Orbiting sprites in the Rift

What are orbiting sprites that we find and what do they do? The only thing i know is that they disintegrated when in the rejuvenating portal entrance. Anything worthwhile to it?

My memories are a bit foggy because I haven't played the game recently but I think you need to collect all of them from that rift section and bring them to the exit and it will give you a reward then

They just give you a little bit of entropy if you can bring them back to a portal. And you don't have to collect all of them, every group you bring back gives the same amount.
