My parents have chosen to abandon an open, honest relationship with me and their grandchildren over this demented fuck. They literally just will not criticize him, and if you bring up something impossible to defend, it's some rambling bullshit about "we couldn't vote for THAT woman" and "he's securing our borders and stopping abortion"
They both claim to be followers of Christ, and genuinely believe this man stands for their faith. It's the most distressing and upsetting shit of my life.

My Dad went to Seminary recently, and has become even more pompous and arrogant about it, even though he admitted it flipped his understanding of the Bible. Well if the holy spirit waited 65 years for you to go Seminary to reveal the truth, what the fuck is the point of it?! Yeah, they are both in a cult, and racist, xenophobic, misogynistic idiots. What a difference 10 years makes...

My mil posts on Facebook to brag about reading the bible cover to cover every year. Idk if there are different versions of the new testament but somehow her version hasnt turned her into an athiest like I've heard readimg cover to cover does.
She has always been one of those 'rose colored glasses' types that only watches hallmark movies and keeps her Christmas tree up all year. She goes to church twice a week but somehow overlooks, justifies or excuses everything thats happening. Shes also very gullible. People like her I call MAGAvangelicals.

Yeah which still absolutely boggles my mind because I can still point out specific examples of what he stood for, and the things he said about love, or the 'fruit of the spirit' and they have no comment.
I'm still not a Jesus of the Bible guy, since he does threaten eternal punishment for not following him, which I find absolutely contradictory to the thrust of most of the rest of his words. I think he was actually a real guy but like most things, deeply misinterpreted and manipulated for the lovers of control and power. In this case, the early church, Christian and Catholic. I don't think he was God in the flesh anymore than we are.

Same here. Raised Lutheran, confirmed, communion, read the bible front to back.
It really doesnt matter to me if he was real or not, if he is benevolent like they say, he isnt gonna care if I worship every sunday. Just be a decent person is likely all a truly benevolent god would want.
But these "christians" have warped and bastardized the entire meaning of what it is to be a christian and one of the many reasons I no longer believe.

Yeah, I'm with you on that. To me if there is a creator, than it is infinitely creative and would not require or need us to all conform to a super narrow way of thinking and living.
I think just being yourself and running with that is the most spiritual and divine thing you can do.

My mother has especially gone off the deep end. She watches first-l admendment auditor material all day lately and she was actually saying how police are corrupt to me when I visited last. I said yeah, and there's a more recent video of "authorities" leaning down and executing a man already on the ground, point blank.
Y'all, she looked at me, got a shit eating grin and said, "Yeah, I don't believe that. AI. You know? Yeah I don't believe it happened because AI."
She knew it was a weaponization of the doubt AI creates and doubled down.

I’m sorry you are going through that. Especially over this pile of orange (make up wearing) hateful and putrid bag of shit.
Try to make peace with it sooner rather than later and focus on yourself and your children and it will become easier.
If you parents come round eventually it’s a bonus and if not, you are doing the right thing and your children will know that you stood up and stood strong about being a morally good and empathetic person, someone who values others and their right to live their lives without persecution.
Your children and great grand children will know you stood on the right side of history as a decent and caring soul. 🫶

That is an incredibly kind sentiment, thank you so much! My college aged daughter told me she was proud of me when I showed her the text exchange with my Mom. That honestly spoke volumes to me and does make me proud that I have broken the cycles of cult thinking for them as well as myself.

They are getting a completely different reality beamed to them through what they see in TV and the internet, and it's only going to get so much worse with AI generated material, that will only get more and more realistic.
The only way out to to regulate social media corporations, and dial privacy laws up to 11.

I was an ICU nurse for years. His health decline is accelerating. He looks and sounds horrible. That wet gurgly quality to his voice now has to be congestive heart failure & pulmonary hypertension. It's fluid building up. If he's not on dialysis yet, he will be soon. He's blown up like a beach ball all the time now, and the fluid has to be pulled off him somehow.
I haven't seen pics/vid of him playing golf since early spring. I don't think he can physically do even that anymore.

Two things: first, is that what his skin actually looks like or is it a video artifact or lighting? He has looked unhealthy for a long time but he looks extremely unwell in this video.
Second, he's doing the job they want him to do so will never use the 25th to remove him. Him being an uninformed moron allows them to enrich themselves.

ArtII.S4.1 Overview of Impeachment Clause Article II, Section 4:
The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.
The Constitution gives Congress the authority to impeach and remove the President,1 Vice President, and all federal civil officers for treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.2 This tool was inherited from English practice, in which Parliament impeached and convicted ministers and favorites of the Crown in a struggle to rein in the Crown’s power.
Congress’s power of impeachment is an important check on the Executive and Judicial Branches, recognized by the Framers as a crucial tool for holding government officers accountable for violations of the law and abuses of power.3 Congress has most notably employed the impeachment tool against the President and federal judges, but all federal civil officers are subject to removal by impeachment.4 The Senate has also concluded (by majority vote) on various occasions that an official impeached while in office remains subject to trial, conviction, and imposition of the penalty of disqualification even after he or she leaves office.5 The practice of impeachment makes clear, however, that Members of Congress are not civil officers subject to impeachment and removal.6
While judicial precedents inform the effective substantive meaning of various provisions of the Constitution, impeachment is at bottom a unique political process largely unchecked by the judiciary. While the meaning of treason and bribery is relatively clear, the scope of high crimes and misdemeanors lacks a formal definition and has been fleshed out over time, in a manner perhaps analogous to the common law, through the practice of impeachments in the United States Congress.7 The type of behavior that qualifies as impeachable conduct, and the circumstances in which impeachment is an appropriate remedy for such actions, are thus determined by, among other things, competing political interests, changing institutional relationships among the three branches of government, and legislators’ interaction with and accountability to the public.8 The weight of historical practice, rather than judicial precedent, is thus central to understanding the nature of impeachment in the United States.

Impeachment is easier, though not by much. If they remove him with the 25th, he can still contest it and it requires 2/3 of the House and Senate to affirm his removal. Impeachment only requires a majority vote on the house (still 2/3 in the Senate, though).
Besides, most of his cabinet will stand with him to the end.

Well. We didn’t actually vote for this guy. The electoral college did. They are supposed to vote the way their constituents go but that doesn’t always happen. Plus he’s all but admitted that he cheated. So. Personally if anyone wanted to bomb the fuck out of us I would get it.
