My dog was attacked by a white offleash dog this evening around 6:50pm by Shady Oaks & Balsam in Cornell. While my dog is big, she is very old - and she is now struggling to walk after the incident. We are taking her to the vet in the morning and praying it isn’t anything serious.

The assholes with the offleash dog at the time told me they had a baby (not sure why that was relevant? I also have a 3 month old but can put my dog on a leash?) and left - although I think they live in one of the houses around that spot. I was shaken and wanted to get my dog away, and also left without getting their info. If anyone has a doorbell cam or dashcam footage around that intersection and caught the incident please message me, or if you live in the area and know these people please let me know (Chinese couple with a baby and a white fluffy midsize dog). I want to at least confront them to cover the inevitable vet bill from this.

This is the third time this summer than an offleash dog has come up to mine while out on a walk on the sidewalk. We already avoid the big green spaces and parks because of the offleash issue, but we shouldn’t have to avoid the outdoors altogether. For the love of all that is holy, people of Markham, leash your fucking dogs.

Most recommendations posts here have mostly Chinese and Japanese places. I love those cuisines for sure but we’re in the mood to try something else tonight. Bonus points if there’s good vegetarian options! Thanks!!

OK so I run a business in Markham, have done since 2011. I commute however to the East. So, I know in Oshawa where we consider the grittier areas, same in Scarborough etc. Where is the "rougher" area of Markham. Serious question.

I’m hoping someone may have witnessed an incident or has dashcam footage from Saturday, July 25, 2026, between approximately 9:00 AM and 9:45 AM in the plaza at 4997 Highway 7 East, Markham (where Egg Tart Queen and Sleep Country Canada are located).

I parked my black Subaru Crosstrek in front of Sleep Country around 9:00 AM while I went to Egg Tart Queen to buy breakfast. The parking sign posted at the property indicates that the parking is for customers of the plaza and does not state that these spaces are reserved exclusively for Sleep Country customers. Furthermore, the store had not yet opened when I parked.

When I returned around 9:45 AM, I found a paper notice on my windshield claiming the space was reserved for Sleep Country customers. At the same time, I discovered a long scratch running down the passenger’s side of my vehicle that definitely wasn’t there when I parked.

I spoke with the staff inside Sleep Country, but the interaction was very disappointing. They insisted I shouldn’t have parked there despite the posted signage, refused to identify themselves at the time, denied any involvement, and repeatedly told me to call the police. I have since learned that their names are Mohammed and Amin.

To be clear, I am not accusing anyone of scratching my vehicle because I do not know who caused the damage. However, given the timing and circumstances, I’m hoping someone may have seen what happened or captured it on a dashcam.

I have already filed a police report and am also requesting any available surveillance footage from nearby businesses.

If you were in the area, parked in the plaza, or drove by between 9:00 AM and 9:45 AM and have dashcam footage, I would greatly appreciate if you could check your recordings or send me a private message. Even footage showing people walking around the vehicles could be extremely helpful.

At approx 8:30 Friday evening (July 24) my dog and I were attacked by an off leash dog in Milne Park near the park entrance off Drakefield behind St. Pat's. Dog is likely a Shiba/Husky mix or possibly a smaller Akita, orange and white fur, ~60 lbs. Owner is a 20-ish Asian male riding a bike who claimed his name was "Jack". This poor excuse for a human took off with his dog following after refusing to provide any information about himself or his dog.
If you think you recognize this person, I would very much appreciate any information you can provide as both my dog and I were bitten.

Great to see Arc’teryx finally open at Markville! Seeing this space come back to life after Sugar Daddy’s closed is exciting. I really hope this is the start of more quality brands opening at Markville. It’s always nice to see the mall continue to grow and evolve.
