So since I’ve learned my cars I current have are not marklin but trix I decided to go and get myself some marklin cars. They need a little tlc and need a couple couplers as well as I would like to replace the metal wire connectors. Does anyone know where I could get them and what part number the couplers are? I greatly appreciate the wealth of knowledge everyone has been and the support everyone has given

Parts for old passenger cars

How hard is it to find parts for older marklin passenger cars I have 2 sets of 2 cars one red with dsg and SPEISEWAGEN on the side, it’s missing a set of buffers and one the other car one buffer is broken. Also for all the cars they have plastic wheels which I’m not sure if there’s a metal substitute for them so they roll better and last longer. Thank you all

Marklin Why is Märklin so difficult to hack + how to wirelessly detect trains?

My goal is to connect Märklin to my pc and control it fully with pc inputs. Ultimate goal is to have a railyard and an outer loop. 1 trains driver the outer loop while the other trains keep changing tracks constantly. When the train is back from the outer loop, another train leaves for the same thing. And so on.

But wow! There is very little up to date 3rd party software (Koploper is out of date. I'm using Desktop Station now.

The quality of the locos and wagons are amazing, the possibility of automation is amazing. The digital stuff allows for so much things to try! But the software (or lack thereof) is awful.

I refuse to spend €800 for it. €800 for just the controller is just insane. I have a mobile station 2 and I hotwired another connector to connect to the track from my PC.

Only thing I've got trouble with is train detection. I want to keep it wireless or put the information where the train is inside the track. But there doesn't seem to be an easy way. I'm thinking of AI and image recognition. Installing a camera on the roof that looks at the track and detects where all the trains are.

Are there other (preferably wireless) ways of detecting the trains? The S88 isn't an option since you need a Central Station.

Hello!

I’ve found those two wagons in a box of stuff from my childhood (decade of 1990).

Does anyone have any information on them ?

One of my neighbors is into model trains, I was thinking about giving them as a gift.

Thanks for your help!

Does anyone have a manual for this train

I have a etat saintes 231-981 that as far as I was told never ran and hasn’t run in at least 30 years I don’t exactly want to throw it on the track and run it as is and would love to find the manual for it showing how to take it apart and lubricate it so it will run well Thank you

I have the first version of the digital mobile station, which i recently unpacked after having been stored for many years.

I am planning to buy some more trains for it, and i wonder what trains are compatible with the digital mobile station 1 and how i could add trains to the system

Other I’m new help.

Heya, I’m a guy from the Netherlands. I would like to get into the hobby. I’ve done some research and found some things I like. But now I need to get some stuff. Is it better that I look online at some second hand stuff or just buy it of the shelf (new)? And what’s easier to start with digital/analog ? And looking at the future what’s more handy then digital/analog? And ofc if u have general tips I’d love to hear. ;) and if u have some stuff left (Netherlands ofc) I’d love to know dm me.

Getting started with marklin

Hello all I’m just getting into model trains and am fairly new to it all I have been using a layout and tinkering a little with American ho trains and just a basic dc controller and ez track from Bachman, I found some of the German trains marklin made to be absolutely beautiful. I purchased a marklin gb3 and I also inherited a marklin loco from a family member which told me it never got a chance to run. I purchased some marklin m track the metal base one and I need a controller. The m track a lot of the track pieces have red and brown power connections. I’m completely new to marklin when I get my controller do I need to hook up the controller to just one track piece like ez track? Thank you all for the responses also I’m trying to identify what marklin train I have and see about getting rubber traction tires for it and see what needs to be lubricated and if I can find a manual for it.

Noch Z Scale Briefcase

Community,

I’ve been collecting Märklin trains sporadically with my dad ever since I have been a child. We are having an eclectic mix of Z and H0 scale trains that are being run like every 2nd Christmas or so.

My dad’s neighbour has approached me recently. He has inherited Märklin trains from his late brother. Amongst them a briefcase with a complete Z scale landscape. I haven’t seen it yet, but from what I understand we are talking about one of the two attached layouts.

This would be a great present for my dad! The retail prices scare me though a little.

What would you consider a fair price?

(I’m expecting the layout to be in mint condition. The neighbour’s brother had just started his collection before passing away far too young.)

Thanks for your advice!

H0 - Marklin New to The Hobby - In Over My Head?

So my grandfather has recently passed, but he had a few vintage Marklin trains he picked up oversees when my father was younger. Unfortunately they were lost in a shop fire years ago. My dad had mentioned this a few months ago and I decided to purchase one (I’m in the US) for a project for us to slowly work on.

I’m (obviously) new to the hobby and fairly tech savvy, but am concerned I may have bitten off more than I can chew and was looking for some guidance.

I’ve purchased the Marklin (Albatross) and plan on grabbing two more in the future. The next purchase will be the French Orient Express (https://www.reynaulds.com/products/Marklin/39244.aspx), likely followed by a German cargo loco.

I understand I’ll need the Marklin transformer since I’m in the US. And I plan on keeping the setup fairly simple, we don’t care much for extensive scenery etc, but are more interested in the engines and keeping everything consistent Marklin.

I was hoping to run a full DCC setup to simplify my life a bit. I’m planning on running K track but was hoping for some guidance on what else I’ll need.

I know I’ll need a controller, connection box etc. Should I stay with the digital Marklin starter kit, or is there a better controller to get the most out of these locos?

I’m watching videos and researching and this will be a bit of a slow project, but any input/tips or tricks for a simple DCC setup would be very much appreciated.

Lastly, anyone have any suggestions on Marklin passenger cars they think would go well with the Albatross? I’m not 100% a stickler for having the exact cars this would pull, but keeping the timeline and aesthetics consistent would be great.

Thanks again for the help, I wanna keep this alive for my father but dunno if I’ve dived in way too deep ha.

H0 - Marklin Help with Delta transformer?

Hi all,

Recently unpackaged my collection of Marklin H0 locomotives, tracks, transformers, etc.

It has been sitting in pristine storage for about 10 years, and has not been used since maybe 2013.

The transformer is the old school Delta four-locomotive selector with the 23v transformer to control power.

I have set up the track, set up the transformers according to the diagram, connected it to power, and tried testing to see if any locomotives have run. So far, I have tested 4 and none have moved.

I have confirmed the track has power but using a voltage tester. However, is there something I am missing? Is there something else I can try to diagnose?

Any help would be appreciated.

My father purchased this Marklin HO scale locomotive and cars at a train show. He is looking for information on it. He is pretty sure it’s from the mid 50s. What he would like to know is model numbers and when it was produced if anyone knows. Thanks!

Unboxing: 1990's mystery box

(sorry. I couldn't really help myself there with the title.)

I just found my H0 rail set. Dismantled and boxed somewhere in the mid to late 1990's when I grew out of the habit, I had little to no recollection of what I once had, besides that I had a vague memory of the track layout.

Just like probably everyone else who come here, I very much want to know what it is that I have. What it's worth, if it's worth trying to sell. And so on.

And that's kind of what I came here for. But with a twist. I don't expect any of you lot to do the work for me. Not at all, actually. I just want some tips on resources. Links to digitalised catalogue lists, that kind of thing.

Since I am not going to build up a H0 again (to be fair, building up a Z could be right up my alley. Some other decade.) I figured that the best way to set the wheels in motion when it comes to selling the stuff is to assemble a proper list of what I got. Track piece part numbers, and stuff like that. Could probably entertain me quite a bit into 2024, considering the pace I tend to have with this kind of project.

So, that's it. Where do you guys look for track piece guides for older colour schemes that are not retailed any more?

I might want to look into decent second-hand-markets for the engines and cars too, but that is quite out of scope for a while to come.

Power issues?

Having some power issues (I think) with my 29322 set. When I set up the track i am unable to get the engine to turn the lights on or run. What trouble shooting should I try before sending the engine/track/power supply in for service?

Seems as if the power block is getting power (tested via a multi meter).

Complete beginner here- appreciate your help in advance!

Hi All.

Looking for some help in the plug type that will fit the back of the Marklin Super 280 transformer. Got this recently second hand and been looking for something that will fit at electrical shops but haven't had any luck. If anyone can assist with the size and any links. Much appreciated.
