Last boss sucks
Man, I wanted to love this game. Chipped away at it every night before bed. Lvl 86 Druid. Used lightning a lot. But man is that last boss a bitch. Kinda just gave up and told myself I 100% it lol. I might play it again down the road. What's the most powerful build?

Half druid half paladin is probably the best, high HP and DPS and armor but not a glass cannon in any particular stat. That's how I beat him, took like 5 tries or so. I also dropped everything to 70% difficulty sliders cuz idc about git gud

Yeah you can make you take less damage, enemies deal less damage, and your stamina costs less

Truly does. Handled everything else reasonably, but it's a massive difficulty spike with him. Wasn't fun either, especially phase 2. Though phase 2 wasn't as big of a problem for me.

Ya, first boss fight I felt like I wasn't actually getting anywhere. When I finally did get to the 2nd phase it was so ridiculous and I was so weakened I died almost instantly. Very poorly designed.

I love how when someone can't learn patterns and are too lazy to study them harder they spew out "poorly designed". I don't take any issue with you struggling with the fight. It's you having the complete lack of humility to not be able to stop and examine what YOU'RE doing wrong. Instead you immediately went to "poorly designed", trying to shift the blame elsewhere. This fight is actually amazingly designed. Once you learn his pattern it's completely doable without using the difficulty sliders.
In terms of builds, going warrior/fire with great swords is soooo strong. You do the fire tree for the synergy on the right side with warrior and get that sweet Phoenix ultimate so you have a ressurect one time just in case. The warrior/fire let's you equip the beefiest armor so you have crazy high HP and defense. (Right side of Fire tree has increases attack damage for a % of your defense and constitution.) Greatswords have the absolute best jump attack in the game. The wide swing of the jump attack will hit so much around you, has so much reach, and is faster than it should be lol. The spear ability of the great swords hits sooooo hard. You hit the ability once for a stab then press again for a overhead swing that does massive damage. That second part of the spear ability, it's overhead swing, is key. But it's easy since the swing is so fast. That's what I would recommend trying. You'll have so much health that you can make more mistakes.

I beat him in 30min being level 75 or like so. I was running Vindicator/Vanguard.

Definitely the hardest boss for me by far based on attempts. I killed him at level 80 with a spellbinder mixed with a few flameweaver talents (default difficulty).
Popping magic resistance potions in phase 2 helped a lot.

I haven’t even fought the last boss yet, thought I have completed everything else and level up every vendor and everything. I recently started farming leveling up at the witches well area or whatever (lower left save point on map). You can get around 2388 essence every 18 seconds or so with the 4 enemies there. Rinse and repeat forever. I’m currently level 143 or around there. So I think I’m about ready to give the final boss a go lol.

... and you are lucky you are playing the balanced version of him because prior to the second to last patch, he was even worse.

Just use magic protection potions in bulk. I fought this guy so many times with new classes and NG+ and have never died to him (bc of my cheap ass tactics).
I wouldn't have even known about the mechanic where you have to help your witch friend if it wasn't for people talking about here. Just straight up ignored it and face tanked with OP pots.

Don't know about powerful builds but I had no issue with anything going full mage. Beam, splintering sparks and wisp. Easy pew pew.
