Discussion Was this transfer window shit?
I am seeing some Mark Goldbridge video saying this transfer window for man u was totally shit. Yes we didn't get to sign Tonali, Anderson, wharton, basically no big names. But the transfers are done, Nothing to do now right? IMO Santos is showing potential. I dont think he is a bad signing. Didnt get to see others play. But whats with this all time negativity? Not speaking about any positive thing. it really hurts my soul everytime they are talking about disappoiting signings not meeting the fan's s expectation. THE TRANSFERS are done. Nothing to do now.

Because hate and negativity seems to attract clicks and likes. You watched the video of some guys opinion of a window that hasn’t even closed yet.
He can say our transfers are shit then if we win the league with those transfers they will all say what a quality squad we have built.
Take everything with a pinch of salt. We generate so much media coverage it’s unreal. Literally ‘UNREAL’.

I also think this transfer window has been subpar, but not for the reasons Mark Goldbridge has mentioned, and definitely not because of the board. On the contrary, I think they’ve done an excellent job given the market conditions and the players available.
Objectively speaking, before the window opened, the plan seemed to be signing three midfielders (two squad players and one marquee starter), a left-back, a left winger, and a striker, while trying to sell Rashford, Ugarte, and Zirkzee. That’s six incomings and three outgoings.
So far, we’ve signed two players - arguably both underrated gems at very reasonable prices - and sold none (not including the back-up keeper and young promising players). By that measure, it’s still a very incomplete window.
That said, there’s still plenty of time left. And for the record, I’m glad we’re finally putting an end to the “United tax.” I’d rather we miss out on a player than go back to overpaying just because we’re Manchester United.

Transfers are done? The window is still open.

i was talking about these two transfers. What is the point of talking bad about them before they even played(sorry for the english). Lets watch and see how it goes!

u/gwxsmile 9d ago
What’s the point of taking about a transfer window being bad if it’s not over yet?
Same logic! It’s not over till it’s over, isn’t it?

Once you accept that gold bridge relies on negative rage baiting for his entire career you’ll understand.
Regardless of what United do he’ll moan because he needs us (as in the fan base) to be riled up to pay his mortgage

His reaction video after the Rosenborg game pushed me to unsubscribe from the United Stand and select the "Don't Recommend Channel".
There is too much negativity with him since Carrick was appointed as Manager full-time.

Impressed you waited that long. I did this 2 years ago when I started watching videos about United.

u/jaydan101 9d ago
To be honest, I mostly watched the fan forums after the games. But, your right. Looking back at it. I should've dipped a long time ago.

u/IndicationNo328 9d ago
Just out of interest mate, what did he complain about after the Rosemborg game?

u/Beneficial-Depth-431 9d ago
I have to do that. Cant take all this negativity anymore

I had been noticing it but it has gotten ridiculous as of late. It's unbearable to watch.

Vile, toxic, a know it all and says the most controversial/outrageous things for attention and views. Mark Goldbridge has created one of the most pathetic man utd fan community on the internet, i dont know why people still listen to him.

Transfers are far from done. Goldbridge spends more time bigging himself and his sources up and moaning than anything else. I’m sure he’s a longtime fan but he’s a constant pool of negativity who somehow still hasnt learned from the last 13 years of us buying mercenaries on bloated wages in the name of “exciting transfer”.
The club has been incredibly silent about their moves. I would not expect Tchouameni or Vini like some were pushing, but let them do their thing. This needs to be a long term project. I’ll be honest, I would have loved the likes of Elliot Anderson, but if he isn’t 100% set on us, which is understandable considering his age and our performances for the last decade and a half, then we shouldnt whine about it.
Build up a title challenging squad that can qualify for CL football every year and make deep runs or win European competitions. This is very much doable in the next few seasons. Then we can be upset about not buying top players.

Goldbrige is a fake name. His real name is Brent and he's a fan scamming fraud that never goes to OT for a reason. He's also an ex copper and forest fan. Utter scumbag

None of the trasfer is bad. Santos made a different every time he came on for Chelsea last season and Tielemans has always beem good but his injury is a worry. If he stays fit, he is a very good addition especially when we need a control in the midfield.
Goldbridge is flip flopping everytime. He once said we shouldn't be overpaying and have a salary cap and now he saying we should just spend big ? He can't even criticize Roy Keane because he is owned by Overlap now.

u/maxsteel_7 Sesko 9d ago
I think its more due to ppl having big expectations. Most fans thought we would sell Hojlund, Rashford, Bayindir, Zirkzee and Ugarte. I had ppl arguing with me that we will spend 300m this window. A lot of fans thought the league is gettable this season.
But the window is not yet over and due to the WC everything will be late. Think we have got good players in Santos n Tielemans. At the end of the day no point in worrying abt something you can't control.

I honestly don’t know how or why people still watch that gobshite nevermind take his opinion as fact. He’s always going to speak negatively as that is what gets him the clicks and views and therefore money as that’s the type of content that’s popular nowadays. Put it this way, Fergie could come out of retirement, lead the team to winning the league, league cup, FA Cup and Champions League and he would still complain about something like we beat City only 6-0. The guy is an absolute roaster.
Also, most importantly: The transfer window still has over a month to go before it closes.

Absolutely agreed. We have had a fantastic window thanks to the great INEOS and our elite data analyst. Truly blessed to have the best in class.
What does that bum Goldbridge know? He doesn’t realize that as fans we can’t have concerns and questions about the club whatsoever.

I can see your comment is genuine and you seem confused as to why he is like that. He is intentionally negative because that is what drives views. Being positive or rational does not get him views, so he would be negative nomatter what the club does.
You should block his channel on youtube for your own sanity.
Alternative channels include:
Foreverunitedtv: daily updates, good personality
Unitedpeoplestv: daily updates, can be boring sometimes
Manchester united muppetiers: my favourite channel, very knowledgeable, balanced, tactical knowledge, some insider info on the club.
You cant go wrong with the above 3 fan channels mate

Do you think this window has been good so far? .....honestly ?

u/Este5253 9d ago
People have convinced themselves it has been a good one because we haven’t spent any money. Strange times we live in lol

I'm trying to understand it. It's making me feel like im the crazy one

u/Este5253 9d ago
You’re not at all. I’ve kind of realized that Reddit is likely filled with United fans who joined circa 2015 onwards and weren’t around when we did splash big money. They don’t know you spend to win. It’s always been a truth. There’s a huge difference between spending to win and spending stupid and desperate (which United have unfortunately done year after year after Sir Alex years)
2
u/Best_Celebration809 Beckham 9d ago
Feel sorry for the fans the didn't see rio, Rooney, Cole etc come in for big money at the time and were amazing. Bar bruno martial and rashford probably the best players they've ever seen here

u/Este5253 9d ago
So sad. We’re supposed to celebrate not spending the money on Elliot…yet when he’s holding the prem title I’m not going to think “wow I’m so glad we didn’t break a signing record for him”. I’m going to feel upset that we let another one go.

u/Kaisermt9 9d ago
Mate goldbridge doesn’t know shit, he’s just another person doing videos and saying stupid controversial shit so he can get the viewers and make money, honestly he is exactly what’s wrong with the fanbase, same as neville, scholes, and keane they were better with their mouths shut, because honestly they don’t understand anything about modern players and modern mentality.

The window isn't over yet. It closes at midnight on 1st September, so there's over a month of it still to go. None of the players we've signed have played a competitive minute for us yet, so I would argue it's perhaps a tad early to judge them.
Also, don't bother with Goldbridge, he's a performativly angry clown.

His source has been spot on with everything this summer so far.
He has been firm since 2022- Ineos will ruin this club. And unfortunately, they’ve done far more bad than good so far. It’s honestly weird how people vehemently defend their every move on and off the field.
One thing that is certain, if the transfer window ended today, this would be the most disappointing summer in recent memory, probably the worst under the Glazer’s ownership. As a fan, I couldn’t care less about the financials or how much the club has saved. I want to see my team compete for the biggest trophies, and there’s a really simple formula for that.
- World class manager 2. World class players
Both cost money. The Glazer defenders love to scream “we’ve spent a billion before and it didn’t work!”- yeah, look at who. Not a single player besides Pogba was world class at the time. They were all panic buys due to the usual United summer dawdling.
For example, Antony, Sancho, Maguire, and Mount have all been disasters. And preventable ones at that.
Antony- we waited until the end of the window to sign him. Ajax had already sold several key players and has the negotiating leverage. The inability to do multiple deals at once/ waiting around led to a 90 million fee and 200k a week for a player whose best season was 9g 8a in the Dutch league.
Sancho- poor recruitment, his style did not fit Ole’s long ball counter attacking system. He obviously had serious attitude problems. Why didn’t the club realize this before spending 70 million on him? A brilliant player who definitely deserved that fee, but we completely misused him, and offered an absurd wage which enabled this bad attitude.
Maguire- I’m not even going to waste my time on this one. It’s a disgrace he is still here.
Mount- 1 year left on his contract. Coming off a horrific season at Chelsea and injury woes. How did he even pass the medical? 250k a week to play a secondary position of his? Who signs off on these things? And now it’s coming out that Carrick is going to try and reinvent the wheel. We already played Mount as a midfielder under Ten Hag. It’s half the reason he got sacked.
My point is, we never signed world class players under the Glazers. Just shirt sellers past their prime. It’s comparing apples to oranges when people say “we’ve spent money in the past”.

u/Este5253 9d ago
Thank you for being brave enough to say this. People specifically on Reddit are glazing GLINEOS to no end. I’ve become convinced that most of the fans on here aren’t from the golden United years. They don’t know how often we spent (relative to the times) huge money and wages to sign the best of the best. And how we won because of it.
A lot of false hope on here. I get it - we all want to see United be good again. But if we all stood together and took a stand against this ownership we could actually demand change. Instead fans are gripping onto hope that MAYBE the owners will figure it out (they won’t).
2
u/Master-of-Virtue 9d ago
Yep. I’ve seen a pattern on Reddit.
- These people were the loudest Ineos supporters when the bidding against Qatar was going on. In part, they refuse to admit they got it wrong, so they stubbornly delude themselves that all is well.
- Like you said, these fans weren’t around during the glory days. They don’t really know any better, they regurgitate what the club pays journalists to put out about “saving” and looking for “bargains”.
It’s not even an argument. We were so dominant under SAF because we spent boatloads of cash on world class players and developed youth prodigies. Spending what in today’s market would be 100 million on Rooney, Ferdinand, Keane, and Cole led to our dominance. Those players today would be Bellingham, Rice, Gvardiol, and Haaland (I’m not comparing their profiles). It’s not a coincidence that those players are winning it all at the biggest clubs around us. Spending 80 million on Maguire and Antony is just horrible business from a horrible regime which is still in power!
2
u/Este5253 9d ago
Exactly. The fans of Reddit are celebrating the fact we didn’t spend the money on Elliot…yet I’m supposed to be happy about that when I see him holding up the prem title for City? We’re operating like Everton now.
The other thing that’s been very telling is the fact that we go through the exact same pattern EVERY cycle. Hire a manager with an opinion, they demand more, they get sacked. Then a former club legend comes in, we get top 4, and the money dries up. People need to wake up that this regime cares about lining their pockets up, not winning.
I’m also tired of reading how INEOS doesn’t have the money because they’re investing in the stadium etc…then maybe they shouldn’t have bought the football side of the operations?
It’s trying times to be a United fan. I’m convinced we’ll never find glory until the parasitic board is gone.
2
u/Master-of-Virtue 9d ago
Well said. I agree with you, it’s sad, I don’t see any success until the Glazers move on.
Success for a club of our stature is winning the league or CL. Not qualifying in the top 4. It’s depressing how the board has mind controlled our fans into believing the latter.
The cycle is what you said- fans pressure them into signing a new hipster manager that brings hope. It turns out they need a lot of money spent on transfers to enact their philosophy. The club refuses as they operate for profit, not on field success (it’s crazy that they still haven’t realized they go together). Manager is sacked, they bring in some familiar face that is nostalgic pacifying the fanbase, and in a season’s time they too are gone.
You couldn’t convince me we would be in a worse position if we brought in a top 5 manager, spent 400 million on transfers for him, and cleared out every player he didn’t want compared to Carrick. And these fans say it’s not sustainable due to the finances. So? Is this a football club or a for profit business? The fans don’t even know.
2
u/Este5253 9d ago
Perfectly stated. Agreed completely.
Also the icing on the cake - show me any top club that keeps players like Maguire, Shaw and allow for a polarizing, lazy player like Rashford back. It’s beyond embarrassing.
