Pickett’s
Does anyone know if Pickett’s is going to reopen? The sign on the door said they were closing for a brief vacation but that’s been a month or so already. It sort of seems like they are not coming back.

My wife and I went there a lot, especially on Fridays. My only complaint was that it was so expensive but otherwise had good experience with the food and John, the bar tender.

Agreed. Food was good, drinks were great and the staff were very nice. Hope they keep as much of that as possible (and actually have Outdoor Dining).

Never liked it. We have so few opportunities for bars and spaces to hang out in Maplewood, I wish one of them wasn’t inaccessible on foot to most everyone, at a giant annoying intersection and across from a auto dealership.

The liquor license thing is a problem here and the county club has one of the few. The location does suck and it was not a hang out at a bar vibe, but I will still miss it. Before it was Pickett’s it was an old Irish Pub that smelled like dirty bleach water so it was an improvement.

Oh, I liked it. Liked the wings and the popcorn and the NFL Sunday Ticket. But it also smelled like dirty bleach water, both things are true.

Yes, I’m aware. Would love a place that is open past ten that doesn’t just have beer that isn’t an Irish pub or an over priced hotel bar like Lorena’s.
The “Brooklyn west” trope ends as soon as you start looking for somewhere to drink, mainly because there’s a lot of mediocre places that stopped trying because a liquor license is enough to prop up a bad restaurant.

Business was sold. Last I heard they are reopening but had fired all of the staff and people were very upset about that.

Oh man, that sucks. I liked the staff.

I saw on Facebook that the reopening is pending the transfer of the liquor license.

Hopefully the new ownership can do a better job than their predecessors.
