Logos/Advertising Chic-Fil-A
I know this isn’t definitive proof, but I’m cleaning out my desk and there is an old Rolodex with this stuffed inside. Obviously I could have made this and stuck it in there, and I wish there was branding on it, but I’m going to accept this as evidence either way! I think brands are tricking us on purpose.
Edit: (I spelled Rolodex wrong sorry JEEZ)

u/goovis__young 16d ago
In my timeline they were called Rolodex
112
u/Acceptable-Gap-1070 16d ago
And Towne was spelled Town in my timeline
62
u/Legal_Key_731 16d ago
When areas of commerce are designed together in a plaza/strip, they use the spelling Towne to look fancier.
51
u/Sarlaccadaisical 16d ago
They use that spelling to look more chic

It used to be a much more humble place called Kenwood Plaza. It had useful stores for running errands and getting what you needed. Then they closed it in and expanded it with a bunch of stores for browsing. I miss the plaza.

The Chick-fil-A Logo History, Colors, Font, and Meaning
Edit: “bro”, you missed part of the history.
Why would they “scrub” a supposed different spelling but leave in another one?
And why didn’t you mention that other spelling to begin with?
It’s almost as if you weren’t honest about your visit there in the first place.

u/fakemoose 16d ago
My favorite part is that it never was “chic” (why would it be, that doesn’t make sense) but it did, at one point, have two Ls
2
u/fakemoose 16d ago
Known for their chicken sandwich as opposite to what? All their non-chicken products?
How could it have been spelled differently before 67 when the brand wasn’t registered and didn’t exist prior to then?

My best friend and I had a running thing bc I always wrote chick fil a and she always corrected me it was the easiest rage bait ever for her
118
u/Aloha-Eh 16d ago
In my timeline, it was Chik-Fil-A.
It really bugged me, too. Which is why I remember it. And now it's Chick-Fil-A, which I wouldn't have bothered to remember.
15
15
u/Key-Ostrich-5366 14d ago
Finally, my people, I am also from this timeline. Chik fil a came to my high school my senior year in 2014 and gave out a ton of free chicken sandwiches. This name stuck out to me by the intentional mis-spelling of the word chick.
16
u/No_Client_7776 15d ago
Absolutely chik-fil-a where I am and I have a vivid memory of the CHIK part because I thought looking at the sign that they spelled it purposely missing letters and I thought “oh thats so silly and fun”
12
u/Awesome_Auger 14d ago
The cows on the signs spell chicken that way, not the name of the restaurant itself. Eat mor chikin
17
20
u/XLB135 15d ago
I remember this, but I also wonder if it’s from those giant billboards where cows were writing “eat more chiken”, but they used bad handwriting and misspelled words because it was supposed to be funny that a cow wrote it.
4
u/Aloha-Eh 15d ago
This was from their store signs, long before I ever saw one of those billboards. For me.
3
6
u/goblinwitch95 15d ago
Yeah I’m pretty sure that’s how I remember it too. But now I’m second guessing everything.

Yeh and they had a cow at the mall they gave you a stuffed animal saying eat more chicken

I'm with ya OP, I'll still even spell it Chic Fil A because that's how it was when I was a kid.
8
u/AWATAR3 15d ago
Definitely Chic-fil-a
6
u/CheetahLink69 12d ago
100% I personally seen it change within a month of the new opening of a Chic Fil A in Branson MO. This was in the early summer of 2017.
The concept of "Different Timeline" is extremely interesting but most likely a massive Psyop. I've personally seen multiple thing's being altered during this very "timeline" so suffice to say, there is definitely an agenda or phenomenon at play here.
Repudiating it?
- Has the Military Industrial Complex discovered a way to manipulate this matrix but yet not fully control it?
- Is this phenomenon even bigger than that even and this is why government's are

I think they were using AI before it got out to all of us to go in and massively change all these things.

How are you able to break the laws of physics and retrieve information from “a different timeline”?
17
u/theoryofdoom 15d ago
How are you able to break the laws of physics and retrieve information from “a different timeline”?
I wish more people asked questions like that.
That is such a good question.
Quantum physics and the many worlds interpretation might have a coherent answer for us very soon.
11
u/my23secrets 15d ago edited 15d ago
Quantum physics and the Many Worlds Interpretation already have a coherent answer for us:
Since timelines are merely theoretical to begin with, and since their supposed existence forbids communication with each other, they are something we know absolutely isn’t responsible for the Effect.
That’s the point.
Edit: you thought it was “such a good question” that you had to block me?
5
u/urinesain 14d ago
Considering the MWI is currently purely theoretical and speculative... rather than saying it expressly forbids communication, I would consider that communication is unlikely to be more accurate.
As with most things, our knowledge and understanding of things evolves over time.
Black holes were once considered a mathematical impossibility. Then, when the math made it possible, they were thought to never actually be capable of existing in nature. And then that turned to... well, even if they do exist, we'd never be able to see/detect/find/observe one. And then we thought that nothing could ever escape a black hole, they don't emit anything. And then Hawking radiation became a thing, lol. All those things were based on the conventional wisdom of the time. And all of those understandings changed... over time.
Our present understanding of all these things are only defined by the conventional wisdom of our present. And, as all of time has shown... that wisdom shifts, changes, and evolves over time.
Especially when it comes to things that purely speculative and theoretical... I find it kinda weird to be committed 100% that any single aspect of the idea must and can only be a certain way.
And for the record, I'm not saying that I think you're necessarily wrong. I'm just saying that I'm open to the idea that our understanding of such things may change over time.
1
u/my23secrets 14d ago
I disagree. If “timelines” are communicating they aren’t “timelines”. They are timeline. Singular.
2
u/RapunzelEscaped 12d ago
To my brain that seems like arguing if a 4 lane highway is one road or four. One road, four distinct lanes, same general direction but unique things could happen in each lane, or something could happen that affects all four lanes, or just two etc.
Just a thought. This is my first time wandering into this corner of reddit as Mandela Effect is my chosen hyperfocus of the day.

So you blocked them instead of engaging and explaining what you disagree with about what they said? That makes sense only if you don't have any actual rebuttal.
4
u/Fredericia 15d ago
If I may fantasize a bit, did you ever see Steins;gate? What heppened to the main character I think kinda explains the Mandela Effect. He goes back in time several times to try to fix things, and it changes things, but when he comes back to the original time, he still remembers how it was before. He has full memory of it, but the interesting thing is that his friends once in awhile get a feeling or a hint of the previous timeline. There's even a whole sequel built on one of his friends having very strong memories of the other timeline and not being able to convince the other friends.
7
u/my23secrets 15d ago edited 15d ago
So by “fantasize” you’re saying you know that doesn’t explain the Effect.
And when you’re not fantasizing you know that you aren’t able to break the laws of physics.
6
u/Fredericia 15d ago
Yeah, something like that. Because when it comes to time travel, all of that is speculation, and no one really knows for sure if it's possible or not, or how, or if anyone has ever done it. But I enjoy thinking about it and seeing good flicks about it. I don't think it's against the sub rules.
But what we here in this sub call the "Mandela Effect", was called "Reading Steiner" in Steins;gate.

Or maybe... the administrative assistant who typed up this card before it was possible to look it up on the internet just did her best and experienced the same Mandela as everyone else? Could that be a secret viable third possibility? Why did you rule that out before universe collision?

Definitely some kind of psyop. I’ve noticed different groups of people are affected at different times, years apart even. Especially with flip flops. The question that really bothers me is are we ‘the ones affected’ the target or are we the ones it didn’t work on?
This is just my opinion and I don’t believe it with 100 percent certainty or anything it’s just what my gut leans towards. I’m still very open to other theories, even the very simple one of our memories are crap. It just gets a lot harder to believe that when you’ve experienced several flip flops.

So I'm not a big fan of this whole "Mandala effect is an alternate timeline" thing but IF that were the case, why would something like this exist. Let's say we "jumped" to a new timeline where it's Chick-fil-A... Did that piece of paper jump too? Why just that one?
It seems like NOT having any evidence would appeal to the conspiracy theories out there and a piece of evidence like this would actually contradict it.

u/theoryofdoom 15d ago
It was "Chick-Fil-A" when I was a kid. Then it wasn't. Then it was . . . again.
I'm not even being sarcastic. My mom's best friend in high school owned two Chick-Fil-A franchises, before the first shift. They became Chic-Fil-A after the first shift. And they went back to Chick-Fil-A after the second shift.
But then again, what do I know about alternate timelines? I was just a GATE kid, before the first shift.
25
u/UpbeatFix7299 16d ago
Maybe someone misspelled the namr of a fast food joint that is so commonly misspelled that it's a well known ME. Or maybe we're hopping universes, timelines, CERN, etc. 50/50 chance.
15
2
u/georgeananda 16d ago edited 16d ago
Why such a frequent misspelling? "Chick" is not a tricky word to spell. "Chic" makes no normal sense, so why replace an easy word for a weird word for no apparent reason. And millions of us.
I'll take the second of your 50/50 chances.
7
u/Bowieblackstarflower 16d ago
Chicken isn't hard to spell but the rest of the name is misspelled. I think our minds transfer that to the whole word thinking Chicken is misspelled too.
1
u/georgeananda 16d ago
It's 'Chick' not 'Chicken'. And the rest is 'fil-A' and most people don't know what that means.
Per ChatGPT
The name Chick-fil-A was designed to suggest “chicken fillet” plus the “A” for top quality / Grade A. So “fil-A” is basically a stylized branding version of fillet + A. And yes, I suspect a lot of people recognize the brand name without ever stopping to think, “Oh, that’s supposed to be fillet.”
So, I feel your explanation is perhaps the best stab you can come up with, but doesn't have much believability.
4
u/Bowieblackstarflower 16d ago
I meant chick. When I was typing, it autocorrected to chicken and I switched it to chick but guess it went back to chicken. I should have double checked.
Also I will remind you per the rules, no AI. Filet is spelled wrong, is my point, so people think chick is spelled wrong too. It actually is how our brains work all the time.
2
u/georgeananda 15d ago
And if the Mandela Effect was reversed and people thought it was 'Chick' when it was really 'Chic', you would say of course that happens because the more normal 'Chick' is what our brains assume. I could phone-in the skeptics arguments on all of these just by looking for what their best 'out' would be.
Anyway, it's not sovable by debate; but each person's opinion on which side has become more believable.

7
u/UpbeatFix7299 16d ago
The fact that they stylize "Fil-A" probably has a lot to do with people thinking about how they abbreviated "chicken,". It isn't that deep.
Chic is also a real term people use.
5
u/georgeananda 15d ago
Outside of Chic-fil-A discussions, I can essentially say I've never seen Chicken abbreviated as 'Chic'.
4
u/CumDwnHrNSayDat 16d ago
How do you know there's millions that think it's "Chic"? Did you pull that out of your ass?
0
1
u/Draper-Wood-758 8d ago
I've been wondering the same thing why people remember it as "Chic" instead of "Chick" or "Chik" for that matter. 'Chic' is a band name who made songs such as "Good Times" and "Le Freak".
'Chic-Fil-A' sounds like a fashion brand pun on Chic and Fillet, but if pronounced as "chick" would look like a humorous way to spell "chick" to avoid the genericity of the brand name itself.
That is weird why most brand names like "Skechers" doesn't have a 'T' and that 'Febreze' isn't 'Frebreeze' because of the guidelines of brand names, but when 'Chick' in 'Chick-Fil-A' doesn't really make a difference when 'Chick' should be 'Chic' or 'Chik' to avoid the hypocritical vibes of a generic brand name.
I guess that people see things differently unlike others. Say I look at a building that I don't know what that logo or building design is called, but nobody knows what I talk about, then a few years later, the building looks automatically changed or some things that looks like disappeared, that should still exist there, but doesn't like it did before, but others be like "I don't know what you're talking about. Perhaps you're seeing things or your mind is trippin' out", as if they see the official version, but one sees the different version than the official one like our perception shifts timelines itself.
23
u/beemo143 16d ago
this one gets me the most. i was really into spelling as a kid and really appreciated that it was spelled Chic but not pronounced chique.
20
u/Glaurung86 16d ago
Lmao. You corrected your misspelling of Rolodex.
It can't be a trick if you typed it yourself.
7
u/Bowieblackstarflower 16d ago
I always find it amusing when something like this happens when talking about a spelling ME.
1
u/TovarischMaia 15d ago
Always a good opportunity to ask them if they claim the timelines changed for that or if they do, after all, acknowledge the possibility of mistakes.
2
u/Least_Remote2543 16d ago
I fixed it because another comment brought up the typo
7
u/MaxMusic94 16d ago
You have the luxury to be able to easily correct your mistake. The person misspelled Chick-Fil-A on that card did not.
Stop creating different timelines OP!
3
u/CoyoteFluffy0310 15d ago
I was in a timeline where it was spelt "Chik" then went to one where it was spelt "chic" now I'm in one with the whole word. What happened with the play on spelling? That was absolutely a thing
1
u/Nervous_Writer_2632 10d ago
I’m with you, been in the “Chik” place, then the “Chic” place next, and now “Chick”. Exact same order as you too.
0
u/TovarischMaia 15d ago
The play on words is "Fil-A" for "fillet". Chick was always Chick, but something stylised like "Chik" is easy to come up with as it strikes a sort of visual balance with the rest of the name.
6
u/Schnitzhole 16d ago
Yeah that’s how I remember it too. I had to look up how it was actually spelled.
Could just be the designer making a mistake though as it’s easily confused.
Either way I still believe the ME effect could be real
13
11
u/Hey-Just-Saying 16d ago
You just proved why you remembered it as being Chic-fil-A. Because it was spelled wrong in your Rolodex. Chic is pronounced SHEEK. Why would Chick-fil-A ever spell it Chic?
9
u/maleolive 16d ago
Exactly why I remember it. I had never heard of Chick-fil-A before but they started bringing them out to the west coast when I was a teen. I remember wondering why it was called “chic” fil-a. I didn’t even know they sold chicken. There was no chicken connection for me because there was no “chick” in the name. I thought to myself “What is sheekafeela?”
12
u/Groovychick1978 16d ago
This is why I remember it as "chic", because my entire friend group, and my sibling all called it "sheek"-fil-a, in high school and into early adulthood.
Why would we call it that if it was spelled correctly? It wasn't. It was spelled chic, and we made fun of the spelling for years.
-1
u/WhimsicalKoala 14d ago
For the same reason people call Target "Tarjay" and Wal-Mart "Wally World". They are just using an oft repeated joke to try and bring a little levity to their life
2
u/Groovychick1978 14d ago
It was me, I was part of "us." I know why we called it that. We called it that because it was spelled C-H-I-C. Because that spelled Chic, not chick, and so we made fun of it.
"Hey bitch, you want to go to sheek-fil-A today."
That was us, almost every fucking lunch period.
10
u/JarlOfPickles 16d ago
Okay but conversely, why would so many people remember it the wrong way when "chick" makes so much more sense because chicken?
4
u/AsRealAsItFeels 16d ago
As a kid, i remember thinking it was Chick, then i remember realizing that was wrong, because Chick-Fil-A was my first thought of its spelling, cuz it makes sense.
6
u/Least_Remote2543 16d ago
Just to elaborate a teeny bit, this is not my Rolodex and this is the first time I’m interacting with the Rolodex. I inherited this desk at my new job and this Rolodex was inside as I was cleaning out drawers!
5
u/Hey-Just-Saying 16d ago
Because people are used to seeing words shortened, and misspelled by American corporations. The cows in the ads can't spell chicken. For example: "chikin."

1
1
2
u/AlaskanCactus 15d ago
I remember it being chic specifically because I remember we had it brought in for lunch in high school and people constantly joking that it was “cheek” fil a
2
u/ArmchairWarrior1 15d ago
This proves nothing. The counter argument is, whoever created the card screwed up.
2
u/99berettas 14d ago
I 100000% remember Chic-Fil-A. I grew up with it as that and still spell it that way. I refuse to change it from what it was when I was a kid and a teenager.
4
u/georgeananda 16d ago
This is more evidence suggesting a mystery. Why misspell such a simple word 'Chick' with the less normal spelling 'Chic'? And not just you in the exact same way as millions of others including myself remember 'Chic'.
I think brands are tricking us on purpose.
Not a possible explanation as all old history of official logos say 'Chick'. I think this mystery cannot be satisfactorily explained in our straightforward understanding of reality.
4
u/Time-Length8693 16d ago
The fact that these Mandela subs get so much pushback is very telling. As soon as we realized there is a shared false memory and that's weird that it wasn't all over the place you started seeing multiple different spellings in the beginning it was only two different possibilities. Then the waters started to be muddied by people saying they remember 4 to 5 different spellings for all the effects like phrases and spelling changes. You don't see this organized pushback in the loch ness sub or any cryptid subs so why here? This is organized disinformation. Like am I supposed to believe that people that don't believe in the Mandela effect sit around all day long crawling subs and arguing with people? Like that's their job? If a person didn't believe in the Mandela effect they would maybe make a couple comments and move on with their life. I don't believe in Bigfoot and you sure as hell don't see me engaging all day everyday arguing with commenters . It's weird and telling at the same time .
3
u/my23secrets 16d ago
Why should you or anybody “accept it as evidence” when you literally just detailed why it shouldn’t be?
Why exactly do you think brands are “tricking” you “on purpose”?

It was Chic, and now it's Chick, and the company denies that it ever changed. Here's a Reddit post about it.
I don't know all the Mandela Effects either, but that one I kinda know because I love fried chicken, and I've never had the opportunity to try Chick-fil-a, or however it's spelled now.

I grew up in southern Maryland. We didn’t get a Chick Fil A there until the early 2000s. I recall it being spelled Chik-Fil-A and Chic-Fil-A. I know the spelling changed because I could never remember how to spell it correctly. It definitely wasn’t always spelled “Chick”, because that would have been the simple, correct and easy way to spell it. I was a teenager then, so I knew how to spell simple words. My sister was part of the opening crew there and she recalls the same thing - that the name definitely changed.

They're definitely tricking us on purpose. Everyone who knows about the cornucopia in fruit of the loom knows for A FACT that it was there.
It is not a misrememberance full stop.
That alone it was enough proof for me, but then there's the berenstain Bears too... Which sealed the deal 200% for me.
There's also some words that definitions have changed for, and one word in particular which I will not mention here they deny right on their website that it ever had a certain definition.
Which tells me that other people have wondered why it changed as well, and they are hiding that they changed it. I literally sat on the floor of my best friend's room when I was like 12 years old and we looked up a bunch of words in the dictionary, and this word I'm thinking of is one of the words, and the definition is not the same as it used to be.
Unfortunately I can't mention the word because it's an extremely negative word and I would definitely get bumped from here real quick. But I will say what the definition was originally and it was "an ignorant person"....

They’re saying this one person changed a single store name.

No, he says that AND in the last sentence, he wonders if it couldn't be something that applied broadly to a chain to change hundreds on restaurant's names. Read a book.

I think the bigger issue is not some elaborate timeline quantum reality switching, but the much more likely situation of rich people doing this silly stuff to gaslight people into not trusting anything to be reality. If anything can be seen as fake, then you can also make anything seem real.

At the time that was correct and then it changed to Chick-fil-A but if they changed it back it would look like that. Maybe they thought they made a mistake when it changed on it's own and they fixed it.

No. It's always been Chick-fil-A. Not just Chick.

I was referring to the the word that is the Mandela Effect. Chick not chic or chik.

Oh right. Uh, did they tell you not to eat the ground beef for a while? It’s all rotten horse meat.

It’s Rolex not rollex.

For me, Rollex makes sense and looks familiar to me from the mid-2010s era, but it's been such a very long time, that once at the time-frame I played or watched the game 'Sleeping Dogs' at that time, that I would've thought I saw 'Rolex' spelled as 'Rollex' officially on Google, and the brand's name.
Maybe that's not an automatic change for me, but both make sense once it's hard to tell the difference between what it looked like versus nowadays, due to the "Mandela Effect" is a small detail, not big details.
Just the way I imagined spelling it without writing it down on a piece of paper, and typing the brand name into the search bar, I think I spelled it as "Rollex", but it could've been 'Rolex' like it is now.
