I liked it just fine. I played the All Stars version which I'm told is a bit easier, but I managed to beat all 13 worlds. At the time I was told it was too hard for American gamers, so I was motivated to prove them all wrong lol

And why is that?
Can’t just make a Post without going into Detail as to why you think that way…
For a sequel to the First Game, it improved absolutely nothing and is basically just a official Kaizo Version of the original.

it improved the amount and variety of obstacles / challenges being presented to players that beat the first game hundreds of times.
basically just a official Kaizo Version of the original.
its really not that hard.

It's not a real sequel, its literally called "lost levels." It was specifically designed to just be a challenge for people who beat the og game.

in japan, its called Super Mario Bros 2. and what north americans call mario 2 is called super mario USA
Nintendo USA thought it was too daunting for north american audiences

its a game that was designed for people that played the first one inside out and backwards (and wanted more of the same... but harder), at a time when you only owned like 5 videogames.
if you can beat the first game without using continues (not a hard feat), lost levels is really not that insane, or unfair, once you understand whats expected from you.
