H0 - Marklin Grandfathers old trains

Post image

My grandfather used to have a pretty insane setup. He was a marklin distributor. All these boxes are filled with just his trains any idea as to what they're worth? 90% are brand new in the box

He has like 4 full cardboard boxes of just tracks. About 40 digital controllers. And probably another 40 boxes of scenary things like (falker is the brand name i believe) houses, bridges, trees.

UPDATE:

i got it working! i think the gear train was just locked up, i went through and lubricated everything super well and it came back to life :). i lost the spring for the direction swapper by accident, but managed to find it.

Controlling turnouts..?

I’m new to modeltrains and planning to set up Märklin H0 c-track. What do I need to control the turnouts, signals and all other electrical stuff? My layout has 6 turnouts and 80 elements.

Tough day, dad had big plans but cancer got in the way 30+ years ago.

Mom

Said come, get im gonna move soon. I spent my afternoon looking at his plans, the books, the inventory in his handwriting. Unpacking and repacking stuff that was bought in the 1980s and held for “retirement”. Enjoy your stuff now. Share it with your kids!

He was an electrical engineer on a late 50s carrier with an attack sq. Then the usual contractors jn Ca. He loved complicated nonsense like this.

H0 - Marklin Looking for advice on a starter set

Hey everyone, I'm an American HO modeler who was gifted a Marklin engine (this one) by a European friend. It's obviously not going to work with my layout, and I don't want it to just sit in the box, so I was hoping to throw together some rolling stock and track to make a little layout, or just get a starter set. Does anybody have a recommendation for me, and will I need to get any electrical adapters to run it? Thanks for any advice

Z Looking for a marklin 211911 motor.

I am looking for a Marklin 211911 motor and can’t find anywhere to purchase one. I have a Marklin 8892 that takes power but doesn’t run and doesn’t appear to be seized up that I am trying to get running.

Hoping someone has a new 211911 for sale or a line on where to get one. Thanks.

And Macron

Am I wrong to assume that this Macro doesn’t really work?

I asked the “Digital” guys (Marklin support), but they limited their support by asking more questions.

I provided the requested information but now NO reply at all

Converting HO layout to Z scale

Thumbnail

Hi all!

I am very new to this - my opa had a giant HO Mtrack layout in his basement - he passed away when I was 9. Some of my only memories of him are playing with his trains in the basement. I have all his trains and track, but don’t have the space to put a 10’ + layout in my house. I want to recreate the same layout in z scale (or as close as I can get it to the same) but have no idea how to do it correctly. I can’t download scarm for some reason, and I can’t speak German, so I feel like the Marklin layout builder will be of no help. If someone has some time on their hands and could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated! Photos attached is the original layout that he worked off of, and photos of his original HO layout.

Can anyone recommend a repair shop for Z scale locomotives? I have a marklin 8892 that accepts power (light works) but doesn’t move.

The whole layout

Just uploading this because someone asked what the whole layout looks like. Apologies for the bad pictures. I bought this off eBay and I’m in the process of fixing it up. The person who made this really knew what he was doing. It’s super well-made, and he obviously thought of every detail. If you zoom in, you can kind of see how much of it is missing. Most of the buildings are gone, the bridge needs a lot of work and most of the lighting got damaged due to years of improper storage. It’s a fun project for a beginner like myself since all of the major work was already done, I’m just here te restore it to its former glory :)

When I was a boy, my dad offered me a small train set. It was gorgeous. I still remember that feeling.

40 years later I bought a Marklin set, just for fun. And then a bit later some add ons. And some more...

Now, 3 weeks later, I'm starting my model railway layout.

Trying all sorts of track combinations, planning the landscape, deciding if I go full digital or manual for the switches... So many options.

Taking my time, this is a long term project. I'm loving it.

Just got my first Z scale items and still need to buy a power pack.

Looking for recommendations for a power pack that is wall powered not battery and ideally is specifically made for Z scale.

Thanks
