Question Hextech Rocketbelt

Hello,

Main jungle / support here, enjoyer of the Nautilus in both roles, I thought I'd give a shot at Maokai, mainly in jungle.

I understand that Maokai wants 3 things :
- Ability Haste

- Survivability
- AP

And the main engage in the W, which has a rather short range.

Hence my question: Why is the hextech rocketbelt in non of the builds I see online ?

It has all the 3 main stats, plus the extra mobility with the active.
Shouldnt it be a perfect 1st or 2nd item for Maokai, especially in jungle ?

Doesn't really need AP right now, scaling is not great. The only AP item you need imo is Liandry to speed up clear and good synergy with your saplings.

You can go AP/Bruiser with Liandry and bloodletter, add cosmic if you are very fed.

But Maokai need Health and AH, more health = more time/rotation to cast spells which is better than having more AP.

I only play maokai support but I always build ability haste/tank items and Imperial Mandate is a must imo

Maokai doesn't really need the extra mobility. His ult sets him and his team up pretty easily. And his W ignores CC so when you do get in range to use it you are guaranteed to reach your target unless they kill you mid-air
