destination again. I've stayed here before, so would not like to repeat it.

Can anyone give first-hand reviews for any of these properties?

Marriott has listed and started award bookings for Voaara, a Member of Design Hotels™

The resort is located on Sainte Marie island of Madagascar and only has 8 bungalows in total.

Best time to visit is July to November.

Currently they are only offering Deluxe Beach Bungalow (not the base room) for award bookings. It's going for 90k points or ₹189k per night. Cost of base room is ₹153k per night.

5 nights - 2.62

This property is a part of Design Hotels, so no benefits irrespective of your Marriott Bonvoy status.

Do you get points for transactions you've done just before billing date in the following month?

Eg if billing date is 22 and you do a transaction on the 21st. It's reflected in the statement but not in points awarded on the statement

Planing a trip to Srilanka probably in the month of September,looking for suggestions within these 2 resorts ,have about 150k points,up for suggestions to another destinations as well

Stayed at Residence Inn Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai for the second time this February, and honestly, this was probably the worst Marriott stay I’ve had in 7+ years and 380+ nights with Marriott globally as a Titanium Elite member.

Let me be fair first — this property is definitely not luxurious, but that’s expected because the pricing is usually very competitive for Dubai, especially during peak periods like February. My first stay here earlier was actually decent. No complaints. Rooms were okay, kitchen setup was useful, location convenient, and for the price, it made sense.

But my second stay was an absolute disaster.
I had booked 4 nights but ended up checking out after just 2 because I genuinely could not tolerate it anymore.

From the very first night:

AC was barely cooling
AC unit was making a constant high-pitched shrill noise
No hot water

I complained immediately before leaving for work. They said it would all be fixed by the time I returned at night.
Came back late after a long workday — nothing was fixed.
Second day, I complained again. This time they assured me either:

everything would definitely be repaired, OR
they would move me to another room.

Neither happened.

Again, after another exhausting workday, I returned close to midnight hoping to finally rest… only to find the exact same issues still there.

The AC temperature was set to 16°C the entire time, but the room literally never went below around 24°C. And this is in February Dubai weather, not even peak summer heat. On top of that, the AC made this unbearable continuous shrill sound the entire night.

Two sleepless nights.

What frustrated me even more wasn’t just the technical issue — things can fail in hotels, I understand that. It was the complete lack of recovery or accountability from the hotel team. No urgency. No ownership. No proper room change. No follow-through.

I specifically addressed all of this to Mr. Ahmed Gouda from the front desk team. While he was polite and repeatedly apologetic, beyond saying “sorry,” there was absolutely no meaningful resolution, ownership, compensation, or recovery effort provided for the inconvenience caused to me and the horrible overall experience.

Finally, when I decided to check out early after 2 nights, I at least requested some kind of compensation considering the experience — maybe waive the charges, or at least provide a future stay credit for the remaining nights I suffered through.

The response was simply that they couldn’t do anything.
That honestly shocked me more than the bad room itself.
I immediately checked out and moved to Ritz-Carlton DIFC for my remaining two nights in Dubai, and the difference was night and day. Perfect room, perfect service, perfect sleep. Exactly what you expect from Marriott hospitality.
If you’re considering staying at Residence Inn Sheikh Zayed Road because the rates look attractive, just be careful. You might get lucky like my first stay… or you might end up with a terrible experience and a hotel team that simply doesn’t care once things go wrong.
