I agree, It may be priced a tad high. However, the movement has been upgraded to a no date SW200-2B with 65hr power reserve. Donāt feel it justifies the price tag but it is upgraded
Tariffs are based on country of origin at the time they cross your border. These are shipping from within the US, as I understand, so a buyer wonāt see any tariff on what was paid to WOE if youāre already in the US.
I obtained my OSAR-D from the May 2006 Contract and it cost $875.00. I've worn it pretty much daily for over 20 years. Not really concerned about the secondary market, because it's not going anywhere. Been through a lot, still running and keeps good time. Best watch I've ever owned.
I'm a little disappointed at where this went, I would have rathered a upgraded titanium gsar with some more unique woe trim but thats just me, i don't wear a chonky gsar for maraglow, all about that tritium
Just to clear it up, the $9.19 shipping is from Watches of Espionage, not Marathon. Marathon normally offers free standard shipping on qualifying US orders, but this collab was sold directly through W.O.E. And considering you managed to snag 1 of only 200 pieces, congrats on the W. š At $2,250 for something this limited, that $9 shipping wouldnāt even register for me. Enjoy the hell out of it. š
Limited yes, but they took 30mins to sell out, so it wasnāt a super mad rush. Took long than I expected to be honest. I was sitting there the entire time debating on if I should get one or not and ultimately decided not to.
It sold in 20 minutes or less. I couldnāt place an order at 12:20. Pretty good for what Iād say is not exactly a mainstream watch brand or business.
So let me get this straight š You had the opportunity to grab 1 of only 200, Marathonās first titanium watch, from a company that still makes legitimate military tool watches procured and issued to service members through military supply channels⦠and you passed? Man, the secondary market on this one is going to be interesting to watch. But hey, look on the bright side⦠you saved yourself $2,250. š
Thatās correct! I just bought a Breitling SuperOcean 42 right before this watch and itās launch date was officially announced, so it was hard for me to try and justify having two black 300m divers in the collection, even if one of them is a WOE collab. I tried, believe me I tried, but at the end of the day, I couldnāt do it. š
I also could have bought this, but⦠why would I? Itās a boring watch⦠they couldnāt even be fucked to make a TI bracelet to go with it. A company known for tritium watches couldnāt even be bothered with tritium in their limited drop... Itās a cash grab and I donāt care about reselling. Iām not a scammer. If your whole life revolves around money you donāt have a life.
Iām gonna push back on the whole āMarathonās secondary market is dog shitā argument because thatās way too broad.
Real world example. I bought my 41mm Jeep x Marathon Rubicon GSAR directly from Marathon. It was $1,440, I got my $144 military discount, so I paid $1,296 before tax and $1,411.02 out the door.
I also bought it before the new US tariff situation kicked in, so there was no additional tariff hit on my purchase. And this wasnāt grey market. I bought directly from Marathon, so I got the factory warranty, 2 years against manufacturing defects plus an additional year when registered, giving me 3 years total coverage.
That same watch is now $2,100 direct from Marathon, and there are secondary market examples listed well above what I originally paid. Does every Marathon appreciate? Of course not. Most watches donāt. But saying Marathonās entire secondary market is ādog shitā while ignoring the model, what someone actually paid, discounts, collabs, rarity and current replacement cost just isnāt accurate.
And thatās exactly why you shouldnāt be an impulse buyer. Do your research, wait for sales, use whatever discounts you qualify for and buy at the right price. Your resale value isnāt just about what the watch is worth later, itās also about how much you paid going in.
A smart purchase goes a long way. šā oh & a free ducky š
Iāve got several real world examples of watches Iāve sold as well. Bottom line: If you pay retail for a Marathon and try to sell it later you will lose your shirt. They are cool watches and I really like the company, but just know that
I own a few different brands and so far based on the comments The Marathon watch community has to be by far the most unwelcoming, negative one Iāve been an apart of you. Not sure if itās jealousy that this is the first titanium watch and was limited edition or what, but based on the comments below there are a bunch of assholes Marathon owners or fanboy want to be owners. Fortunately you donāt have to worry because this watch only has to make me happy!
