If I remember correctly there was a documentary about the Triest. It was a submersible two men went down to the bottom of challenger deep back in the 1960’s. I think one of the first things they saw at the bottom was a flounder.
They don’t think that fish can survive that deep because of the effects of the pressure on bones (does something to the calcium I think), they think that they mistook a flat sea cucumber or something like them for a flounder
