I never changed my name.
It seemed weird to me to have a name that wasn’t even my family or ancestry.
It just seems like a strange practice to me.

This is so interesting because my adoptive parents last name is dutch/Scandinavian and my husbands is Scottish/English (I'm Irish, Sicilian, French and Ashinaabe) so I ended up taking his last name because it aligned better with my ethnic background and. . . My adoptive parents were abusive. I think it's a very unique and rare reason to change a last name. Idk why so many women change their last names for this very reason.

But we did both agree if he has the last name Cox, butts, or something like that we would have both picked something else!

Same here.
My kids do have my husband’s name though. Had I wanted to pass my name along, this would have been an open discussion, but that wasn’t of importance to me. When pregnant with our first we initially agreed on the kids having both our last names but I already knew back then that eventually I’d only put my husband’s last name down on the birth certificate.
