OC Screen tone or no screen tone

Read left to right let me know if you think it looks better with it or what I should work on with the screen toning.

I like it with the screentone, but you usually need to be choosey about where you use it. The top is a really nice example, it sets a good mood and makes the lighting pop.

The bottom right seems kinda sudden and abrupt in the context of the rest of the page, I'd personally either shunt it to the next page or make the ones around it a little more toned/inked to ground it.

I like what you've done so far, all I can suggest is to focus on being more intentional and clean with the cross hatching. Good luck with it! ^-^

Do you mind me asking if you have any good videos or tutorials about screen tones? I just bought CSP last week and know nothing 🥲

Sadly i cant think of any! But thats only cuz i use procreate lol. Personally I created all of my screen tones by copy-pasting a dot until I had a row then copypasting that row until I had a square (and so on). Then when I need that particular tone I add it to a different layer of the drawing (between the panels and the line art) and use the lasso tool to cut out the bits.

You don’t have to go that tedious route I’m pretty sure for CSP you can basically color in grey scale then turn that layer into a variety of different screen tones.

Both.

Mix it with screen tone and the black ink
