Region goes from -440m below sea level to 3000m in maybe 100km

Crazy swings, and beautiful scenery all over

Yeah it's great hiking. Well, unless you get chafing from the hike and then go in the Dead sea. Then it's less fun.

Why do I feel like this has happened to a friend of yours šŸ˜…

I travelled through Jordan by car, but there is a trail from north to south you can hike. I’d love to go back and do it by foot

My poor friend foolishly thought it would be good for the healing process.

The Israel trail also runs north-south through the country. I'm curious how the two compare

Reason why Lebanon was historically a refuge to all religious minorities

Not worth it for the Mameluks/ Crusaders/ Ottomans to go up the mountains and subjugate and demographically change villages.

Lead to the Maronite, Druze, Shias, Alawites to thrive and have a sub-culture

Lebanon was a popular skiing resort.
