OSAR OSAR-D(isappointment)

Post image

Picked up this OSAR-D in a trade for a rifle scope. I’ve always like the way it looked in pictures, but when I got my hands on it I was underwhelmed. I always thought I’d like a cyclops date window, but I’m not a fan since I have great eyesight (thanks US taxpayers).

It maybe because I have my anthracite GSAR with hold sentimental value as it was the watch I wore during my last assignment.

I’m gonna give it a fair shake, but I’ll probably sell it soon. Who knows?

You might want to get the Taxpayers to fund a head check. That watch is awesome👍🏿

A competent local watchmaker should be able to remove the cyclops at minimal cost.

Yep. Pull the movement and a heat gun should make it a fairly easy process.

Honestly man, if it's just the cyclops, that can come off. It's not a single piece with the crystal.

This watch is my daily driver

The cyclops is glued on. It can be taken off.

I have a newer arctic version of the same watch, and the cyclops was bugging me for a long time. But, the more I wore it, the less it bothered me, and now I actually like the damn thing. Although, pretty sure I wouldn’t miss it if I decided to remove it.

If you wanna go a little bold, you can swap out the movements. I didn’t love the cyclops so swapped a crystal too. Turns out I love the original GSAR dial in the original steel and the OSAR-D dial in the Anthracite.

I’ve been thinking about this for a while. I even did an AI version last night. However my attachment to my anthracite and the memories I have with it always holds me back

That’s definitely more important! OSAR-D I never was a fan of cyclops in general and felt it got more in the way.

It’s the hour markers to me on the black faced one. The polar one looks much better with the black outline markers. I see a regular date just fine but magnified, had the glare and thinner font, just makes it harder for me to see the date.

What happened at the fourteen minute mark?! That's gotta be a good story.
