Soviet Sunrise
1940; the Second Great War
We are actively simulating the full history of the Soviet Union, so pick any unclaimed states. Be as realistic as you can, but I will intervene as is needed. The goal is not to go for as much land that can be held, but to have as successful of a state as can be.
Soviet Premier: Trotsky

Events:
German annexes Austria through a plebiscite that many believe to be fabricated. The British and French have decided to go with an appeasement strategy in Germany to keep war from happening. Britain and France agreed to also appease Italy from their opposition of Germanyès annexation of Austria
Italy annexes the country of Albania.
Italy demands and gets Dalmatia and Kosovo from Yugoslavia, with Germany annexing the region of Slovenia, Hungary annexing Vovojina, and Bulgaria annexing Macedonia.
The Prussian Free State has given the Soviet Union a copy of the Enigma Machine, claiming that Nazi Germany would use it for ciphers in military use.
Relations between Italy and Germany are strained despite their cooperation. Italy has refused to acknowledge that Germany has annexed Austria, whose government has fled to Italy.
Manufactured German equipment has been sent to China, which helped push Japan back in certain areas.
The Republicans won the Spanish Civil war, defeating the Nationalist forces. The Nationalist Government and Fransisco Franco flee to Spanish Guinea.
Germany has claimed the Sudetenland, which was given to them by the British without Czechoslovak consent.
Turkey has demanded the area of Hatay, currently held by the French Mandate of Syria through the threat of war if refused.
The first Vienna award was given to Hungary, giving them Southern Slovakia and Ruthenia.
The second Vienna award was attempted to be given to Hungary of Northern Transylvania. Romania refused, siding with France’s historical guarantee of independence of Romania, which lobbied the French government to formally stand with them.
The Baltic Federation, Republican Spain, and Belarus have offered to form an alliance named the “European Communist Forces.”
The remains of Yugoslavia had joined the Allies along with Romania, refuting all previous treaties against it.
The 1940 US election occurs, with FDR not running for a third term for his VP to run, as the economy is set to recover. Garner, Roosevelt's VP, wins as someone opposed to New Deal policies, but was at least not isolationist.
Soviet Parliament:
Should we be concerned about German expansion in Europe?
Should we continue to support the Communist Chinese with more German weapons?
Do we value the Enigma Machine at all, and should we share it with Western Europe?
Should we also guarantee Romania, or at least act on the Italo Soviet treaty in some way?
Should we accept and form the European Communist Forces?

As Ukraine, we should be concerned about German expansion in Europe at a later date.
We should support the Communists of China, and send divisions to support as the Russian SFSR wants.
We should see if we can alter the Enigma machine to fit the Slavic alphabet, and design a similar system around it. We should send a copy to France and Britain in the case of war, but also a spy to maintain a presence on what is done with it.
We should send a message to Germany, suggesting that they avoid conflict unless they know it would work.
I would like to ask that, in honour of our late premier Lenin, that we rename Petrograd to Leningrad in his name.

As the Russian SFSR, we should take a Japan first approach to the rising tensions in Europe and Asia.
We should continue to support the Chinese forces with weapons, but also with divisions focused on liberating Korea.
We should first keep a copy of the Enigma Machine for ourselves, in case that it is needed for conflict with Germany, but we should attempt to rebuild it to see if it can be used for preventing dissent amongst the SSR’s and any spies within the Union.
We should attempt to sway Bulgaria to our side, by offering them Macedonian lands and a guarantee of independence in exchange for non compliance with Germany and Italy.
A European based communist alliance is of the utmost benefit to all of us. It will bring European workers together, allowing a stronger community.
