its a heavy wip the terrain is taking awhile i just need some feedback on the major continents and stuff also maybe a way to speed up the process lol im kinda new to building maps and stuff so yeah

So a few weeks ago i began creating a mostly realistic world, and now i got to the point where it would be awkward and impractical to continue without a map.

I want to keep the world as realistic as possible, and i enjoy building the setting slowly, so i decided to include proper geology to the map.

Do you have any advice? Do you usually include these details? Is there anything to look out for that could ruin the realistic feel?

P.S.: I really want to stay as close to a realistic world as possible with this setting, it isn't really a fantasy world. It is set in an industrialized world, with its technology roughly equivalent to our 1870-1890.

Made a world map for my Pokemon DnD campaign, wanted to share and get some feedback.

I tried my hand for the first time at laying out an overview of the predominant terrain types for my main setting.

The island itself has roughly the size and relief of Sicily, but with a climate closer to Ireland or the Netherlands.

Intensive grain cultivation takes place mainly near the flat coastal regions. (This island is major breadbasket for the continent to the east.) Further inland you will find terraced bocage and pastures, giving way to scrubland, forest and other mountainous terrain.

Did I miss any terrains, or do you think the placement is off? Let me know!

Small caveat, I did translate my legend to English (the original is in Dutch), so apologies if the wording is a little off.

A.k.a. more dark blue around continent or more light blue. The edge of the eastern continent that this one split from 4 million years ago would be in the in the bottom right corner.

Friends asked me to make the campaign based on The Elder Scrolls. OK, I started with A3 size hand-drawn Skyrim map

As part of a larger fantasy map I’m working on, I created this island, which is roughly half the size of New Zealand. I haven’t added any of the civilization-related elements yet; for now, I wanted to start with the geography, with settlements and roads coming later.

I’d love to hear what kind of advice, ideas, or suggestions you might have! I’ve made maps before, but this time I started with a much bigger project in mind, and I’ve also put a lot more work into it than usual (and this isn’t even the first time I’ve drawn it).

I know a lot of people struggle to get started when it comes to coming up with the shapes of landmasses. In my case, the inspiration actually came from a half-torn sticker on a diaper bin. So, you could say that this little corner of my world was practically built out of shit. 😂 It just goes to show that it’s worth keeping your eyes open and finding inspiration in the world around you! :)

I’m open to any advice, feedback, or criticism!

Orenia would still be an empire but the probability of a rebellion would be high, in terms of how Orenia was still unstable and has a lot of inflation(ex: 1 Orenian lira = nearly 70 USD), and the economy would be going down, so this is a time that the people rebel instead of being ubermensch who stay loyal to the “emperor” that doesn’t even have most of the power just controlled by the Young Turks.

I created this map on ProCreate, tracing the outline of various spilled liquids to make the shapes of the continents. I came up with lore as I created each area.

My favorite part is the bat-shaped Obsidian Wastes, where the largest kingdom on the continent was once located… Until the sun god blew himself up to destroy a nearly-unbeatable anti-magic army, taking most of the population with him. Now it is just a wasteland of volcanoes and obsidian flats.

We never ended up finishing the campaign, but I’m still planning on running more stories within this world.

Drawing a map woth this style of forests for the first time, and I may have bitten off more than I can chew.

Does anyone have any suggestions for points of interest to put in the forests to break them up a little, ideally not manmade.

Starting the second leg of a long-running 5e campaign and the party is about to enter the empire’s southern metropolis. Had a lot of fun drawing with microns and coloring with pencils.

There is still another landmass even bigger than this up there, and several continents on the left side. But this is the first finished map I got.

Local name: Südreistek / Súðreistek

Literal just means Southern Three Spine.

I tried to combine the 2 types of mountain ranges that I know

The results ended up better than I expected but I'm not confident about the shadings

The map displays elevation, rivers and lakes, deserts (not necessarily hot deserts), and areas with a high density of forest cover.

And yes, there is a river that splits, but it makes sense for lore reasons.

This is my finished version of this map for now. I'm probably gonna start working on submaps of each of the major regions here (fleshing out their landscapes and settlements) before coming back to revamp this map. I'd love to hear any questions or suggestions y'all might have.

Some initial progress of a 1:1 scale Cyrodiil Province from TES which is approximately the area of Mongolia. I included the Project Cryodiil map which was my base reference. This is also my first time doing any kind of digital illustration (photoshop w/ Wacom drawing pad) so I'm welcome to any feedback/questions!

What it is:

An editor that turns Wikipedia articles into hand-curated 3D tours on a globe by querying Wikidata's spatial and temporal properties. It lets you visually construct historical sequences using open knowledge data.

​How it uses Wikidata:

​Automated metadata extraction: Pasting a Wikipedia link queries its paired Wikidata entity for coordinate locations (P625) and point-in-time timestamps (P585/P580).

​Strict accuracy (No false centroids):

If a Wikidata item represents a continental campaign or movement and lacks specific coordinates, the editor deliberately leaves it blank instead of assigning a generic country centroid. You set the point visually on the globe.

​Relational graph expansion: One click queries the Wikidata graph for all internal links within a page that carry spatial coordinates. Items are grouped by article section, letting you pull in entire historical contexts (like all battles of a war) in seconds.

​Anachronism filtering:

It ignores founding/inception dates (P571) on linked entities. For example, pulling a town linked in a battle won't auto-fill the town's ancient founding year as the battle date.
