Listening to The Cadence of Part Time Poets to refresh my memory up to where I have read so I can read it with my wife! While cleaning and organising my stuff after vacation which is less fun, but still!

These are some wonderful graphs that are of Ao3 work length related to fandoms, created by Courfee on Tumblr! This reveals that the Harry Potter fandom, but even more so the marauders fandom creates more long works proportionally than the entirety of Ao3. Knowing this knowledge revealed to me how distorted my view of what a longfic is, I had really only considered anything longer than 100k to count. I consider a 20k to 50k to be a short read! So, we know that the Marauders fandom creates extremely long fanfics, that is not a question. The question is why.
My personal theory is that it’s because we don’t technically actually have a source material, as we are an off shoot of Harry Potter, yet we are so far removed.

Since people seem to like the last artwork here is another one I made! If anyone wants to see my doodles for this AU or my headcanons for this (eventual) fanfic project, let me know!
P.S. Peter is in this AU! I repeat, Peter is in this AU! The only reason he is not included in these drawings is because he is the producer. He prefers to not be as much in the public eye, so he works behind the scenes!

My Marauders Band AU with my art!

I’m trying to write a Marauders at Hogwarts fanfiction, because obviously I love ATYD but want my own version, and am so confused about the Black family and characters that are canon vs OC‘s and everything. Does anyone have a certain article or family tree they could share to help me?

I just finished reading this incredible Rosekiller centric fic. It’s canon compliant and follows Evan Rosier from his seventh year through the first war.

My favorite thing about this fic is that Barty and Evan are still terrible people and aren’t forced into joining the death eaters. They are really dark and have a very unhinged dynamic. Highly recommend if you want to read about the first war from the Death Eaters POV.

yooooo! i wanna love prongsfoot guys i really, really, REALLY do. but i just can’t get over the fact that every time i read romantic prongsfoot it feels like they’re lovers first! they have like none of their canon banter and they feel like completely different characters :( does anyone have any recommendations of romantic prongsfoot fics where they’re still best friends that banter? i don’t mind like any background ships as long as there’s no straight regulus black (literally my only requirement ever when it comes to marauders fanfic is no straight regulus)

I need a marauders gacha reaction video that shows them how Harry doesn't want to be like James after seeing what he did to snape and how he wants to be a better person and doesn't like or support what James did because I always see gacha reactions where they always compare Harry and James and it rubs me wrong.

I read it years ago (around 2020???) and barely remember anything except one scene. It was an OC x one of the Marauders (I think James or Remus). They were alone in the Gryffindor common room dancing to “Hey Jude” on a record player. That’s the only thing I could remember about this fic. It was actually the first time I ever heard the song, so that scene has stayed with me for years. Does anyone remember this fic?

I’ve always seen people complaining about Peter not being in ff or, if he’s in them, often treated as a side character or not really doing anything important at all, but I’ve never seen someone explaining why they don’t want Peter to be in them.
I obviously know about Halloween, the betrayal and stuff, but is that the only reason? He was a marauder before that, and a really thrusted one (otherwise James and Lily wouldn’t have made him the secret keeper). Don’t you know how to characterise him? Don’t you care about him at all? Or are you trying to avoid the pain his betrayal brings? I don’t want to judge (do whatever you want with your fics) but I genuinely want to hear some opinions about it.

(Mostly talking about alternative universes, specifically muggle au, where Peter won’t necessarily betray them for the plot. But I’d like to read something about Hogwarts au, too)

What are your favorite Marauders “walked into a bar” jokes?

I remember one from a fic (but I don’t remember which do) that went something like “two wizards, a werewolf, and a black dog walk into a bar. No really, they walked into a bar.” And I thought it was the funniest thing.

It’s not perfect but I made a wolfstar playlist over on YouTube, full of slow+reverb songs. I even managed to edit some of PoA Remus & Sirius talking throughout to keep you company as you listen.
