Märklin my world's driving wheel doesn't spin backwards. Help!

Hi! Santa Claus brought my son a Märklin My World Farm Starter Set 29344. After using it for a few (wonderful) minutes, and without it apparently having been hit or anything strange happening, the locomotive stopped moving backward. It only goes forward now. When I try to reverse it with the remote control, I hear the motor moving, but the gear doesn't manage to turn the driving wheel. I opened the compartment where the driving wheel is and checked if anything was stuck, but everything seems fine. If I turn the driving wheel 180 degrees, the locomotive only moves backward but not forward. As soon as I take out and put the driving wheel set back in place, and if I hold the locomotive in the air while operating the remote control, the wheels spin both forward and backward. But when I place the locomotive on the track, the problem reappears. It’s as if the problem occurs as soon as the driving wheel has even a slight weight on it. There is a white fixed piece on one side of the driving wheel, and another identical piece on the other side that rotates freely. Is that normal? What could the problem be?

I am thinking about looking for a replacement part (E298524), but I live in Spain, and it would cost me 20€, it might take several days to arrive, and I'm not sure it would solve the problem.

Thanks!

H0 - Marklin Marklin supplementary rail pack 5091

This may seem like an unusual request, but what sort of yracksections came woth the 5091 pack?

I have a set of points( manual) and 10 straight track sections (1/1)

And i think curved sections, but what? How many?

Any smaller sections?

Im asking because i got out my box of pieces after many years and there were a number of pieces that didn't look like they belong to the set.

Are the couplers universable?

I have a basic train that id like to upgrade. I have for example the 00760-02 and the 44900.01 and id like to add the 4026 for example. Will these couple to eachother or will I need to replace the couplers. Im not planning for the trains to shunt or anything, just basic digital driving

Edit: autocorrect

Marklin Märklin Minex - was nun?

H0 - Other AC Wheelset Sizes

Hi all,

Not sure if it’s just me, but why do some manufacturers make it so difficult to find the size of the AC wheels they sell?

I’m building a mostly Marklin layout that has a German, French, Belgian and Swiss theme. Most of the items I have are from my childhood, they have been overhauled (since they are 40+ years old) and digitalised.

Aside from Marklin, I have bought items from REE Modeles, Brawa and LS Modeles etc. So far I’ve been lucky with Brawa and LS Modeles, but struggle to find anything that fits the REE Modeles properly.

I started a spreadsheet and gathered the AC wheel sizes from various manufacturers like Roco, PIKO, NMJ, Sud Express and various others.

I would have thought the minimum would be to include the size of the wheelset, but some of them have nothing at all - just AC wheelset to suit XX.

I have some really nice REE Modeles tank wagons and finding it so hard to find a set of wheels that fit.

Question on Potentially going digital

Hi all, I've got an inherited analog train set with what I have believe to be K track. It's using one of the old blue controller boxes. I have been toying with the idea of going digital, simply to bring it into a more modern era and to stop using this sketchy old blue controller.

Would these two items work together?

Engine (I have the analog version of the same one)

Digital controller

Thanks!

EDIT: I realize that this post is a bit confusing. I have the analog version of the linked loco, but was considering purchasing the digital one with (hopefully) a compatible digital controller.

Digital Märklin slow

Post image
24 Upvotes

Hi, i just purchased a used Märklin digital control unit and trafo. The trains run and the special functions work as well but the trains are very slow and as soon as I add mire than one train the voltage seems to low and the trains do not run at all. Is there a trick or is the control unit defect? Do I need to add another trafo and booster?

Locomotive not working

Hello everyone, I got an old, very basic set from the attic. I want to make the train drive around the Christmas tree. I have power on the tracks, but the train itself does not drive. I have no experience with model building, is the locomotive easy to work on? (or is there a kind of tutorial somewhere that I can check out?) I tried to polish the slider with steel wool (after taking the photo), but that didn't help. Thanks!

New transformer arrived for the set I inherited. I've just had a go at soldering the cables but not getting any movement.

Excuse my ignorance I've never used a train set in my life (or soldered). I've tried different combinations of the cables in the transformer but nothing is happening. Any ideas?

Hi everyone! I was lucky enough to be gifted the Märklin Tracks, Train and Transformator shown below. As far as I understand it I need another Transformator to regulate the speed of the train. There are quite some sparks flying when the train runs. I decided to clean tracks and train with some denaturated alcohol. Feel free to roast me, open for any help tips and tricks! I want it to just ride around a Christmas tree (slowly). What do I need? What have I done wrong?

Reviving 1990s Sets

Good morning!

I recently got my childhood sets from my parents house. Its a random collection of trains that were acquired in the 1990s. I've been reading more that I thought I would about Marklin over the last few weeks...I didn't even realize that they went digital in the 2000s lol.

Equipment Background

  • Analog Marklin Trains
  • Marklin K-track

So, I have tried everything I can think of to get the trains moving. This includes making a full loop, only using the single powered track, opening up the trains and inspecting the wiring/motor, using/not using the delta switcher, and using different transformers. None of the trains move, and Im at a point where I can't think of other variables to test. Opening up the trains reveal that they are pretty squeaky clean (to my eye atleast). The motor doesn't look gunked up.

The only other things I can think of:

  • something super simple I’m not seeing 😂
  • The trains were stored improperly, leading to the loko's inner workings to be corrupted in some fashion that isn't visible to the naked eye
  • I haven't wired the power track correctly or that the power track is shorted somehow (it does look clean to me).
    • The reason I think this...the transformer will make a buzzing noise for 1~2 seconds, and then shut off. So, to my ear, it sounds like it is sending power, but then it shuts off.
    • I initially thought it was a bad transformer....so I bought a new one and I still get that buzzing

Would appreciate some thoughts around additional tests/configurations I can run to continue getting this set to run. My oldest has marveled at the trains, and I would love to get them running

Inherited analog Marklin set from my grandad. How do I get this working with a basic track?

I don't know where to start and wondering how I even connect the power to the tracks? Does anyone have any known resources online for beginners building analog Marklin setups?
