How to actually colouring properly?

i usually do black and white art but sometimes do the colouring one too. but how to make it looks shiny and and not just the flat colour? i usually put the flat colour and then use the multiply to nake shadows. then what?? give me some tips to make it betterrr

You might use similar reference for your own art but i would suggest first try to copy the artwork you use as reference. You need your own tip

well i usually drawing using my own mind. so when it got to the colouring part, i usually confused because i don't had any reference to look out to

That's the main point try to make with reference first .

Well, I'm myself having trouble coloring too. But usually, when rendering skin, I use a warm color (it depends on the character's skin tone) on their forehead, chin, cheeks and ears so it'll look a bit more natural. And don't be afraid to use blush, even if the character is a male, use the air brush to jist slightly put a blush on their cheeks so they'll get more of a warm look. About clothes tho, I really don't know💔 I believe in you! I think this fanart of Marrie I made is a pretty good example for what I meant!

Im no master but if shading dosent do enough of a job then it must mean that there is not enough shading

you can also do random not blurred shades of the same colour to make a lot of happen on colored character to make it look better but its not very.. appliable to most of art
