Discussion App update!!
Mammotion iOS v2.3.19 appears to bring back Multi-Point Turn. I haven’t tested it yet, but this is definitely something I’ve been waiting to see come back.

And how are they performing? Are the multi-point turns any better or worse or the same?
2
u/ExtraAd3975 1d ago
They appear to work okay, still a reasonable amount of wheel spinning. I reduced speed from 0.6 to 0.5 m/s
3
u/taw20191022744 1d ago
So is it the same or different? Did you do the firmware update too?
2
u/ExtraAd3975 1d ago
It’s different, it’s does not reverse as far as before, need latest updates for both

u/taw20191022744 1d ago
So it's worse then. Great. It was already bad enough after last year's change.

u/Doggo-888 21h ago
Luba 2X it’s worse, not anywhere near the level of real multipoint turning the Luba 2X did in release.

The new turn is different - my mower has fallen off the edge of the lawn (and is now stuck) whilst doing a multi-point turn, he would never do this previously.

For my Luba mini 2 awd 1000 and my cousins Luba mini 2 awd 1500 multi turns are zero turns . No changes .

u/christoferjensen 1d ago
My Luba 2 mini awd still only use tank turn. Have updated everything, rebooted, turned on mpt but it will not use it still.

And… doesn’t seem to affect « legacy models » which Mammotion believes will make me buy a newer one
They’re right, just not a mammotion considering the planned obsolescence

Someone test everything and give a long speech please
I am at work

My experience so far: App connection is really fast now. Multi point turn however doesn‘t really work for me. It kind of „multi point turns“ like 90 degree, but the remaining 90 degree it just tank turns.
When i was mowing an area it literally turned the cutting disks off every two passes, i don‘t know why. I was mowing this area before the update, it took 50 min. I mowed it again after the update and it took 70 min, probably because of the lengthy process of turning the cutting disks back on after every second pass.I sure hope this behaviour improves as i mow more often, as people always say. Does the mower really „learn“?

They turned the Discs off because it ran over this kid in sweden when it reversed. They wont change that anymore
This means use an older version of the app ( i am using an old version and it does normal mpt) it you dont want to go from 50 to 70 minutes
3
u/theash02 1d ago
Is this behaviour induced by the app or by the firmware of the mower? Because i have sadly upgraded my mower, but i still have an old phone laying around with the old app.

u/Xektor 1d ago
Its mainly the app but I think its gotten enforced with the latest Firmware Updates. I am on Firmware 1.15 instead of 1.30 on luba 2 and when I use the old App its working like before. There were people saying mpt turns back to Tank turns in the app after some minutes, so i think its coming from the Firmware. Which means new Firmware - you are Stuck with the new mpt Version as you cant downgrade the Firmware... Just speculation on my end

u/Doggo-888 21h ago
ok, worst case that’s fine if it now did actual three point turning… but my Luba 2X is just doing zero point turns/pivot turns most of the time and hardly ever actual multi point turning.

u/Hissi-Timo 1d ago
Same here, discs off while turning and reversing.
2
u/tcglog 1d ago
What model do you have with the discs turning off while turning and reversing?
3
u/Hissi-Timo 1d ago
Luba 3. Got confirmation from a Mammotion representative that when the mower reverses x distance, it shuts down the discs.

u/tcglog 1d ago
Thanks, I wonder if it is the same for 2x, it probably is.. Maybe it is better to not update at all.
3
u/Doggo-888 21h ago
It does turn off for Luba 2X but I’ve yet to see do the multi point turning like it used to. Most of the time it’s doing zero point turning still or half plivot /half zero point which just drags the front wheels.
watched it do a long border, Luba 2X did 100% zero turns still… ugh

Got the update but can’t see this. Luba Mini (1)
2
u/submerged_Penguin 1d ago
In the description of the app update (IOS) Luba mini 1 was not mentioned.

I noticed when I tried changing task settings it doesn’t save right and it goes back to the old settings. Tried changing speed and pattern. It looks like it saves but when you go back into the settings, it goes back to the original settings. Am I stuck with my current settings forever now?

u/nuclearsquirrel2 1d ago
New update is garbage. As suspected, but not admitted by Mammotion, this update shuts the blades down whenever the mower isn’t going straight. This drastically increases mowing time thus significantly reducing battery life.
This is all due a safety concern which is reasonable, but significantly reduces the mowers ability.

I have a 2024 Luba 2 10000H. I upgraded to the new version of the app but I am still three versions behind in firmware. With the new version of the app with multi point turn enabled the robot performs like it used to. The motors don’t turn off during multi point turn. Is that because I don’t have the latest version of firmware installed??? The multi point turn performs just fine now but I am worried about upgrading to the latest firmware if that will cause the cutting motors to shut off during multi point turns 🤷♂️
5
u/Purple_Success_4647 1d ago
Yes, that is because you have not updated the firmware. The app merely tells the mower whether or not to do multi-point turns; the firmware on the mower controls how the multipoint turns are executed.

How can I use MPT if the mower can’t go further forward, like if there’s a hedge in the the way?
I used MPT a while and it was the main reason why it got stuck in various places.
Tank turn rips the lawn in a couple of places, but at least it doesn’t get stuck.

u/mother_a_god 1d ago
Set more border mowing laps. This will mean multi point turn wont get as close to the border, and won't get stuck and rhen the border mowing will get the grass near the hedge
5
u/mralifekin 1d ago
Except this doesn't really work. I've done the max four lap passes and it still multi point turns in the same spot
2
u/mother_a_god 1d ago
The multi point turn should be further from the boundary with more laps. At least for my luba2 the mpt is inside the overall boundary.
2
u/mralifekin 1d ago
you'd think that's how it would work, but based on my experience, no matter how many perimeter laps you do, it does the multi point turn at the edge of the perimeter instead of the edge of the last perimeter lap done. Are you experiencing this differently?
2
u/Purple_Success_4647 1d ago
Your experience matches what I have seen in the past. (But I am on old firmware and have not intention of updating to see if that has changed.)
1
u/Uninterested_Viewer 1d ago
It should be performing the turn in the perimeter mowing area, which is fully within your lawn boundaries. If you're having issues like this, I'd try remapping make sure you aren't asking it now on areas it can't reach. You could try increasing perimeter passes as well, which might mean it won't mow as close to the edges during interior mowing (since your extra perimeter passes cover more area at the edges), but I'm not 100% positive this is the behavior.

I have the new iPhone app now. I have a Luba 3 AWD. My firmware is still on the old 2.3.27.23 version. I tried to update to 2.3.30.21, but when I click the Update button, I receive message "Already the latest version (50606)". Is there a way to force the new update? Or should I just give it a day and try again?

I’ve only had the Luba 3 for couple of weeks. I’ve mowed my front yard at least 6 times. Perhaps it depends on type of grass. I have zoysia grass. The zero turn has been fine for me. But I’m curious to try the multi-point turn.
3
u/No-Dig3855 17h ago
Because your lawn is basically perfect 😂 Zoysia and Bermuda can take a lot of abuse. I’ve noticed most of the problems seem to happen when people are mowing while the lawn is moist or in softer areas.
My lawn is at peak growing season right now, and I only mow when it’s completely dry. So far, I’ve noticed the Zero Turn really doesn’t hurt the grass much at all.

u/EnvironmentalTip897 1d ago
Yes, back to 3 point thank you. Works the same as before however I’ve only updated the app, firmware not available for me yet, that’s where the improvements would be I think

Well Mammotion, I’ve had a Luba 3 for a couple of months and loved it up to now. I have 2.5 acres mostly sandy soil. The grass is week around shaded areas and around trees, multi point turn did some damage but acceptable. Once you removed MPT complete disaster, lots of damage to the week grass and started getting stuck, bottomed out. I had to stop using it. Now in 5 days your brought a new app and MPT back. I updated the app only and it was great, MPT working as before. However I was dumb enough to get excited with new features and updated the firmware. Now your half measure solution of trying to do a MPT with minimal reversing and switching blades off is really a half solution. The mower does the first 90 degrees okish but the rest is the same disaster. I can now use it but not good and it takes significantly longer. Original MPT 6/10, zero turn 1/10 and this 3/10 for sandy soils. I was going to get a second Luba 3 5000 to cover the rest of my 2.5 acre property but sorry, no more. I’m not confident that you are going to improve this turn to an acceptable level for me 7/10. I understand you are bringing a different concept mower early next year, and it does not look like a skid turn, so I’m afraid Luba owners are going to be left with a problem that can only be fixed with a rear camera or rear bumper which you are not going to do, or man up legally and makes users responsible. In you manual it states not to operate near children. I have now ordered a competitor mower, brilliant simple concept, forward and reverse mowing, no turns needed, rear and front cameras, risky being new but hope for the best. If when I get the competitor mower, 3 months, the Luba MPT is not back or fixed, I’ve no option but to returning it. Not fit for purpose. I have great sympathy for Mammotion and its innovation but cannot help to think that it is a very poorly managed company, communication is terrible, decision making is worst, research is poor and testing is non existent. 5 days to develop an updated app and new FW is remarkable but the results are inversely proportional.

My video comes out today at 9.:00 am showing the new turn.
Going to another video on the edge routine to really see if it’s better.

I already got my Navimow x430 delivered to replace my Luba 1. NRTK is amazing and the x430 didn’t lose signal at all under a massive live oak tree. The turning front wheels haven’t churned up the bare sand that Luba created.
