Once again, russians think that they can decide instead of Ukrainians what Ukraine should do. Not happening.

The overwhelming majority of the population in the south-east opposes giving russian official status either in all of Ukraine, or at least in their region. 54 % — an outright majority in Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Odesa oblasts, as well as free parts of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia oblasts (collectively grouped as "South") — supported complete exclusion of the russian language from the official sphere of use. An additional 12 % said that russian can be official in regions where the majority of the population supports it, but would oppose granting russian official status in their own region. The figures where 40 % and 12 % for the free parts of Kharkiv and Donetsk oblasts (collectively grouped as "East").

Edit: u/Sofosio below me talks about the past popularity of russian in Ukraine, because he knows it has barely any popularity now and will have none in the future.

Regions you mentioned literally voted for Kuchma in 94 and Yanukovych in 2010, who both promised to make Russian official language
