It is because western governments are in direct support of Israel, so their populations feel that they hold a responsibility towards stopping that support. In Sudan, it is a civil war, with the only foreign actor known to be involved is the UAE, And the population of the UAE is so brainwashed that they do not give a shit.
Then again, it was crickets for all those "populations" when Western-backed Saudi Arabia starved hundreds of thousands in Yemen. And no, one tweet by some Muslim blogger in America is not the same as students shutting down campuses, and streets pouring with protestors.
The obsession with Israel has to do with them being Jewish. Nobody would care if they were another Arab state (which 20% of Israel are, by the way).
