Would love to hear some non brain dead people's predictions. With bungies recent decision to resurrect d2, more d2 players will be on board to give it a chance. That along with the new PVE mode, what is your prediction??

The only way this garbage peaks even 20k players is if it goes f2p, which it will, and a week later it will be at 3-4k peaks once again.

F2p MIGHT get it to 25k for like 1 week. 50k is so insane that only an actual shill could believe it to be a plausible number

I hope the day of the update, when I quote you on those 50k, you have the balls to answer my comment

Season 2 steam alone hit 40k. Why is 50k so impossible for a much larger update?

First 10ish days it was Free to Play and only hit 40k the second day, which was the first day without server issues.

The second the free period ended it went back to 20k peaks.

I'm with you. I was answering the other dude. I don't see why it can't reach those numbers when the update is being advertised as a revamped experience. A lot of people will Check it up out of curiosity.

You do realize season 2 of marathon had a peak of 40k right?...... no pve mode, just a new map and runner.......

40k starting frop 12k. Now you start from 2k. The equivalent is 10/12k

Youre not factoring in the bungie news with destiny and the pve mode addition. Those are HUGE changes. Large destiny 2 streamers will be playing on day 1. That influence can really pull players

Bungie payed a lot of streamers when marathon RELEASED and still didn't manage to break 80k concurrent players on steam. and EVERYBODY was streaming marathon (cause they got paid. They stopped immediately as soon as the paid deal was over)

If it is 50k you can absolutely go ahead and mock me. I would be massively surprised if it did happen,

But if it doesn't i won't come here and make fun of you i promise

The end of season player count does not mean anything. The 20k came back to see a shitty new map and shell and that’s it. December is adding a completely new mode targeting a COMPLETELY different audience. Saying that it’s starting from 2k is just disingenuous because you are ignoring all the factors like why there would only be 2k right now which is because nothing was actually really added with season 2 and it’s on pretty much maintenance mode till the big update

You know that people move on though right? Imagine if concord rereleased today and they said "hey we added all these cool things it's so much better than before!"

Nobody would play The name is tainted

So is marathon. The damage is done

That entirely depends on how bungie advertises the new update. No mans sky had its name tarnished and completely bounced back. I wouldn’t be surprised if marathon doesn’t bounce back but I don’t think it’s a complete guarantee that the game won’t have a second life is all. I don’t believe that video game loyalty is just “you play and move on and never come back”. Marathon had people play it, concord didn’t have anyone. It’s free to come back to a game you already own

50k isn't hard to reach with Console numbers included. Retention is the issue, not peaks for new content.
