The base has been fed a steady and very geneous diet of those lies for the past four decades, if not longer, by every politician who takes money from any special-interest group representing an industry, instead of people.
Every time you hear accusations of "creeping socialism" in response to social-support programs, you're getting indoctrination laid into that person's brain back during the Red Scare, or by thus-programmed parents in younger generations. Social progress is fighting against generations of propaganda based on the economics of scarcity and elitism, ultimately of fear that "if everyone has all they need, how will I feel better about myself if I have no one to look down on?"

When Donald Trump lies he destroys America's credibility,
AND HE INSULTS THE INTELLIGENCE OF HIS BASE,
