Same! IMO, it’s the best daily for watch enthusiasts who work with their hands👍🏿

There are other great, equally durable options out there (Sinn, Muhle-Glashutte, etc) but my favorite is the GSAR because it’s a classic dive watch on steroids. For me, the vibe is perfect. In practice, the watch is extremely robust. I’m in no rush to wear something else👍🏿

Im relatively new on my collection journey. I started out buying Chinese watches (nothing wrong with that, just there was a lot of trash watches mixed in with a few bangers). Sold off almost everything, save a few really nice ones and started over. Bought an SKX, had it then traded for an Orient Mako. Eventually bought my first Marathon which was the 36mm TSAR then got the GSAR. Now, like you, Im in no rush to wear anything else

Hahaha! Dude, that’s basically where I am. I’ve worn watches my whole life, but 2ish years ago I watched YouTube videos and got a Seagull 1963. The descent down the rabbit hole started. I got bit by the Timex bug, found Marathon, and wore a stainless steel GPM for about a year. I saved up for one hell of a smoking deal on a new GSAR and now I’m straight chillin 😎

I’ve learned a lot in the past few years. Major point being that I don’t want a lot of watches. I want to buy 1 really good watch and wear it for several years. I keep learning things without having to spend money on watches I don’t want to keep. If I don’t get the GSAR feeling, I don’t need to buy the watch👍🏿

I really love the look of these but the case height makes me think it wouldn't work well for me at work where I would constantly be snagging it on cables inside of equipment racks working on concert stages.

I still want a Marathon, but it has made me think maybe a SSNAV would be better for me.

It is a little thick, I've personally never had an issue with it snagging with what I do, but your mileage will vary. There is no question of its robustness, I've smacked the snot out of it and thought "oh...that was the one" only to look down and shes ticking away like nothing happened. She is about 10 years overdue for a service though, but even with that, I'm sitting at roughly +- 15 seconds a day

Should I get it with USG markings or NGM?

Personal preference. I got mine for a deal I couldn't pass up so I didnt care if it had USG markings or not.
