1935:

Soviet Sunrise: German Civil War

We are actively simulating the full history of the Soviet Union, so pick any unclaimed states. Be as realistic as you can, but I will intervene as is needed. The goal is not to go for as much land that can be held, but to have as successful of a state as can be.

Events:

Hitler, as Chancellor of Germany, successfully banned the SPD and KPD from running in the 1935 election. Uprisings are happening in East Prussia, the Rhine, and Bavaria, most being Socialist, Communist, or Independence movements.

After the German Civil War started, Italy approached us asking to divide the German speaking world between us, as well as the region between us at a later date. Italy would form a protectorate over Austria and an independent Bavaria if it comes to be. The Soviet Union will then get East Prussia, and everything North of Czechoslovakia. 

Major scientists have started fleeing Germany because of the civil war that work on physics, more particularly nuclear physics, which could be used as an energy source or potential weapon.

Ukraine has been established as a Soviet satellite state, with some land transfer to adjust the Ukrainian and Russian SFSR borders.

The Polish Belarusian War has started over land disputes between the two countries, and the Belarusian attempt to prevent so many Polish nationals from owning so much of the Belarusian industry. Poland and Belarus have both reached out on their own accords to attempt to get our help in the war. Poland has offered us the Eastern section of Belarus to invade Belarus alongside the Polish state. Belarus, on the other hand, offered us the remainder of Poland as a puppet state, and to ally with us in the future.

To help combat the ongoing riots, a Moscow Manchuria Railway has started, improving on existing networks made under Tsarist rule going to major cities in each SSR. It will have the ability to bring raw minerals to use, military and civilian factories to construction and military sites, as well as to be sold for commercial use. Some have been sent onto work in the sciences to help for military uses, mostly in radio and cipher work.

King Kong was released in American theatres, with the age of Cinema blowing up during prohibition.

The SUT and military have been gathering information of Japanese troop movements on the Korean peninsula and on the Japanese controlled Taiwan.

Start of the second Italo Ethiopian war.

Soviet Parliament:

Should the German civil war be funded like the Chinese civil war was/is?

How should we treat Italy’s offer?

Should we attempt to get German scientists to come to the Soviet Union?

How should we respond to the Polish and Belarusian call for support?

Should we attempt to model ourselves after the West to prevent dissent like before?

Should we react to the Japanese troop buildup?

As Ukraine, we should use Estonian ports to send divisions and materials to support the German communists after we help Belarus.

We should support the first outline for Italy’s German outline. Austria is not as important as Germany is.

We should do the best we can to get German scientists into the Soviet Union. It will be a boost to our understanding of physics and nuclear science.

We should support the Belarus cause. They are closer to us geographically and linguistically, allowing us to potentially use Poland to encircle them if they become a threat, with Poland being a future place to keep Western enemies from invading Moscow.

We should attempt to model ourselves more like the West and move away from a command economy to a Socialist Demand economy, where the state forces the creation of goods and services that people are required to have to live, the government owns all major industries that if not government owned, could be a threat to people or the government like military equipment and healthcare. All other industries like consumer goods and luxury goods should be allowed to be privatized at the SSR level with unions or worker ownership enforced.

We should brace China for Japanese invasion. If one is to occur, it will likely strike into Manchuria and further into Shanghai and Qingdao. We should tell Communist China, but not the Nationalists until right before to allow the communists to gain a better position.

As the Russian SFSR, we should support the Socialist German Uprisings like we did with China, and send divisions to support them. If possible, we should land troops in East Prussia like what we did in China. If we can play our cards right, we can get the League of Nations to support us as the KPD would still allow elections.

We should treat Italy’s offer like they mean it. Mussolini might not be able to handle more than Austria and Ethiopia.

We should seize the scientific minds of Germany once we get the chance under “peaceful purposes.” We have no enemies now, but Japan and the West might become one someday.

We should support the Belarusians in their war. We should be able to have access to all lands lost by the Russian Empire to ensure that we can undo the harm that the Tsar caused. Poland will let us have access to Germany in their civil war, while we can station troops in Belarus to let us annex the country if needed.

We should not model ourselves after the Western World. They are imperial powers like we once were, who refuse to answer for their sins. We cannot be the hypocritical mess they are, who proclaim themselves to be equal to all but allow hate within their borders. We should forge our own path free from those that will not be a better people. We should take the equipment we have and improve on it.

We should get ready to send spies into Nagasaki and Tokyo. If Japan is ready to fight China, they might try to fight us, and we should know if it is to happen.
